Thanks... it doesnt state if h1b to green card is impacted which is equally important. If you cannot convert h1b to green card then some companies will even be more hesitant to hire Nigerians for h1b

Then what was used to evaluate the international students at Urbana Champagne to determine their admissibility into their Law School?

You must understand that prior to now, LSAT is or was a requirement to get into Law school in the USA. Things may be different now, you can guide the person that asked the question and tell him what is needed to get admission into the Law School at Urbana Champagne.

All I know is that there must be an admission test to evaluate the admissibility of the applicants, maybe they now use GRE as a parameter too in the University of Illinois Urbana Champagne. WHO KNOWS!

Many thanks brother, I asked her to email grad coord for admission inquiry.

I’ve picked up my passport, and my transcript is as follows:
School: Clark university
Course: Environmental science (MSc)
Funding: 40% tuition scholarship
Deficit: $35k
It was a long interview as I had to wait severally during the interview

Me: Good morning
VO: good morning pass your passport and I-20 please

VO: how did you find this school (whilst typing)
Me: it all started with a simple google search really, i (she cuts in)

VO: how many other schools did you apply to
Me: I applied to 4 and named them (brown university, northeastern university, university of Maryland, Bowie state university)

VO: how many admits?
Me: all except brown university

Vo: so why this one? Why Clark university?
Me: well apart from the scholarship I was offered I was particularly interested in methods and skills courses I’d be taking

VO: name one?
Me: well I’d be taking the advanced rastar geographic information systems course where I’d be taught using the idrisi software under the terrset series developed by Clark’s lab in clarkuniversity in 1987, it was recently remodeled in 2015 and I’d be taught how to use this software to develop.. (vo cuts in again )

VO: please hold on (gets on the phone and a superior appears and they turn off the microphone so I can’t really hear what they are saying and looking at the screen)
Turns back after a few minutes, with the superior still standing and both looking at me

Does your father have a valid B1 visa? (Looking at her screen)

Me: yes

VO: what is his name?
Me: tells

VO: what is his first name?
Me: tells all his names that I know

VO: WHAT IS HIS FIRST NAME!!(still looking at her screen)
Me: tells

VO: where does he work?
Me: tells

Vo: okay, do you have any relative in the U.S?
Me: yes, my uncle

Vo: where does he live?
Me: DC

Vo: Washington DC?
Me: yeah

VO: how did he become a citizen? When did he come to America? How long has he been in the states?
Me: I don’t know, he’s been there a long time before I was born

Vo: okay.. (Nods her head) excuse me please ( stands up and turns off the mic again and goes to the back and reappears a few seconds later)

Vo: what was your GRE score?
Me: verbal: 152, quant:150, and AWA: 4.0

Vo: that’s 302
Me: yes

All this while she was just looking at her screen and/or typing

Vo: are you married?
Me:no

VO: any kids?
Me: none

Vo: earlier on, you said you applied to university of Maryland, they have a stronger programme than Clark’s? So why not university of Maryland?

Me: No, not necessarily, also I will be doing a collaborative research at Clark university with the university of Maryland on 3 sites in Massachusetts, Virginia, and georgia state.

Vo: looks at me with one raised, eye brow through her glasses and looks back at her system and continues to type

VO: you said you had a scholarship?
Me: yes

Vo: so who will be paying the remaining deficit of $35k
Me: my father ( tells his name) he has worked for —-company for —- years (at this point she was already nodding her head Cos she was familiar with the name already)

Vo: okay I will be approving your visa
Collect your passport in 3 days

Me: thanks

For the Fall/Summer 2020 Candiadtes

It's been a long time here.. My apologies for the unreplied mails and mentions. I had to take some time off to focus on my studies.

I had lots of candidates contacting me to ask if there is still hope to study in the United States and my response is still a big YES.

The ban is placed on only immigrant visas ( Visa that will require permanent stay, e.g wife filing for husband or husband filing for mother for permenant residence, etc.). It does not affect non-immogrant visas( F, J and H categories visa).

Visa approval has always been a stuggle for Nigerians. But where there is a will, there is a way.

That been said, don't lose your steam! keep pushing and elevating your game. No one will deny an exceptional candidate admission, funding and Visa.
Do everything within your capacity to be exceptional.

Peace,
B2G

Instead of looking through people transcript to pick holes.... why dont you open your mind to a balance view of things. The point for and the point against so that when you make a decision it is an informed decision . Not just for school but life in general

Not every arguement against a topic is about bitter, trash jealousy or some other stupid words people use easily .

Experience is usually the best teacher and it's very powerful sometimes hearing from other experiences. It makes you gain insight and learn what ever mistake or enhance your journey in life.

Hello,
I need advice urgently. I applied to 4 schools : University of Toledo, Creighton University, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and University of Rhode Island. I received an approval from Southern Illinois plus teaching assistantships with a deficit of $4500. They are asking me to send my original transcript and also upload a statement of account before the admission will be official. Now my problem is, accepting this offer from SIUE, does it mean I have forfeited the other schools who are yet to make their admission decisions? SIUE was my safe school as the other schools rank higher, won't the VO query me on why I chose SIUE over Other schools? For the second question, I am afraid telling the VO that only SIUE accepted me will make me look like an incompetent student which I am not.

I dont know if it's right or wrong but I do it anyways ..lol. I have accepted an offer and when a better one came along I went to reject the first offer ... I am sure school understand that why they have last minute waiting list .

On the second question... if only Siue accepted that will not stop you from getting your Visa. Prepare well for the overall interview and other questions.

Nice but his statements are usually vague. He hasn't said the reason why he is frustrated over there.

The waiver means : allow out-of-state students to pay tuition at in-state rates. International student usually pay "out of state tuition"

For example according to Google this is the tuition for Texas tech In-state 8,428 USD, Out-of-state 18,220 USD.... so if given a waiver an international student will pay 8k instead of 18k so a discount/ saving of 10k usd

Exactly my point. If you have been following his posts you will notice that he is implying we don't come to USA because things are hard.

I asked him how? He didn't give any explanation but kept on hammering that we should avoid USA and that is discouraging.

He has refused to share his experience of the difficulties he is experiencing over there that is making him discourage others from coming.

Does it look like a good offer?

Also, they asked for about $21k statement to be issued I-20. Is that the amount i will pay for the whole program including rent and books?

A good offer is always relative to your pocket .... I come from a place where anything is better than nothing if it a school I want . Well not anything. If the outstanding balance is doable by my pocket

21k minus 8k is 13k .. so maybe that cover rent, books and any other fees. Usually it is listed what this entails and it usually an estimate. You can be more prudent and spend less and then if you get job on campus it helps offset some of these

If SUIE deadline to accept the admission isn’t close, I will suggest you wait for other schools to send their decisions.

MS data science is expensive and usually not funded. MS business analytics is quite expensive and it being done in business school as packaged deal with MBA makes funding slim.

As you have a computer science degree, look for MS in computer science or computer Information Systems. This will increase your chances of funding then you can do business analytics option. You can always learn analytics online or in boot camps.

You can kill two birds with one stone. Check my other posts
Thanks for this amazing response, it’s an eye opener.

I read your post about going for MS information systems in a business school. Can you please offer some suggestions. Thanks again

They didn't even mention anything about deadline. They only said I had been approved by the department and I have been chosen as a teaching assistant. They now said I need to send my official transcript, degree certificate and proof of funds.
