You need to leave the confines of your village and see what's obtain in a normal society or ask a lawyer on the laws pertaining to arrests in Nigeria. According to the law, the police cannot hold a person for more than 24hrs without charging the case to the courts. The concept of locking people up for months with you think is normal is not.
