Bro I dont believe this story. ATMs are programmed to give the card first before dispensing cash. If they don't do it in that sequence, most people will just do their transactions and leave the card there. However, what is most common is people leaving their cash on the machine after their transaction. The machine has also been programmed to pull back the cash after few minutes and credit the card back. I am not sure about Naija's ATMs sha.

@OP, it's not the fault of the bank you're careless with your card. They wouldnt refund you. You can go to Alieexpress support to stop the order.

Cash retract is disabled on naija ATMs. That the message u see before u insert Ur card in the machine. It's a CBN requirement

@op, I had the same experience with two banks (within a space of 5 days or so) but in my own case, my card wasn't stolen but very much in my custody and no, I didn't divulge my card details (though I suspect my card details were harvested by the criminals through apps on my phone or at the ATM)

Back to the issue, my GTB card was used for an unauthorized transaction and I got the alert which I quickly reported. GTB asked me to fill a Card dispute form and luckily for me, my funds were restored in about a month.

But the other Bank, hmmmm...though they were supposed to be smarter, failed to recover my funds, I lost my money.

I'll advise you to quickly reach out to the bank to enable them initiate the recovery process presto

If it's international notification alert you are safe but if it's debit alert you are not, nothing the bank can do about it, just contact aliexpress customer services

Something is telling me that the OP is nursing the idea of using someone's card to shop online, but wants to know how safe he will be after the act....

It over possible, that's why it is good to always protect your card,the person needs just 3 things.

The expire date, the card number and the 3 numbers at the back.

Some sites won't even ask for confirmation.

I think card pin is also required... noticed quickteller don't send otp code again for transactions to be confirmed, don't know if it is because I saved my atm details on their site and use it regularly.

Exactly. Inasmuch as the shipment process has not been initiated ( which usually takes a day), the transactions can be reversed.

I've contacted my bank.. They have confirmed I the card is blocked, and asked me to visit the bank to fill a dispute. I hope I get my money back.

This is an issue o. Block the card. Speak to your card issuer/bank. Then try to chat with AliExpress and tell them your card was fraudulently used and you want the order cancelled and the funds sent back to you account. All these may take up to 28 days to investigate and fix

The first step is to contact aliexpress. Cos once that order has been despatch, aliexpress cannot refund the money. If aliexpress can halt the transaction, then the possibility of a refund would he high.

Unlike some online shops, Aliexpress will not ask for a password. I tried that with my oda card and it went thru without asking for pin. In other words, if ur card gets to the hand of a wicked person and he/she snaps d front and back, then can they use it on sites like aliexpress....

You could also report to security agencies like the police and EFCC so that they can track the culprit with the help of ali Express

Please act on the last paragraph too. Efcc would be morethan happy to oblige you and pin the criminal down.

Wow! That is really porous. I think we need to be a step ahead of these hackers. Our cards won't stop working if we erase the long code of numbers in front of our card or the 3 at the back... Without these, your card becomes useless to these thieves.

Fill dispute with your bank that you did not initiate the transaction. It will be refunded.
