Notice how they're sneakily trying to point you (Biafra) in the direction of the useless National Assembly that they control and which is full of greedy, self-serving, anywhere-belle-face politicians (of all ethnicities) who are primed to torpedo any talk of referendum or secession just to protect and preserve their hustle! smiley

You are disillusioned!

Igbos in Lagos, Igbos in Abuja, Igbos in Kano...they are resolved to thwart any move to declare Biafra. They love their wealth in Nigeria more than they love sovereingty in homeland.

First resolve that obstacle before thinking of Yoruba and Fulani.

Only in a diplomatic way by turning Ipob to regional political party. Trust me by 2 cycle elections, they must have been controlling both Senate and reps seats in SE

Forming an alliance with any region that ready to work with them. Then they can present their grievances at both upper and lower chambers

Seceeding take decades not just years cos if not, Catalonian supposed to be independent country today upon how ecomony viable they are

forget the idea....its too late now....

Some people say that IPOB should turn it self into a political party, win elective positions in the upper and lower house, then sponsor a bill for referendum. This would have been an ideal thing to in a sane society

Unfortunately, Nigeria is not an ideal place and is far from being sane.

Even if IPOB became a political party, managed to win every elective position in the SE/SS, moved a bill for referendum at the national assembly, the other 4 zones will vote down the bill and all that effort would be for nothing.

The only way IPOB can get a referendum is to keep up their agitation until the National assembly moves a motion to grant referendum. IPOB's agitation was was starting to bear fruit around the time they were proscribed, even Arewa youths had started to urge the FG to help them get referendum

It wont be easy but I know that two things will happen in the next 5 years. Nigeria will collapse and Biafra will be free or a referendum will be granted. Either way, Biafra inevitable and it will require no war

Tell them.

It doesnt work like that, if a person has to understand why you should be free, this is a person who will never agree that you should be free.

Freedom is already your right, what should be discussed is the terms of separation

I want you to understand that talking about separation or refrerandum will start from the house of representatives.
And we have numbers of Southern representatives in the house but the are not talking about it.
What is the probability that if Ipob becomes a political party and have a representatives in the house, that they will agitate?
That is why I said the need to carry others along by making alliance and not destroying the bridge, most of the region share the same ideology but not with war or quarrel

Bro, if they go through the right means, they will definitely achieve Biafra cos I don't really think any region is really benefitting from this contraption called Nigeria.. But it all requires time and Patience that's only if no improvement
What happened to u?
I'm really curious?

I will love to know, please.

I know that all of u supporting Buhari here are not happy with what is happening in Nigeria but supporting because of affiliation.

Affiliation both tribal and religious has never made Nigeria better rather has divided this country like no other in this world.
When u step out of nigeria a bit, u will hate all Nigerian politicians. All of them are the same. They use u and I to achieve what they want, give us stipends, blackmail us or kill us without baiting an eyelid just to get what they want.
If and only if we can at least challenge them even on social media instead of sounding their cymbals, they will know they are nothing without you and I.

And who will initiate the referendum bill?
That has always been my question, What is holding the southern representatives in the house to initiate It, what are they afraid of?

Exactly but would IPOB listen to good counsel? They want it their way which is asking for a war

When a country is built on a weak foundation collapse is inevitable, something that even a child can see.

Those that have refused for this country to divide are parasites who's fathers have been obtaining this country from day one.

Nnamdi Kanu shows us the way. IPOB will form an army and eventually there will be war.

U missing a very vital point...
If eventually IPOB persistent agitation forces NASS to pass the referendum bill n the president signs it....
The political party controlling the SE n SS will determine the outcome of the referendum....

If the party is anti IPOB, they can easily say they never demand for a referendum on behalf of their constituency....
They can collude with federal govt to frustrate the whole process....
Alternatively, they can allow the referendum but influence the outcome in their favour....

That's why the call for pro IPOB party to control the elective seats in SE is valid....

Except for war , the only other means is through diplomatic way which is politics.. Scottish have reseasonable representatives under their regional party at both lower and upper house chamber in UK yet Britain never considered their referendum request.

You do not solve a problem by creating new ones. Funniest part about this Biafra issues, the people who are more concerned don't even have time to come with new approach while the suggestions made by outsiders are not only dumbed and ignored but also attacked.

If I am actually wishing success for my self, then it's a must to wish others the best

The Scots actually did get a law allowing them to hold a referendum in 2010...which led to the 2014 referendum which they lost.

However, in the wake of Brexit, there are calls for another referendum...which the central UK government is saying no to.(Scotland voted remain )

For IPOB to get a peaceful referendum..

1.Amend the constitution to allow for a referendum...which can only be done by taking part in the political process.(and no, don't tell me the Hausas would block referendum..as if the Hausas are the majority in the NA ).

2.Campaign for referendum yes vote.

3.Define the parameters for the referendum...ie who conducts the vote eg UN, INEC?

The only other way is war.

1,Unfortunately, IPOB cannot be a political party as the Constitution does not allow secessionist parties

2.Who told you that other regions would vote down a bill for referendum? Don't make assumptions.

3.Again, the NA cannot grant a referendum unless the constitution is amended to allow for the NA to consider a referendum. Amending the constitution requires 2/3 vote in all state assemblies plus 2/3 vote at the National Assembly and Senate.

1.Because the only legal route through getting a peaceful referendum lies via the National Assembly.

2.The main blocking road to Biafra is that in order to get a poltical solution, you have to give something for nothing. Many politicans in the far North don't support Biafra because there is no benefit for them. Many SS don't support Biafra because the Biafranists have said nothing about resource control . The Middle Belt is more interested in restructuring than anything else...

3.Having said that, don't make assumptions. Politics is hard work, not grandstanding . Lobby, lobby, make concessions, be prepared to wait for decades, if you want peaceful secession. The Scottish referendum was a work of over 80 years.

You can only get Biafra through war..

You can't get 2/3 votes in all state assemblies and National Assembly
That's just the fact

Our constitution is a rigid one, no easy to amend and include secession to it

And that is why it is pointless for IPOB to be involved in Nigerian politics. All they should do is continue with their agitation until such a time Nigeria, as a collective, decides to grant them referendum

To all of you thinking that ipob can't be a political force,. Here's how it would work. Let ipob help elect good people into the government from State to federal level. When every other tribe sees the good things that's happening to the SE, they would be naturally drawn to it. There are about three hundred tribes in Nigeria and everyone wants something good for themselves. If we can position ourselves and get it going, they will likely join us and soon we will have enough power to push for referendum

Let’s cut the nonsense out. These people giving all these unsolicited advise are masking their inner pain and hatred for IPOB and what it stands for with fake advice.

They know that the ideas they are suggesting won’t ever work in Nigeria. They just want to sound diplomatic and appear good.

If you give these people advising you on IPOB unlimited power, they will permanently crush IPOB.

The truth is that no matter how much Nigerians pretend, the idea of Igbos leaving Nigeria makes them very scared and insecure. Forget all the online nonsense.

IPOB will have to prepare for a war. It is sad but it’s the only realistic option in a country like Nigeria.

You just postulated that

1) It will not be possible for IPOB to successfully push for a referendum bill if they win legislative seated in the SE/SS.

2) However you also postulated that it will be possible for IPOB to mount pressure on the NASS to pass a referendum bill without being part of the NASS.

How contradictory!

Even as members representing SE/SS, you can't do it. Is it when you are total outsiders that the NASS will listen to you and bow to your pressure?
