Governors Willie and Dave truely believe have a chance of APC presidential ticket in 2023. Governor Hope is playing along with APC party lines as a first term APC governor having witnessed Ambode's fate in Lagos . None of this trio wants to rock the boat and upset the ruling party. There was no chance of an Igbo Security outfit ever taking off, but since the governors were divided, they invited the IGP to provide a face-saving formula to show some agreement from the summit. I fear this perceived weak response ( in the misguided view of some Igbo youths) will play into hands of lunatics like IPOD and their UK secret intelligence sponsored leader. 1 Like 1 Share |

jneutron4000:please the Igbo populace do not believe and support suppression of any type. You are judging the Igbo from afar. Nnamdi azikiwe is not celebrated in igboland as ojukwu or even small boy kanu.the reason is obvious. I read about the atrocities of zik and tafawa against the western region as they were spurred on by the British. They had help in the person of Samuel ladoke akintola to break the power of the action group, formed a new party for him and sponsored him heavily, gave akintola the control of a Barack in abeokuta as footsoldiers against his political opponents. The height of injustice was when the Federal collabo of zik and tafawa helped akintola to rig election against awolowo with the help of the military, awolowo and action group party faithfuls protested and the Federal government of zik and tafawa bundled him into prison for treason. The Federal tyrants went ahead to cause commotion in the western region and in the ensuing fracas, carved out the Midwest to cut down the western region. But the argument of the Igbo is that opportunity came when zik was no longer a political authority as ojukwu became the leader for chief awolowo to take his people and go and everyone will be free from the caliphate but awolowo decided to stick with the system. Maybe the British threatened him or worse still the British threatened the western region because lots of meetings happened that weren't recorded. The meeting of the British high commission with the emirs of the North to abandon operation araba wasn't recorded. But I think it was mere threat because the British can't organize other Africans to fight the south. I repeat the Igbo populace does not share the ideals of the political class.thats why our political class hold unto Abuja with all their lives. They are on their own 2 Likes |

redroom:am relaxed, SE is not my region and not my problem. This is a public and online opinion, and based on the facts and how the FG normally plays their game, it obvious this security outfits from the east has been high jacked. You can pretends as long as you can but giving true account of events, for example the Federal road safety corps was started by Yorubas in Oyo called National Road Safety Commission (NRSC), they took it though it headed by Yoruba man but we know Fulanis run things, also NSCDC was started by Yorubas before FG took over it. We are at alert about the efforts of FG to turn Amotekun to community policing which we don't want. Amotekun must be independence of FG but work to complement the effort of the NPF and not under one IG from the North or NPF. 1 Like |

engrchykae:You have stated the truth I must say but this is where I want you to understand and perhaps put yourself in Chief Awolowo shoe and see if you would have acted differently. Awolowo being imprisoned for awhile lost his political grip of the west, it was not more than a year he was released that the civil war started, both Ojukwu and Gowon had Military training and they both have foot shoulders at their command, Awolowo on the other hand was just an Economist and a politician, would you expect him to sacrifice Yorubas lives for what he knows he is not ready for because he just got out of prison. Moreover British through Gowon have taken total control of everything including Lagos, Awolowo could only give advice and can not give any command. Some Igbos keep blaming Awolowo for the blockade as if the British and Fulanis do not want it. The British are responsible for the starvation and they also blocked the international media to broadcast the atrocities they were committing during the war. Awolowo was just a great man that the evil ones never allowed him to use his brain power to develop the western region. 3 Likes |

I Smh for people who are calling the Governors cowards but let me make some things clear, we Igbos might not always be on the same page with our leaders but they are right on this security outfit. We are now politicizing this regional security stuff so much at the detriment of its real purpose which is to secure the lives and properties of the region. Every state and region has its own peculiarities and the security outfit should be tailored to those peculiarities. So because SW set up Amotekun to fight herdsmen amidst other issues, the SE should also set up theirs to fight herdsmen forgetting that herdsmen killings are not the main security challenge in the SE. If we can be honest to ourselves, the major security challenge in the east is Armed robbery and kidnapping and these crimes are not perpetuated by Fulani herdsmen because they don't really hold sway in the SE. Farmer/herder clashes occur mostly at border villages in Enugu and Ebonyi because they share borders with kogi and Benue states which makes it easy for the herdsmen to penetrate. This led to the establishment of forest guards, neighborhood watch, vigilantie groups that work and share info with the police and since then how many casualties have the SE recorded from herder/farmer clashes. Why change a winning team just because you want to copy what others are doing. I am very optimistic the governors considered all these before adopting the NPF community police model because what we need most in the SE is intelligence gathering to help strategize and locate the hideouts of these armed robbers and kidnappers and these criminals are in the urban areas not in remote villages like herdsmen. Since the community police officers will be comprised of indegenes who know their terrains, the issue of sabotage by the non-indigenous elements of the NPF will be highly subdued. I still believe if and when the SS region decides to set up their regional security outfit, there is every possibility that they will follow this SE model because of the almost similar terrain and security situation on ground presently. Please let us be properly guided. The primary purpose is Security and not politics. 2 Likes |

hopexter:You are very stupid for this useless comment! When did you start loving Igbos and caring about their well being? Are you into any pact with any Igbo group to form any security network? Your Amotoekun took of on the wrong footing and you are here blaming others for avoiding the mistakes you made. You needed a Yoruba militia because it dawned on you that Tinubu and osunbande won't be getting the presidency on a platter against your hope in 2015. Swine! |

Re: Security: South East Governors Endorse NPF Community Policing Model by Rumxy(m): 1:03am On Feb 13, 2020 |
ChoCho54: I don't think it was a political tool per say but a genuine effort by the SW leaders to secure their people having given up on the nation's security apparatus. In my opinion, I feel it was rushed and not properly planned which was why it received the backlash that it did that made it look like a political tool though they are trying to rectify their mistakes. The yorubas will never agitate for sovereignty because the current structure favours them. From another angle, it might be their own way of scaring the north to submit to their presidential ambition who knows, which also makes it a somewhat political tool. Politics is a dirty game and who plays smart wins. |

Rumxy:Amotoekun was nothing but a political tool. Not to scare anyone because nobody was really scared, but just to ruffle feathers and make their voices heard and draw out emotional reactions from the north to hold against them. Trust abuoki, it was a cacophony of response! Do you think the proponents of Amotoekun didn't know what to do before hitting town with branded cars etc when there's no legal backing? But legal backing or not, Amotoekun cannot operate as constituted. We await the final document. They decided to put the cart before the horse to stir murky waters, just to register their displeasure over the shabby treatment meted to their owns in this government Kpomkwem! |
