Just tell the VO the truth. They have all data in their system. If you lie they will still catch you and deny you for lying.

Is your sibling in same state you intend migrating to?

it is advisable to try and contact the school first before applying, that way, you would know if their is a slight chance of getting a full funding. Also research schools that may admit you(+ full funding) with your profile.
goodluck!

I wonder too oooo.
I'm not the guy but I'm trying to imagine how it feels. The part that shocked me most is telling the guy to go back to university and re-enroll from 100level. Like seriously, that's the height of it all. I'm just happy the dude picked up himself and push through, now they are in the same America and even doing exploits. Negative and toxic people.

RealTrump:

1. Stop putting blame on Trump adminstration. US Visas has always been laced with uncertainty. Canada n Australia hv always had a much clearer path for stay after schooling. So telling people that Canada is better than US... that's old news. U just came in last year, why didn't u go to Canada instead of US?

2. You paid a lot of money to school there. You hv a huge burden to succeed. And it is natural that any news that relates to bad immigration creates a huge burden for u. But I think u are beginning to pass your personal burden on other members of the group. To your credit, u had expressly said that people who are forking out a chunk of money should look elsewhere. Thumbs up.

3. Don't let these guys push u around. They don't have the man power to run that country and can NEVER shut the door on immigrants.

I know that as Nigerians we have personally ridiculed ourselves alot more than d whites ridiculed us.

Yes, maybe Nigeria is a shit hole. But Nigeria is that shit hole that can determine whether u will wake up n still be the world power tomorrow.

Nigerians should stop all these inferiority complex and start embracing the substantial amount of power we wield in the world politics. Americans hv d data, they know we too useful to them but in their immediate economy n on their grip on world power. Most of their African venture capital dollars is tied up in Nigeria, u really think they are stupid enough to close d doors?

The same country that banned u yesterday, basically appeased u with a check of $40M a week later n called it "humanitarian aid." That should tell u how important u are.

US has never been a place for non stem students. Aside this, relax, they can push us around but they can't push u too far...they hv a lot to lose too. UK tried but they came back begging with their tail between their legs. Also don't forget it's an election year, a lot of things will be political. Media houses probably don't like d guy n they will paint up stories. If u see d free money in assistantship, grab it!

Personally I have no qualms with Canada, I even applied to 3 schools there...but I don't just think I can tolerate any more cold.

It's a bumpy ride ahead, but hang on, nothing lasts forever.

Really who are you! I wish I could like this post more than once, most objective post I have read here in a while. Thumbs up.

What’s a spade? that Nigerians are criminals and are looking to leach off the United States? Speak for yourself and perhaps the people you know because I don’t know where you’re from.

Read how he mentions Elon Musk as if he got the EB1 green card but the loser, with all his self-proclaimed first class and intelligent genes still married an obese homeless American then come back around here to petulantly vent his frustrations talking down on people with dreams that are looking to make a difference.

Now his younger brother is a plastic surgeon in America cheesy that one too ran away and lied to the VO that he was going to return to treat Buhari to help Nigeria save from his frequent London trips cheesy

Seriously, only victims of abuse would need some pathetic narcissist like Twoods to inspire them before they get their life together; and they need therapy.

Shoot emails to Profs Bro. Funding always depends on available/expected funds and most of these funds come from research grants which Profs also struggle to get!

Teaching assistantships are more available in programs with high undergraduate enrollment. So if EE undergrads are quite many, which is very likely at Texas Tech, there would be need to have TAs for courses with labs. The department then plans for the number of TAs to hire per semester, and their stipends (typically 16-17bucks/hr).

I've seen Profs that had to support their research (MS/PhD) students solely with TA positions because they didn't have grants at that time. Personally, RA positions are best because one begins hands-on research immediately which helps to speed up graduation and presenting conference papers, journals etc. With TA roles though, if you're very friendly and knowledgeable, you'll make lots of friends (very vital here).

Help me out my people.

I recently graduated with a second class upper 4.02/5.0 in Agricultural economics and extension majoring in extension education.

I read in some portion of the thread that none STEM student looking for masters in the USA do have issues with funding and getting jobs after they finish. Please gurus in the house how true is this.

Asides that please recommend good schools that offer funding for Agric education and educational psychology masters.

Thanks.

Good day Nairalanders. I've been following this thread as a ghost member in this forum for a while now, and I must commend the oldies that have kept supporting and encouraging other members. The gratitude we that receive these information, support and encouragement show isn't just what would come your ways. God's blessings would ever be abundant in your lives, Amen.

I'm going for my intereview very soon and I'll appreciate those of you that could help with a constructive criticism on my proposed transcripts.
I know that the choice of embassy location is not a guarantee for visa to be granted. But I'd also want to put everything into consideration and know which is more preferable, whether it's the one in Lagos or Abuja, because I'm lucky to be in a position where none would be tasking to apply to.
This is my proposed transcript.
Me: Good morning Sir/ma. How was your night?
V.O: Good morning. It was great, pass me your passport, i-20 and sevis payment receipt.
(...which I'd pass down).
V.O: Where in the U.S are you going?
Me: I'm going to East Coast Polytechnic Institute in Virginia to pursue a BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering with concentration in Mechatronics Engineering.
V.O: Why this course?
Me: I just finished a BSc degree in Architecture which I started right after my high school. I'm passionate about a career path in mechanized and computerized architecture. You'd agree with me that there are not many mechanized and computerized architectural buildings and structures in Nigeria. So the knowledge I'd obtain in Mechatronics Engineering would help me stand out when I come back right after my study to practice in Nigeria.
(I know some of you would be of the opinion that me mentioning a second BSc is a red flag. But it answers the question of what I've been doing since my high school. And I also feel it helps me elaborate my goals and makes my coming back to Nigeria believable).
V.O: You have any supporting document of your claims of a previous BSc?
Me: Yes Of course (reaching out to get my Attestation document from my Faculty dean) My University is still processing my transcripts and statement of result, simply because I just graduated, but I made sure to bring an attestation from my school.
V.O: How many schools did you apply to?
Me: I applied to 3 schools
V.O: Name them
Me: ECPI University in the U.S, then Berlin Institute of technology and Freiburg University all located in Germany.
V.O: How many admitted you?
Me: The first I heard from was ECPI, I'm yet to hear from Freiburg University, and I haven't finalized my application with Berlin Institute of technology. So practically it's only ECPI University that admitted me.
V.O: How did you hear about ECPI?
Me: I had a discussion with my uncle about diversifying in my field and gaining advanced knowledge outside Nigeria mainly because of the fact that my course of choice is only available in very few schools in Nigeria. He highly recommended ECPI. Although I had already made a few choices from bachelorsportal.com I still made my research on ECPI and reached out to them, and I must say, their immediate responses were impressive.
V.O: Why did you choose ECPI?
Me: I was fascinated about the course description, available facilities and the University's approach towards mechatronics engineering. Although at some point I considered Greenville Tech because their objectives are almost similar to those of ECPI and it would save me cost of living because my uncle stays in South Carolina. But this is more than just a family reunion. ECPI is more fitting to what I want. The accelerated program of 2.5years, coupled with the University's high ranking in both The U.S Annual high ranked Engineering and IT programmes. And the nation's Top 40 safest campuses.
V.O: Your i-20 says you have a $4k Merit Scholarship. How did you earn it?
Me: I have a high school transcript CGPA of 3.42/4.0. ECPI awards a merit scholarship to a CGPA of 3.25 and above.
V.O: Who's paying the deficit?
Me: My Dad
V.O: What does he do?
Me: He's a surgeon. He specialized in family medicine and owns his own hospital. Prior to his retirement in October 2016, he was the Chief Executive Officer of Imo State Hospitals Management Board.
V.O: Can I see the bank statement?
Me: Yes of course(...I'd pass it over to him/her)
V.O: Have you ever travelled out of Nigeria?
Me: I've never had the need to, up until now.
V.O: Are you married?
Me: No
V.O: Do you have a child?
Me: No

Firstly, make use of search engines, it will help you Alot, even as far as your Visa Interview. Then, most Agric Education I have come across don't require GRE, but for funding purpose, virtually every school needs GRE. Agric Education isn't a STEM course, but u can consider checking Applied Economics at Oregon State Uni (which is stem) and then Agric Economics, Animal Science or Community Development course, they give funding.

U can start by using this link https://www.collegetuitioncompare.com/search/?state=AR&degree=M&type=PUB&online=OFF&page=1
To search for schools of your interest.

Once again, going thru the process yourself is advised.

You people should relax o. They deal with millions of backlogs already, you think USCIS/DHS will agree to this? A lot of these regulations get thrown out of the window, either by the agency or by the court. Calm down, apply for visa if you think you're qualified. Ah, one step at a time abeg.
