Just imagine, I made a sincere contribution on this topic but as usual, you guys will always attack. You can not help yourself, still yet attacking those who are willingly helping..

Thank goodness you understand at least little Yoruba. Read between the lines of what Sammy first wrote when he quoted me.. He was actually right

You don see what I was saying.
I swear, if we decided to do what metaphysical suggest, the table will turn against us.
Just look at hateful Comments in this thread

Are you trying to say Igbos will have to overlook everything for them to seem nice and non emotional to you?

No, Let's use this thread as an example.

Metaphysical was just suggesting and advising everyone to work together.
But look at bashings/hateful/negative/boastful comments in the thread.

Is that how things should be done?

They say charity begins at home. So metaphysical should advise his people to work together first before advising others.

It is only a mad man that his house will be on fire and he will helping others to quench. In the days of warriors if they kill the great Iroko in an internal crisis, in the days of external....what will the people do?

I think he should start from within.

A common past time in Nairaland is to abuse Igbos, taunt Igbos, barrage Igbos and above all insult Igbos.
Good enough there are Igbos on Nairaland who are equal to it either in response or in retort.
In the larger Nigeria, it is quite fashonable these days to make uncomplimetry comments against the Igbo and to talk negatively against them. Many rain direct and or indirect diatribe against the Igbo as they feel that the Igbo are helpless and hapless at this moment. Many times I hear people say that Igbo man cannot be this or that all with impunity.
Sometimes I wonder if these commentators think that Igbos are of a different country. If we are of the same country one would think that people are mindful of equity, fairness and justice. Igbos are a people of not less than 50 million inpopulation. If we continue to push them, we might push them into ,crime, social unrest , exodus or outright reaction. None of these will augur well for Nigeria.

Here on this Nairaland, I've read many comments saying that SW are the one against southern unity.
SW are the one aligning with the North.

OP, decided to create the thread that we should work with you and stop taunting or hating you.

Is anything bad In that

He’s from the southwest. The Yoruba youths are doing better than any zone you come from. Check Forbes 30 under 30 and you’ll see the Yorubas dominate the list.

Now go back to all metrics to judge the prosperity of youths in Nigeria and the Yorubas still win hands down!

if you yorubas have sense, you should actually be grateful to the igbos instead of mocking and taunting because without 1966( that changed the politico-economic dynamics of Nigeria),you yorubas would have been the almajiri of Nigeria.

I said it, you are as clueless as your forgotten ancestors.

The Fulanis never held any power grip pre-1960, your greedy ancestors gave them power on a platter of gold for the envy they had for the Yorubas.

You have been subjugated by the Fulanis and you’ve been suffering from the Karma of what your waduwadu ancestors created.

Without 1966, Nigeria would have been a more peaceful, prosperous, and a developed country!

yes,we handed power to the Fulanis on a platter of gold, agreed but without it you yorubas wouldn't have been getting the crumbs that are falling from the fulani table.
its this crumbs you people started getting after awolowo was invited by Gowon to join his government that is making you people feel that you are better than the igbos.i hope you get the message this time around.

Again go and learn history. What you’re saying is not what happened.

Awolowo was in the opposition till he was jailed by the Balewa government which Azikwe was part of. Azikwe never interceded for him but instead looked the other way because he thought he would control the Fulanis alone.

Your men killed our premier and senior officers and Awolowo/Yorubas at that time see no reason in secession.

Yorubas have never settled for crumbs from the Fulanis, we have always been either in the opposition fighting them even after the 1966 war. From 1970-1999, the Yorubas were in the opposition and the Igbos were the one eating crumbs from the fulanis election after elections.

Apart from the fact that they spilled the first blood and introduced Nigeria to endless coups, we were doing fine under regional administration, but their forefathers decided to abolish that and join everybody together with power concentrated in the center aka one Nigeria like what we have today, now they don't want one Nigeria, they are blaming other people when in fact their forefathers created the problem in the first place.

They are victims of their own greed, violent and destructive ways.

Tbh, initially the Hausa/Fulanis are not power hungry, they are conserved and they just wanted to live with their own ideologies.

It even got to a point where the North wanted to secede from Nigeria and Azikwe had to write a lengthy statement synonymous to a riot act to them not to secede.

They(Igbos) also stopped the Ijaws from seceding by arresting Adaka-Boro only for them to turn back to kill other tribe leaders to seize power which eventually resulted to their secession and the civil war.

The North was given power because of the unitary system enforced by the Igbos. In a central government, the region with the most population decides who rules. Hence, the North have been deciding who rules this nation ever since then.

MetaPhysical:
The soul of Biafra and the Igboman has been badly and severly battered and deeply traumatized.

What Igbo need is healing, support and acknowledgement. It does not rob us of any value to join hands and do this.

Let us stop the tears...we must heal the spirit! We must listen, and reset 1966!

The 60s were volatile years across the globe. Many nations in Africa were just starting a new experience in the European styled nationhood and had not perfected the peculiarities and intrigues of power and power-sharing amongst new co-owners and thus exhibited their barbarism. Nigeria was in this class.

In some other, Europeans were the barbarics, terrorizing and abusing power to continue monopoly and savagery. South Africa had the Apartheid. A system that segregate whites from non-whites.

Apartheid (Apart-heid) is Dutch word for "separate hood".

In our own Nigeria the treatment of Igbo since the calamity of 1966, followed shortly after by war of 67, has been one of Unity in Separation.

We must forgive and help Igbo heal. It has become accepted to turn loose the police and army on them and watch them harrassed, persecuted and brutalized. It is not only the Igbo that has not healed, the rest of the nation has not healed either and we have not forgiven....so that at every opportunity of a conflict we flash back to the ethnic assassinations of 1966 and then justify a need to exact pound of reprisal attack on Igbo. We are still in pain.

Let's reset 1966!

Here is Mama Africa, Miriam Makeba, with a song from 1966.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fqdcz0eYLSQ

yeah....but they need some brotherly bashins to wake them up....
they must know with ipob is completly wrong....

You mean ibo people staged coups and slaughtered people from other parts of Nigeria and set Nigeria on the wrong path because they were trying to help Yoruba people and make sure that Yoruba people have access to crumbs from Fulani table?

What crumbs was Zik and ibo people looking for when they teamed up with the North rule after independence against objection from the SW not create one Nigeria with the North just for a meaningless and figurehead President position? Were you also helping Yoruba people to get crumbs from Fulani table when you did that?

Even after the 66 coup, they installed ibo head of state and instead of punishing the coup plotters, the ibo head of state played tribalism and refused to even slap the sadistic and blood thirsty coup plotters on the wrist.

Your forefathers created the Nigeria that you hate so much today, you reap what you so stop playing blaming other people for your greed and misadventures.

Zik and ibo people either were too dumb and clueless or just didn't know basic arithmetic and the meaning of majority, I honestly think they knew but didn't care as long as they sit next to the North against the SW and did not see the monster and troubled future they just created.

Sadly, they still have the same destructive mentality because they are hard learners, they won't learn from their own history.
