Hi guys, This travel ban means that Nurses can't travel to the USA again?? Is there any possibility that this restriction will be lifted? |

Compu001: Yes it can be lifted, infact the previous one has Chad before it was remove. If Trump lose election by November too, the incoming president will lift the ban. We will get feedback from some nurses. But I think it will not affect nurses. 1 Like |

Re: Nigerian Nurses And Midwives With The Dream Of Working Abroad Let's Meet Here. by pointednose: 9:20pm On Feb 01, 2020 |
What the article states is that Non-immigrant visas will not be affected. So as regards to skilled professionals, that will mean H1B visa will not be affected but I don't think Nurses qualify for H1B visas. My prayer is that Nigeria gets removed from that list, hopefully the Nigeria government keeps their promise of adhering to the security issues raised by the US. Valnos: |
Re: Nigerian Nurses And Midwives With The Dream Of Working Abroad Let's Meet Here. by Theyoungmatron: 10:01pm On Feb 01, 2020 |
Valnos:Whomever that wrote this article should kindly put it down cos it is very misleading. Most Nigerian nurses do not qualify for the H-!B visa. Eligibility: specialty occupation The US H1-B visa is designed to be used for staff in specialty occupations. The job must meet one of the following criteria to qualify as a specialty occupation: Have a minimum entry requirement of a Bachelor's or higher degree or its equivalent. The degree requirement for the job is common to the industry or the job is so complex or unique that it can be performed only by an individual with a degree. The employer normally requires a degree or its equivalent for the position. The nature of the specific duties is so specialized and complex that the knowledge required to perform the duties is usually associated with the attainment of a bachelor's or higher degree. Since RN jobs can be performed basically by a 2 year associate degree or a 4 year BSN degree holder. It nullifies the first and second requirements as BSN is not common for entry level RNs jobs in the US as it is in Canada. I think holders of BNSC maybe at an advantage since some selected US employers are now employing university graduates. Very sad that most Nigerian nurses do not have a 4 year degree in nursing. |

piro007:We are not physicians. Nurses falls under the skilled workers EB-3 immigration visa which is under the categories of immigration visas banned by Trump. Read that physician stuff well, sir. |
Re: Nigerian Nurses And Midwives With The Dream Of Working Abroad Let's Meet Here. by pointednose: 11:21am On Feb 02, 2020 |
Physicians National Interest waiver is for Physicians only. Even though Nurses are schedule A jobs because nurses are in shortage. I would have expected to be considerations for that. Hopefully, this ban will be lifted from the news we have read in the past couple of days [. For nurses who have started the process already. What are your recruiters saying concerning this ban?quote author=piro007 post=86301981] What I got frm us site, pls let's digest it Nigeria: Nigeria does not comply with the established identity-management and information-sharing criteria assessed by the performance metrics. Re: Nigerian Nurses And Midwives With The Dream Of Working Abroad Let's Meet Here. by Endywitty: 4:02pm On Feb 02, 2020 |
Actually the ban is a great advantage to Nigeria Nurses, WHY? Because every year, Nigeria is entitled to 4000 GREEN CARDS for specialized workers, however the country does not even meet up to 100 every year so it is usually redirected to other GREEN cards like marriage and family including the rich who buy up the remaining. In 2018 alone about 13,000 GREEN CARDS were issued to Nigerians. The same thing last year. So the ban now will give enough room to fast process the immigrant visa for healthcare workers on reserved visa. It reduces the competition and give you a great opportunity. Last year when this issue arose, I released information that Trump was planning to expand quota for green card and H1B for healthcare and IT workers and will shrink other green cards. I encouraged everyone to work hard to start their immigration program even when others were panicking. 2 Likes |

Endywitty: Hmm, I'm still trying to figure out your point here How does it fast track immigrant visas when a ban has been placed on all immigrant visas including the EB3 which nurses benefit from? Also the H1B you talked, do nurses meet the eligibility criteria ? 1 Like |

The only way out now is to hope the ban is lifted. The only people that wont be affected are those that have already been approved their green cards before it was announced.

Right now, NO immigrant visa are being issued . Whenever the ban is lifted , for those who want to immigrate to the US look into nursing agencies like avant, conexus who sponsor foreign nurses to the US. Nursing agencies are not the best because they take advantage of people but they at least get your foot in the door. |
