Why will you ban Keke too? You didn't create or buy more cars before banning. I wonder who is your special adviser. |

This was the Point and kill governor during Governorship election campaign “So, part of the things we are going to be doing is not to leave anybody behind. People are currently using a system that is working for them. Meaning that you see some okada riders that are branded..that are using smart pays to pay when you finish the journey. We are trying to harmonize all of them and be able to come up with a regulation system where we can account for every okada rider. But we know better now ... |

TOTAL BAN is needed in every part of Lagos. When Okadas were not here many years ago there was peace of mind except for the danfo wahala. People trekked peacefully and happily. Previous governments (military, AD, ACN and APC) ignored the growing population of Lagos and abdicated the responsibility of providing an efficient transportation system. BRT (the franchise made the oga and his boys rich using state resources) was badly managed and failed woefully. Most Keke drivers graduate from Okada riding and maintain the tempo of irresponsible driving. We do not need them. Those trekking should bear for a little while as government moves to correct the lapses in the system. Next to be totally banned MUST be danfos. Enough of igbo smoking and paraga drinking nuisances troubling the lives of innocent people everyday. The nonsense nurtw MUST be banned and the lazy jaguda youths and irresponsible amala eating big belle old men should find other things to do. Ambode gave a deadline to proscribe danfos but the yeye people rallied in the name of politics, sponsored by some politicians who only think of their pockets to stop Ambode. So for me Okada, Keke and Danfos must be totally banned for us to have the Lagos of our dream. |

For the first time in my adult life as a Lagosian, l drove in Obalende without struggling for driving space with Okada and tricycle.. Still l still think Keke , Gokada and Opay should be regulated and registered not banned... I wouldn't have driven to Obalende from Osborne if there are Gokada or Opay, and these are more flexible and faster to navigate Obalende and VI traffic |

I want to use this medium to thank the Lagos State government for the courage and great vision. I think the ban should be permanent. If you know you cannot cope then leave the state we are tired of living like animals. The next should be ban on street gates and thirdly the state government should look into shops that are built on fences. Any shop that does not meet the states regulated standard should be demolished and laws should be made to force landlords to provide toilet facilities for shops. God bless the governor of Lagos State and the law abiding citizens. Amen 1 Like |

Bullcrap leaders who have no vision on what the future tells...imagine a multi million naira businesses u granted license to operate and in less than a year u place a ban....is the lag govt not suppose to inform these companies on the risk of a future ban on bikes? Rendering millions of people jobless... Leadership without foresight is not leadership Modified: There are ways to tackle security issues not like this because the people both jobless and employed citizens are all at risk... |

Honestly, it was over the weekend, when I was speaking to folks in my neighborhood that I realized that a lot of people actually support the okada ban, but are careful about saying so in public. In the early 90s, there were no Okadas. and we all walked to the bus-stop, so how did this thing grow so much till it became a huge nuisance? I drove past several major streets over the weekend, and for the first time in years realized just how wide the streets were, as Okada and Keke people had converted a large chunk of the road for loitering.. Also, if you dont know how big a threat these Okada people are, I beseech you to go to a number of streets in the middle of the mainland at 10pm upwards, and see literally dozens of Okada-men whith no homes, no identities sleeping on their bikes and ready to cause mayhem at the drop of a hat. Maybe then you would appreciate this ban. Even neighborhoods not included in the ban are begging to get included - https://punchng.com/ajao-estate-residents-protest-want-community-included-in-okada-ban-list/ 2 Likes 1 Share |

These people ride bike in the day and rob in the night..... The next move should be to clear all the people residing under the bridges of the state...their next move would be to start robbing people of thero valuables since they have no means of surviving, and 99% of them reside under the bridge |

We now know the script behind the Okada ban. It has nothing to do with insecurity. It has absolutely nothing to do with the silly and irresponsible conspiracy theory about some fictitious Boko Haram planting their operatives in Lagos. Come to think of it, why would Boko disrupt Lagos? How would the break up of Nigeria benefit Buhari, the chief patron of Boko? Is Buhari not busy rehabilitating his killer kinsmen? So who told you Boko is a security risk to Nigeria? The script behind the Okada ban is the multi billion naira this transport sector is generating. The sector has remained virtually in the hands of the operators in the informal sector. The state is not making a dime from the multi billion generated monthly in this sector. The only department of the state making millions from this informal sector is that headed by the Agbero-general of the state- Dr MC Oluomo PhD. DSc (Agbero Escatology). One tech disruptor saw the vast opportunity and decided to move in. That was the arrival of Gokada. They moved in by paying a few millions to the state. They got all the required license to operate and business started. Even the disruptor could not believe their luck when the millions started rolling in. They were like “Yeeparipa, aiye mi temi bami. Na money dey flow like this?” Even the Okada drivers working for Gokada could not believe their luck. One lady who was in tears when the ban was introduced claimed she was making N20k a day. That’s N100k in 5 days. News of the billions they’re making started filtering into the corridors of power at Bourdillon. Sangodele, the Life-Governor of Lagos State and the Baba of all Lagosians, Oko iya won L’eko, summoned Pointius Pilate to an emergency meeting. According to sources at the meeting, he was like: “Pointius, Ode ni e. Ori e de ti daru. And if you continue like this, I will make sure I ambode you too.” He continued, “right now you, Pointius, are the greatest threat to my Presidential ambition. I heard one Gokada man, a Chinco, is making billions under your nose, in my state, and you’re just looking like lookman... ...how am I supposed to replenish my Bullion Van?” With a tone of finality, he said, “I want a big chunk of the billions to start rolling into my Alpha Beta conglomerate account.” Pointius was escorted out. Our source said he was farting in the car throughout the long journey back to Alausa. The rest as they say in Mandarin is history. 2 Likes |
