We must draw a distinction between child abuse and child correction. Child abuse should not be condoned under any guise, but we must not mistake child correction for child abuse. The Bible says in Proverbs 22:15 that only the rod of correction can drive away the spirit of foolishness that dwells by default in a child. I am sure this is why my own parents did worse to me out of love and I can point to it as a the only reason why I turned out perfectly in life. I've also come to learn that no ones loves a child more than it's parents. It is expected that every parent knows when much is too much in correcting a child and that they must not shy away from correcting their children whenever they err. We are Africans who have handed-down guides. It is very eurocentric for anyone to demonize the beating of children as a means of correction and also babaric for anyone to inflict extreme bodily torture as a means of correction. Shame on any parent resident in Nigeria whose kids are not enrolled in schools where they can be freely flogged. I once invited a young family over and heard a toddler tell his father "daddy, keep quiet; you are wrong" and the stupid man was there praising the kid for being expressive and assertive. 11 Likes 1 Share |

NwaAmaikpe:your current state is a testament to the fact that flogging can't take away foolishness from people. With all the lashes you are still the way you are? If the resultant of discipline is being YOU then I advice all parents to throw away their whips 5 Likes 1 Share |

Mother from hell. It beats me how some minds are able to configure the most villest acts humanly possible. Same thing is happening to millions of kids around the globe in the name of discipline. Heartbreaking If you ask her now, she'd say she did it to correct him and "cast out the demon pushing him". Shame 1 Like |

JeffreyD1:FEMALE CREATURES don't think before they act. In Fact, Ladies Have done worse to their KIDS not to talk of MAIDS. I have always said it, that it will be a resounding MIRACLE to have females that are devoid of these characteristics around you. |
