God did not and does not send evil spirit to torment anyone. It is just the popular belief and opinion of the people who lived during those times due to their spiritual immaturity. Today, we understand that rainfall happens due to evaporation and condensation. Many many years ago, people thought that it was God that caused the rains. Today, we know better. Same thing. 2 Likes |

Spirit has many usage. So the one used in that verse is not holy spirit that we all talk about. Impelling Mental Inclination. Ruʹach and pneuʹma are both used to designate the force that causes a person to display a certain attitude, disposition, or emotion or to take a certain action or course. While that force within the person is itself invisible, it produces visible effects. This use of the Hebrew and Greek terms rendered “spirit” and basically related to breath or to air in motion is paralleled to a considerable degree by English expressions. Thus, we speak of a person as ‘putting on airs,’ or of manifesting an ‘air of calmness’ or of ‘having a bad spirit.’ We speak of ‘breaking a person’s spirit,’ in the sense of discouraging and disheartening him. So Saul has gone against God. That is the reason God was making him feel bad, that is, Saul's conscience might be making him restless. Other translations didn't use Evil spirit. Many used bad spirit. If a parent is loving to his child and when the parent want to discipline the child for doing what is bad, will you call the parent evil? God is Holy and nothing evil can be found in him. Thanks |

Very blurring understanding! Using before Christ's birth stories to overshadow after His birth's conclusion is a carnal analysis. Logic reasoning and letter reading is carnality, it kills. What about the Holyghost, and power, and authority he gave us? What purpose does they serve? [quote author=uzohrome post=86306518]Yes the evil spirit is from God. God works with the devil most times as a repercussion for offenders. You know that Jesus Christ is the head of all principality and power. God knew that all power belongs to him and make Christ to take charge over them. I often tell some persons if God did not bind or kill the devil who are you to do so. All you need do is to believe in God and born again in Christ and the devil will depart from you. Devil will always have one on one discussion with God about any situation. If God say yes go ahead then the devil will do a perfect work. Check The story of Job. Devil and God in a round table maybe with some bottle of wine |

Sense Knowledge has finished people. Everything ( Everything You have or have not conceived) comes from God. It is the reason He said in Deuteronomy 30: 19. This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live. There's not place in the Bible, God violated any humans freewill. He only worked in the circumstances, conditions, events and situations surrounding them. People think freewill is based on actions. It's no wonder what Jesus Christ said in Matthew 5 fulfilment of the Law Matthew 5: 28. But I tell you that anyone *who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.* Free Will starts from Your heart. Anyways, May God continue to watch over us all. |

MamaFryo:He commands all...even the evil spirit. Jesus dialogue with demons pleading to be sent into swine. Mk 5:11-14 Then Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” “My name is Legion,” he replied, “for we are many.” 10 And he begged Jesus again and again not to send them out of the area. 11 A large herd of pigs was feeding on the nearby hillside. 12 The demons begged Jesus, “Send us among the pigs; allow us to go into them.” 13 He gave them permission, and the impure spirits came out and went into the pigs. The herd, about two thousand in number, rushed down the steep bank into the lake and were drowned. 14 Those tending the pigs ran off and reported this in the town and countryside, and the people went out to see what had happened. 15 When they came to Jesus, they saw the man who had been possessed by the legion of demons, sitting there, dressed and in his right mind; and they were afraid. 16 Those who had seen it told the people what had happened to the demon-possessed man—and told about the pigs as well. 17 Then the people began to plead with Jesus to leave their region. |

Almighty God is never in possession of evil; but the fallen angels and their warriors. Yahweh is what the original Hebrew translation of the Bible translation refers to as God and so wrongly as Yahweh is only a god(lk Ogun, here) of Israel - not Almighty God(Olodumare). Xtians have been so misled. And Saul's ways was equally inviting of evil spirit... Nb. 1 Like |

First and foremost, we must begin with the context. We have to look at Saul (first king of Israel) and his situation as well as Ahab (later king of Israel) and his brother-in-law Jehoshaphat (later king of Judah). Saul started off great but finished ignominiously in defeat and death. Saul had lived a life of chronic disobedience to God, and therefore had opened himself up to demonic oppression.” In the latter case, King Ahab of Israel (the northern kingdom after the split) wanted his brother-in-law King Jehoshaphat of Judah (the southern kingdom) to join him in a war against an enemy; however, Jehoshaphat wanted to know that God blessed this campaign. Ahab called on his 600 pagan prophets who assured him of victory, while the one godly prophet Micaiah answered the king with “two parabolic visions.” The latter vision deals with the lying spirit speaking through false prophets that Ahab wanted to believe. Since Micaiah refused to cooperate with Ahab he was imprisoned while Ahab went off to defeat and death. When Saul shut God out of his life through his own prideful and willful disobedience, we can well understand why the Spirit of God had no place in Saul’s heart, soul, mind, and body. However, it is not so easy to understand an evil spirit not only entering him but coming from God.Bible’s teachings about God. Scripture affirms that God is completely righteous, hates evil, and never does anything unjust.” The writer also reminds us that we must factor in that God allows certain things to happen that are warnings and lessons. Also, the evil spirit was used by God as were pagan rulers as instruments of justice and judgment. Of course, there was the element of being instruments of redemption. We read “in light of Saul’s disregard for God’s moral order, it (the evil spirit) was also intended to drive him to repent and turn back to the Lord God, who is Master of all the created order, will use even demons, against their will, for redemptive purposes.” “God may and does occasionally impel sinners to reveal the wickedness of their hearts in deed” – as was most clearly seen in the case of Ahab who so wanted to believe lies so he could do as he pleased. I Kings, describe how God knew that “false prophets, possessed by a lying spirit, would feed Ahab’s ego by assuring him of victory in the projected battle.” In conclusion Kaiser is most helpful when he writes: “God used the false declarations of the false prophets (with lying spirits) that Ahab was so enamored with as his instruments of judgment the same way he might use a heathen nation to chastise Israel (that is to say, his use of Assyria in punishing Israel, Is. 10:5; or his use of Babylon for similar reasons, Hab. 1:2-11). We can affirm without hesitation or qualification that both the willful Saul and wicked Ahab had opened themselves up to evil spirits which God allowed in order to bring an end to their evil reigns either by repentance or judgment. In hindsight, this was their time of judgment – that only came after a time of grace and pleadings from godly prophets to repent of their sins and return to God. 2 Likes |
