The problem start with you assuming in your own mind what probably doesn't exist. Often what people have is not hatred but fear. Let me give you an example. My mum used to have a jewelry business somewhere close to Balogun in Lagos. It's a business she was into for quite a while. Most of her neighbours are Igbo male traders with relatively few Yoruba women as well. Though she had good relationship with them because I used to visit her and I saw the camaraderie between her and the Igbo traders. In fact she would joke with me that one of them was her "husband". Usually she used to come home complaining how these Igbo traders used different tactics to price products in the market by deliberately driving down prices, and it's done in unison solely by Igbo traders. And in such situation, the Igbo traders dominate total sales in the market and when others can't cope they had no choice but give up their businesses. So, how do you expect people to feel in such situation? So, people often have fears and not hatred.

My response to her then would be that they also needed to get organized and be more competitive. Thankfully, she survived and eventually retired from the business due to old age.

That woman has commitment, which is what most Nigerian employees lack. Imagine earning that meager salary that you and your family can hardly survive on and still you are the first person to resume work ar 6:30 am every week days. That's commitment. I know her commitment is not to her employer but to those she is serving. The "poor" helpless students. That woman deserves an award. Especially looking at the fact that she is in a "war-torn" locality. She could have moved to her native state.
