That's not the only reason. It also mentions blocking countries with muslim majority. And I also know for a fact that Nigeria was added to that list because of how buhari releases captured boko haram members back into the public. Its a security threat for US if they somehow find their way into America.

People are simply running from this country since APC took over.The number of those o erstaying have increase in recent years.If the APC government ha e bettered this country this would obviously not happen Things have become worst under the APC regime.

Restricting Nigerians from travelling to USA is a BIG deal. A very big one. Dont limit it by calling it "...a mere immigration policy".

It is another indication of how low Nigeria has fallen.

I know Trump is crazy. But there are some countries that he would not have done this with. Not this easily. Moreover, the excuse he would give is the terrible security situation in todays Nigeria with Boko haram, ISWAP and herdsmen/bandits killing indiscriminately.

The security situation directly reflects on the President, who is C-inC


The reasons are boldly stated in the last paragraph. Please read again: A United States government official said the administration was adding Nigeria and Tanzania to the list because of the number of people who come from the African countries on a visa and end up illegally staying in the United States. The official said Sudan and Eritrea had not satisfied the administration’s information-sharing requirements.

I defend not those who burnt US flag but the reason given by US has nothing to do with them. Even Americans protest, it is part of democracy. Those who over stay their visas and those yahoo yahoo milking American businesses of millions of dollars are responsible for this. The southern part of Nigeria has done more harm to the country's image overseas than the North due to the organized criminal activities exported abroad. Surely, the effects of drug pushing, cultism, prostitution and billions being stolen through business email fraud was to have repercussion some day. Let us be objective and stop pointing fingers. Nigeria is what we have made it.
I expect some other countries to follow US stance on immigrant visa.

I don't think that it has anything to do with the protest. The reason is in the last paragraph. Almost 20% of Nigerians that visit the US end up stating illegally.

Remember, trump is restricting immigrant visa not non-immigrant visa.

I have one colleague, she’s is a Nigerian but she was born in America and she was part of our company’s WAZOBIA network. She asked me a question about why some Nigerians love Trump. She said she can’t fathom or think about why any sane Nigerian should love Trump to a fault.

Trump already banned immigration visa now.
They have already systematically decreased the non-immigrant visa granted to Nigerians and embassy denial rate already skyrocketed.

He proposed to ban F1-OPT, the court will hear the case soon sometimes in July or so.

He already changed the method of H-1B visa system and he’s also proposing more strict policies.

He will soon ban (if not already) people going to America to born babies. He already systematically banned visiting visas coz the approval rate of that one is not more than 5-10% only restricted to mostly rich people.

When Trump is done dealing with Nigerians and foreigners of color generally, people supporting him will regret their actions.


why nigerians especially the igbos love trump is because he is a say and do politician. in the history of nigeria, no politician has ever come close to his record of keeping his words. this is what we solely miss and need as a people in Nigeria and Africa alone. if you reason properly you see the love for him revolves around economic growth, value for citizens lives, security, takes no nonsense from others, is his own man and no cabal dictates for him. we do not care about other aspects of his life which is outside governance because what he was put there for in the first instance, he is doing a perfect job at it.

Most of this people are the one overstaying their visas and still committing crimes on that. Imagine the fraudster network busted by the FBI, most of this igbos are illegal immigrants. Teaching Assistantships and Research Assistantships.

If you can get those offers from the universities on your I-20 documents, then you stand a higher chance of visa approval.

If you like make your popman get 500million for account, if you no get assistantships offer or partial funding from the school, then OYO is your case at the embassy. Success rate will be very low!

that is what you call diplomacy, they are just being polite,
they cannot state the actual ugly reason to the whole world
even if they didnt overstay, nigerians are too many there,

If a president, with all the power and resources at his disposal, couldn't build world class hospital in over 3 years to get himself treated in it, what makes you think an average Nigerian on the street whose sole aim is to survive is going to develop Nigeria, let alone Africa to America/Canada standard?

Next time, this place is not going to be enough for you to ask this question. Just carry your bodi go all the embassies, ask all the visa applicants there why they can't fix Nigeria and come back to give your testimony.
