Yankee101: There's no one in NY, that would commute 2 hours to work and 2 hours back home for $2 to $3 per hour. GET REAL BRODA! I have been a manager for years now and I also own my own ecommerce business. Let's stop this misinformation! |

Yankee101: That is what I'm saying, you are comparing workers in Nigeria making an average of $2 to $3 per hour to workers in New York making minimum wage of $7.25 or more. You can't compare work ethics because the scenario is different. This is why I asked you to imagine workers in the USA working for peanuts and going through the stress of getting to work and leaving for home. Imagine the toll it would take on their mental and physical well-being. Yoyu can't give your 100% to a company when you're on the edge of depression, can you? |

abbey621: We're talking about work ethic in naija and yankee. There's no comparison. Only the very very poor/artisans/daily pay folks work to the bone in naija. Just so they can survive. The average high school graduate and upwards is not willing to work hard. Why do you think yahoo yahoo is aplenty? Always looking for the easy way out |

Yankee101: Laughable.....Why do you think selling drugs/weeds is so numerous in yankee? You have no point jaare, you make blanket statements without supporting facts, abeg go and sleep! |

Yankee101: You have some kind of a point but the attitude you're describing is more visible in civil and public service rather than private institutions in which the owner has his eye on the ball. You are exaggerating just a tad; the work culture of an organisation somewhat dictates the behaviour of workers inside said institution. Though I agree with you that in the main, our attitude needs some adjustment |

abbey621: And na we no dey sell drugs and weed abi? Nigeria is one one the largest conduit for drugs from south america for onward distribution. Tinubu, IBB (Dele Giwa saga), Kashamu (orange is the new black saga) etc have all been implicated in pushing |

midnighter: Ask anyone here how government offices operate with efficiency. You can register a business from your bedroom, pay taxes on your couch, drop ship anything, be attended to promptly in the post office, get your licence same day at the DMV, etc etc etc So productivity of a nation cannot exclude certain players in the nation. You're only as strong as your weakest link |

[quote author=DexterousOne post=86566005] And whose fault is it that Nigeria does not have a "national vision "? Countries more diverse than Nigeria have stronger state of the union. And a more nationalistic view to nationhood So why is Nigeria case different? Is it wicked leaders or citizens who don't know better? [/quote |

Re: 8 Ways We Can Reduce Poverty In Nigeria. Do You Agree? by midnighter(f): 8:48pm On Feb 11, 2020 |
Yankee101: Yes, but your comments seem to place the blame squarely at the feet of workers, when it's demonstrably obvious that that's just one side of the story. Otherwise banks, private schools and even small private restaurants would be operating in the same stupid manner as government institutions, which is clearly not the case. Management and top-down infrastructure implementation are poor in public services in Nigeria. Workers need to be incentivised and given decent working conditions and objectives |

midnighter: NNPC is public service. And I will relocate to nigeria for a job at my level if offered. You still think inefficiency in naija has to do with money? Most ministry cashiers are richer than doctors and lawyers in naija. It still doesn't produce efficiencies. What else do you want to hear? |

1. Eliminate corrupt stooges of foreign governments planted in high positions to maintain chaos while others loot Nigeria. 2. Also: It would be a profound mistake to believe the number of stupid people in a declining society is greater than in a developing society. Both such societies are plagued by the same percentage of stupid people. The difference between the two societies is that in the society which performs poorly: |
