First point is moot. Madrid is in Spain. And they get loads of time off after Christmas.

Secondly, if everybody travelled to Qatar at that same time for the same reason, things will be fine. Liverpool HAD to travel to Qatar having it at the back of their mind that they’ll have to return to England AND play games they’ve missed.

And lastly, not many teams travel to Astana to play games. Man Utd traveled to Astana WHEN others were also traveling outside the shores of England. And did you see who Ole fielded for that game? U-18s.

City played 2 legs of Carling cup inside the same town. That’s different from traveling to Qatar for another competition.

It’s like going for an academic boot camp right in the middle of a semester. You’re progressing academically but you know you will have loads to catch up on when you return.

There is no big issue if he didnt play a first-team, many clubs do that in EFL cup but the first team manager still coaches the team despite that

I have read from Crouch, Rio Ferdinand even Danny Murphy have said this was wrong for a coach to skip a competition whether its the league or cups.

Apart from the difference in quality let’s not ignore the difference in styles.
