RuudVanNisteroy: Nigeria is too polarised. And that's not good for a country. A Fulani man will prefer to call a Fulani man from Chad or Niger Republic his brother than to call Yorubas or Igbos or any other ethnic group in Nigeria his brothers. That's exactly what is causing the various tension in Nigeria now. Buhari would rather give people's lands to foreigners from Chad because they are his tribesmen. I have always said it. And I will repeat it again here. The only way forward for Nigeria is an amicable and peaceful division into its component parts. Anything other than that won't work. Elections in Nigeria are all about tribe and religion. That's why we currently have a professor of Law deputising for an 80 something year old Baba who should ordinarily be confined to old people's home. When election comes around in 2023, mark my words, it will still be along ethno-religious lines and not who is the best and most intelligent of the candidates. Do you ever wonder why Nigeria has 36 ministers at the federal level? 36 MINISTERS. Doing what? Despite the number of ministers, electricity is as poor as ever. Just look at the challenges Nigeria is facing in the year 2020. They were the same challenges Nigeria faced in the early 80s. Poor electricity, poor social amenities, security challenges, poor infrastructure, corruption... The same problems, all the time. So tell me, do you see any hope for Nigeria? A country that for 40 years and billions of dollars after still can't fix ordinary electricity. Something other nations have taken for granted. No hope for Nigeria unless we want to keep deceiving ourselves. Best bet is separation. Let the people form smaller and more manageable nations on their own terms. 8 Likes |

FrLukas:Separation is just a convenient argument simply because we always like to feel the "other person" is the problem. After the Separation, what happens to multi-tribal states? Will it also require separation along those tribal lines? There is failure of governance across all tribes and religion. The Southeast (who are champions of separation) is an eyesore. They have not demonstrated good governance with the little they have in their region. Or is it the Fulanis that are stopping Southeast governors from providing their people with good roads, quality healthcare, quality education, etc? The reality is that there is a conspiracy of the ruling class (and that cuts across all tribes and religion) to keep their people oppressed so they can always lord over them. Now, there's an even bigger problem, and that is the fact that the problem is not just limited to the ruling class. Nearly every citizen has similar mindset of cheating and shortchanging everyone else. From artisans, to civil servants to pastors to lecturers, I mean everyone is always trying to exploit others for their personal gain at the expense of public good. Even if you were to wipe out this current set of leaders and bring in new people completely, the same cycle is likely to continue...simply because it's an endemic societal problem and not just a leadership problem. 8 Likes 2 Shares |

There are many famous Afro Dutch such as Patrick Kluivert,Seedorf, Edgar Davids,Ruud Gullit that are national icons that will always be reverred and even celebrated by racists in the country

Bevista: I hear what you're saying loud and clear. Your points are all very valid. Will breaking up of Nigeria translate to a better life for the people? Maybe, maybe not. But then, no one will have the effrontery to blame other people for their own failure. I feel that ethnicities that want to stand on their own should be allowed to. Let them forge their own path. Americans have the American dream. Nigerians cannot have a Nigerian dream because we are a different people. Our hopes and aspirations are totally varied. You only tried to shoot down my points. You didn't propose solutions to the problems. How do you have a nation where the people don't see themselves as one? How does that nation move forward? I am being realistic here. We have faced the same problems over and over again. Right from the 60s. My submission is that it'd be easier to monitor elected officials if the population and landmass isn't that much and if the diversity is reduced. Minority ethnic groups can form a nation with others whom they think share their ideals as a people. Continuing as a Nigerian nation is not an option if we must progress as a people. 50 years from now, Nigeria will still be battling poor, maybe even poorer electricity supply. Our children and children's children will learn the phrase "Up NEPA!!!!!" Like Pius Adesanmi, (God rest his soul) said, Nigerians living in Nigeria will not get to experience the 21st century in the 21st century. That phrase needs to be meditated upon, day and night. 6 Likes 1 Share |

FrLukas:Your points are well noted and they actually hold some merit. I think there's too much distrust in the land, which makes separation a reasonable option just to solve that problem. Having said that, I still have my issue with separation especially as it concerns Biafra. Why did the SE annex parts of the SS and MB to the Biafra project. They did this without any consultations with the leaders of these regions. This is the same Lordship/conquering mentality that they're always accusing the Fulanis. They first annex the regions and then argue that they can conduct referendum to confirm if they want to join or not. What arrant nonsense! How can the smaller tribes of SS and MB join forces with a dominant SE when they know that the SE with their numerical strength will dominate that new country politically for as long as they want? As you now see, the distrust we were trying to solve through Separation has just cascaded lower to the new contraption. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Bevista: If there is one thing the Fulanis and the Igbos have in common, it is the fact that they are the only tribes out of over 300 ethnic groups in Nigeria to repeatedly voice their desire to DOMINATE others. In fact they are the only two ethnic groups in Nigeria to have used and still continue to use that word DOMINATE. Now, if there's going to be a break up of Nigeria, every ethnic group will determine where they want to go. That is why it is called SELF DETERMINATION. Nobody tells you where to go as a people. Only you as a people will determine that. The greatest mistake the minor ethnicities in the South can ever make is join the East to form one country. A worse scenario than what is currently happening in Nigeria is what will occur. And I see the union exploding within 5-10 years. I think this is perfectly clear to Southern leaders. So I don't think they'll ever make that mistake. 4 Likes 2 Shares |

If the SW, SS, SE, Kwara, Kogi , Plataeu and Benue should form one Country, there will be three power bkocks- Yorubas, the minorities and the Igbos. These will ensure balance of forces and checkmate each other. FrLukas: |

Britain and France are beautiful too, but go check their colonies. They exploited, stole from their colonies to make themselves greater. Colonization in my opinion was all about satisfying their own spefish interest. They had no genuine interest in making us great or equal as they.... So forget it. The fact they're this beautiful doesn't mean they would have replicated same here if they had ruled us. They once had a colony in Africa, they wrecked havoc and exploited. Go check the history (Ghana and SA) 1 Like |
