It’s interesting to note that PMB was a Brigadier (now known as Brigadier General) as far back as 1979. Six years later in August 1985 when his military government was toppled he was just a Major General. He chose not to award himself the rank of General as many are wont to do. He continued to maintain his rank as procedure demanded.
