Nada! Oyedepo that probably has VP’s number,VP has consul general’s contact and someone thinks he can’t get his visa denial overturned to approved with a ‘phone call’?!

If it’s that straightforward he would have sent his passport to VP to forward to consular general for visa, or they come to his house to issue him a life long visa.

Obtaining a US visa isn't nearly as difficult as people fear. There are a couple of tips one must know, in order to ensure the first attempt is successful.

The problem is many applicants fail to research thoroughly on the methodology and ideology of the US consulars before charging headlong to put in their applications.

While applying by oneself is good, it is always better to seek the expertise of genuine and approved Visa & Protocol consultants to increase one's chances of getting the visa.

Let us look at some of the tips to take note of when considering submitting an application for the US and appearing before a Consular at an interview.

1. Travel history: the US is partial to applicants who have travelled outside of their countries/continents at least once and within the last 3-5 years before the application. This is a major factor the consular considers before making a decision to approve or reject an application.

2. Age: As unusual as this may seem, the average Consular prefers to issue visas to people between the ages of 40 and above than to people below that age bracket. This is because they assume people aged 40+ will have more ties to their home country than anyone else.

3. Marital status: For the US, being married and or with kids is another positive factor that may influence their decision to grant a visa. Married people who are of the of age 40 and above, are more likely to obtain a visa than people outside that demography.

4. Purpose of travel: The purpose of travel for certain individuals should vary from the others. For instance; a young, unmarried applicant is best advised to apply for a B1 visa or a Student H2 Visa; rather than for a B2 tourist visa. The logic behind this is simple. No consular believes an unmarried individual with no children will visit the US for pleasure only and this assumption is further heightened when the applicant also has a poor travel history.

5. Your composure: when appearing before a consular, it is crucial that you maintain a calm and confident composure. Avoiding eye contact, fidgeting or sweating are sure signs that an applicant is either lying, or is desperate to obtain the visa for ulterior reasons.

Other factors such as ties to your home country, source of income or nature of job, appearance etc form the basis for a visa approval or denial....

Does this then mean that an applicant is ruled out completely if they fail to meet up with tips 1-4? Certainly not. There are ways to "profile" an applicant into the ideal candidate for obtaining a US visa.

Hello Fam,

So let me post the questions I was asked:

Why are you travelling? To attend a friends wedding
Where do you work?
What do you do there?
Family composition?
Places I had travelled to?

While trying to respond to the last question, the VO just cut in and approved the visa.

The denial rate was high; between 80 - 85% of visa applications were denied while I was there; from pastors, students, corporate workers, grand mothers going to take care of grand children, to tourists and visitors.

It was really sad seeing people being denied after the 60k expended.

I strongly believe that the system already 'pre-approves' or 'pre-denies' visa applications cos the VO wasnt interested in my responses and kept on looking at his system. I felt he just wanted to be sure some of the details in the application corresponds with the responses I provided.

Meanwhile, I go still tell you, una wey dey support the disaster GMB, una no dey go different market or EMBASSY from us. This refusal (and so many others of late) is a whole lot related to what this current government has turned the country into. Till 5-6 years ago here sef, everywhere still soft for that embassy, ordinary Ghana, SA or and UAE travel history still dey work that time. But una see una na? cry

Trump Administration Adds Six Countries to Travel Ban
President Trump added Africa’s biggest country, Nigeria, as well as Myanmar, Eritrea, Kyrgyzstan, Sudan and Tanzania, to his restricted travel list.

WASHINGTON — President Trump on Friday added six countries to his list of nations facing stringent travel restrictions, a move that will virtually block immigration from Africa’s most populous nation, Nigeria, and from Myanmar, where the Muslim minority is fleeing genocide.

The proclamation will take effect on February 22. Immigrants who obtain visas before then will still be able to travel to the United States, officials said. Nonimmigrant visas, including those for students and certain temporary workers, as well as visas reserved for potential employees with specialized skills, will not be affected by the ban.

Hi, good evening everyone, my brother (not married) wants to come for my graduation and also at the same time, his company wants him to go for a conference, so it's like killing two birds with one stone. Please can someone tell me the chances of him getting the visa, putting in mind that he's single not married. thanks y'all.

EDIT: he has traveled to two other countries for work

Before you spread fake news. The main reason for the ban is because we dont have a good intelligence sharing mechanism. Note: the ban never affected this tread or make sure you don't post nonsense here. If your intentions are genuine you'd get VISA. The ban is for those seeing permanent residency

Doesn't feel good to be a Nigerian born American right now!

President Trump lost me this time and as a Republican he will NOT be getting my vote in November!

There is no basis for that inclusion.

No Sir. We have already paid the price through restriction of visas. This is due to failure of the Nigerian government to comply with security protocols. The last security report from EU was a clear sign that the clamp down had begun.

Nigeria has also been in the news for the wrong reasons especially as regards human rights abuses. Most of the developed countries are tired of our wahala. It will be difficult to find any that will speak up in our favour against this restriction.

you fail to include Philipine, Egypt and Uganda..... They do not understand what is going on. Politics is bigger than your B1/B2, I'm not denying the fact that the Govt has failed massively but we do not help matters with the way we migrate to U.S and stay put illegally.

Asides from the security lapses the US asked the Nigerian government to correct, my personal view is that refurbishing, sorry, rehabilitating terrorists is a big joke to the world at large. The federal government is not serious enough yet.

Let's chill with the ban. I am hoping it will help in the long run.

The UK does the same with returning ISIS Fighters, some EU Countries do the same with returning ISIS Fighters - the only difference, they are tracked and made to check-in with law enforcement like criminals on paroles, although I know that's foolishness, they always end up carrying out terror attacks (repentance is a matter of the heart, to be on the safe side, its better to kill the terrorist - Israeli Style).
I think Nigeria should bid the US farewell, and look elsewhere, Trump only respects strength even in countries that look weak e.g where the Philippine President threatened to tear up a military treaty with the US because an associate was being threatened by the US, they cooled with the action.
Maybe that won't work, the US probably has all the "nudes" of the Nigerian elite.
