Seunpaul01: Lolz..7/10, that's fantastic. Firstly the movie Harriet wasn't meant for fun, it was meant to be a documentary & Bio. Secondly, am not dissuading anybody from seeing the movie after all, na u get your MB, it's just my opinion & i basically said it how it is. No offense sire, but you probably don't know the story of Harriet. If the title of the movie weren't tied to Harriet Tubman, believe you me, it would have been an outstanding flick, but calling it Harriet & giving us another thing, that's totally unacceptable by me. The writer of the flick basically wrote what ought to be, instead of leaving it at what is/was. It just like telling the story of the Nigerian civil war(1967-1970) & while at it, you make up stories to glorify Biafra, or you tell some part while ignoring the most sensitive parts, while in reality, my igbo brothers & sisters really saw hell. Do you know there was widespread raping of Biafran women and girls by soldiers of both sides, or are you ware that : -Many Biafran children were airlifted to Gabon. -Many Biafran children who died of hunger. -Many Biafrans were killed by Nigerian troops in one of its worst tragedies in Asaba. Telling or making a civil war movie without including any of the following only makes you movie fallacious, that's why the Half Of The Yellow Sun movie adaptation didn't do well. 1 Like |

mekaprime: I thought Half of A Yellow Sun did well at the box office. Well, I kinda heard it was gonna be seriously censored cos of some of its contents and I heard the NBC would've banned it if it didn't conform. |

HARRIET (2019) rt & metacritic scores are very positive.... i trust rotten tomatoes and stingy metacritic ratings on biography movies. i'll watch it this evening and drop my own rating. |
Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by mekaprime: 3:49pm On Jan 31, 2020 |
abduleez1: It didn't do quite well at the Box office. And yes they seriously censored the flick, because if they had left her original content to roll, it would have been disastrous. The book did Justice to the civil war story rather than the movie. Just like i was trying to tell Seunpaul01, if you don't know Harriet Tubman, then, you're going to enjoy the movie, but if you know Harriet Tubman's story, you'd only curse the writer. It's just like Django unchained, if Django had been tied to an actual real black person, then, that movie wouldn't have done well. 1 Like |

abduleez1: How good is this Harley Quinn series? It seems you haven't seen The Boondocks & The Simpsons? Sponge Bob, chie! i remember the good old days, days of Pinky & the Brain, Hey Arnold, Rug rats, Johnny Bravo, Cow & Chicken, Scooby Doo....How time flies, it just seemed like yesterday. |

Apocalypse Now 3 stars/4 One of the masterful war films out there. Moving performance from Brando, graphic and keeps you expecting. This will take the second position on my best war films right before Platoon and after The Thin Red Line. I've not seen anything better than that Terrence Malick's stuff. |

Uncut Gems..8.5/10 Genre: Crime, Drama, Thriller Am a huge fan of Adam Sandler although, few times, i dislike his style of comedy, but this act of his right here was phenomenal. Sandler showed his dynamic versatility here & has proven to us all, that he has quite a lot to offer, honestly i never knew he had it in him. I know he's plays the emotional character quite ok, at least his movie Click attests to that, but this, this was nothing like click, infact, this was excellent. Script was well written, dialogue and musical scores were so on point, editing & directing, top notch. A very interesting concept that sets you on a wild ride. 1 Like |

mekaprime: Honestly, I don't know, I just have a few episodes on phone. I'm yet to start watching it except some previews from some episodes, and I Know I'm gonna like it. It looks fun, gory and kinda mature, it's also hilarious from the memes DC fans make with it. @ornicus will be in a perfect position to expatiate more on it, cos he was the one who started watching it early when it came out. Lol, when I mentioned those faves they were purely for Series still airing on Cable. Lol, I haven't seen Boondocks except for some short adverts on Fox or something. I've watched Simpsons when I was far younger but lost interest in it as I was getting older. It was one of my faves back then, I prolly just don't fancy it's Animation style anymore. |

@mekaprime You don't like SpongeBob? But all those are definitely in my all time faves, better than my earlier mentions sef, especially that PINKY AND THE BRAIN and the Very hilariously stupid Cow and Chicken You still remember : I am Weasel, The Flintstones, Captain Redbeard, Silver Hawk, Dexter and that one with 3 stupid Birds? Nowadays na foolish toons I dey see my younger ones dey watch. It irks me die. No better thing again. As one wise OLD MAN(Alexistaiwo) once said : When the DESIRABLE becomes UNAVAILABLE, the AVAILABLE becomes DESIRABLE. |

Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by mekaprime: 8:49pm On Jan 31, 2020 |
abduleez1:Why wouldn't i like Sponge Bobs, it was one of my all time favorite back then. I still wonder how the writers comes up with ideas that still keeps the show afloat up till now. Yeah I still remember I am Weasel & his rival, I are baboon, silver hawks, Dexter. What of Real ghost busters, Godzilla, Samaria x, The Zeta projection, Batman of the future, Biker mice from mars, Thunder cats. Those good old days when Pinky would be like " what do we do tomorrow night brain " & Brain would respond, "the same thing we do every night Pinky, try to take over the world". Damn!, i was a cartoon freak back then. And the series we had then were quite different from what we have now, series like, Luis & Clark, Sledge Hammer, RoboCop, X-files, Allen Strange, Buffy the vampire slayer, the pretender, The Cosby show. 2 Likes |

mekaprime: Harriet Tubman (born Araminta Ross, c. March 1822[1] – March 10, 1913) was an American abolitionist and political activist. Born into slavery, Tubman escaped and subsequently made some 13 missions to rescue approximately 70 enslaved people, including family and friends,[2] using the network of antislavery activists and safe houses known as the Underground Railroad. During the American Civil War, she served as an armed scout and spy for the Union Army. In her later years, Tubman was an activist in the struggle for women's suffrage. |
