Hulk616 is actually right.

I just rewatched endgame this afternoon and endgame was really robbed.

Infact I strongly think that the movie is so good that a new category ought to be created in its honour.

The category should be named "Yeye comic fanboys movie of the year" and hulk616 and urahara should receive it on marvel behalf.

Nonsense and far from home.

LMAO you got me there WISE ONE. grin

so happy PARASITE won in the best picture and best international film categories.

truly deserved imho.

it also won best adapted screenplay and best director.

4 Oscars in one night for a non english language film is no joke o.

my other favorite film of the year 1917 won 3 oscars.

1917 cleaned house in the technical categories, which was expected considering the fact that it was a very technical film. it reminds me of DUNKIRK a lot.

good night for all nominated films in the best picture category....

they all won something, even LITTLE WOMEN & BOMBSHELL.

last but not the least, epic 2019 for joaquin phoenix. congrats to him for winning best actor.

My bro , Endgame doesn't deserve best picture.

My point was that Oscars could be quite bias.

For those of you saying Black Panther was nominated for the Best Picture a year ago, you do know that it only got nominated out of sentiments and political bias.

If The Dark Knight and Dark Knight Rises could be sacrilegiously ignored by The Academy those years for Best Picture, there is absolutely no way Black Panther stood a chance with it's Average Storyline. These Movies were what paved the way for comic book Movies today to become relevant in Awards season as the Oscars adjusted a bit after the Backlash on ignoring The Dark Knight for Best Picture.

It was merely just nominated to appreciate how Iconic the movie was and it's portrayal of the African Race as a unique, smart and technological advanced People. It was MORE of Racial card Politics than TRULY artistic GENIUS.

"Africa has its own Superhero Now" .

I swear. This year Oscars just spread out the Award deservedly for all of them. It's this year I'll truly approve any day and time.

Not much complaints to make on this Winners. The only Gripe I could find is The Irishman not winning Anything. Especially Best Supporting Actor to Al Pacino.

They did but Nolan did not.

Dunkirk - Best sound mixing , best sound editing and best film editing

The dark Knight - best supporting actor and best sound editing.

Nothing for egbon Nolan.

With all due respect aire, if you bring Far from home into this Oscar discussion again, I will swear for you.

I jejely took my date to the cinema to watch Hobbs and Shaw, she took ages to get ready and by the time we arrived, we couldn't make the showtime so in her finite wisdom since she doesn't know better, she said we should stay and watch far from home, since I know how pedestrian Spiderman movie can be, I was telling myself to respect my old age and wait for the HD download version but you know how persuasive women can be.... Long story short, when we finished watching Far from home, even she, non comics fan said that the movie is very forgettable and I am pretty sure that if I call her right now, she won't remember Jack about the movie.

Is that the kind of movie you want to be nominated for Oscar's best picture?

Oga, I am waiting.
Just mention far from home in this matter again!
urahara:

Ma , may God bless you , that's the point I have been trying to make.

There is absolutely nothing special about Black panther . No deep message , nothing at all , it was purely on the same level as far from home.

None of them deserve to be nominated for best picture

If Spiderman far from home was about a Kenyan or Nigerian super hero , I can bet that it would have been nominated to.

Because of politics

If black panther had nothing to do with Africa, it would never have even smelt a nomination.

Are you deliberately ignoring where I implied that my point was just to show that black panther and far from home are just far from special ?
Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Nobody: 5:43pm On Feb 10, 2020
Black Panther is actually special in its own right and deserves nomination because it is politically and culturally significant.

Can same be said for far from home?

No , no it doesn't.

Black panther did not deserve a nomination.

By your logic all it takes to be nominated for an Oscar is to showcase African culture.

If black panther was based in Japan it would never have even smelt any nomination.

That nomination was obviously because of sentiments.

Must you always run in circle?
Black Panther is not your average superhero movie.

How many times have you seen a black superhero movie make as much "noise" as black panther.

The accompanying political and cultural sentiments brought about the nomination.

You can't have sentiments about something that is not special in its own right.

Bro black panther is special to us because it's about Africas first superhero and an advanced African country.

But when it comes to the storyline , it's just average.

As good as dark Knight was , it wasn't even nominated .

Black panther did not deserve that nomination.

Period.

Themes in Spiderman far away from home

Deception

Responsibility

Legacy

Vengeance

The butterfly effect.

Questions on what is real and not ?

Mentor-protege relationship

Conflicting identities

Living up to expectations.

Everybody and their dog can make out a theme from something else. That's why you see some white people will see a triangle painting and say it speaks to them.

The simple truth is that Marvel movies don't have profound messages. They are just films to seat back and enjoy.

If black panther had a message , it would be obvious to pretty much everybody and you wouldn't have had to search the internet for the write up you told me to read.

I asked you what special message black panther has and you posted themes.

Heck even Amina the sugar girl has themes.

Black panther was simply a movie to sit back and enjoy just like most mcu movies.

No deep message

Before the Black Panther argument, you said this:
I'm not talking about end game and Spiderman winning sef , I'm talking about it getting a nomination for best picture
This
Spiderman far from home in my opinion was a better film than most of the films nominated for best picture
And This most especially
Then if it's about winning , end game deserves to win best picture. More than any film in that best pic category
but now, you're saying this
My bro , Endgame doesn't deserve best picture.
It's storyline is plain.
My point was that Oscars could be quite bias
.
Haba! no offense sire, do you have a split personality?
One minute you're strongly rooting for this, the next minute you're saying a complete opposite of what you said earlier.
Black Panther.....i wasn't really into the hype, that's why i dropped the link, make I no go defend wetin i no Sabi. But personally, if it were left to me, I'd gladly choose Black panther over Far from home(that was the argument), because it dealt with issues that has to do with being of African descent, The African cultural footprints. Again, It was a movie about what it meant to be black in both America and Africa and more broadly, in the world.
The themes of the movie, challenged institutional bias, its characters took unsubtle digs at oppressors, and its narrative included prismatic perspectives on black life and tradition.
Wakanda on the other hand, was a vision, a vision of black grandeur and power in a trying time, when most Africans and African Americans were at or below the poverty line and comprised nearly a third of the nation’s poor.

Nah, Toy Story 4 was a well deserved win.
I still believe Klaus was better though. Toy story 4 follows the same formula as other Toy story. Yeah, it was told in an interesting way. However, Klaus brought a refreshing and heart-warming story about Santa Claus.

Yeah it's quite true on the interestingly told story vs the refreshing and heart-warming story , but you see, based on nostalgia + good story telling, Toy Story would always win.

I also actually preferred Klaus but Toy Story 4 was pretty solid too.

It is what it is.

fyi, eva mendez is not unlucky. she's actually more accomplished than all them hollywood bimbos sleeping their way up the hollywood ladder.

she made a conscious decision to quit acting to raise the two daughters that she had with ryan gosling, her domestic partner for the last 10years.

add to the fact that she was once an a-lister before retiring, and her partner being an a-lister, plus her hollywood connection (she's close friends with will smith), she can walk into any hollywood blockbuster whenever she decides to come back to acting.

i don't think she's ever gonna come back to acting tho. it's been a while.
She'll come back in Fast and Furious: 10 Green Bottles grin grin

I wonder, he always has that kind of dedication.
When I watched him in "the joker" it was only the sensation of his acting that made me finished watching the movie, because the movie bored me out of my head.
And I guess it was the same for a lot of people.

He deserve that Oscar.
