Such a sad fellow.

Are we Italians, if Nolly means Nothing in Italy, it means nothing in Italian, and that is not English language.

He didnt tell us what Holly in Hollywood means in Italian too.

This village header master needs his barber.

Is Bollywood a place in India? Not all movies are made in Hollywood but American movies are generally regarded as Hollywood movies.
The name is not the problem but the amateurish plots and the lack of originality in many of the productions.

Daddy yo if no be for this one wey you talk I don forget say person like you exist. So, enjoy the few hours of Fame and relevance you'll receive for practically saying nothing worth reading, about a $50 billion industry.

See who is talking. You can only hide behind your screen to write this trash. That man’s name will always come up whenever people discuss/study the early days of soap opera in Nigeria. As for you, even your family may forget your name after the first generation.

He is right. Nollywood is a meaningless term unlike Hollywood which exists as a physical community with studios, parks and design schools. He is right to express his disaffection because he is a member of that society.

You? You’re just a faceless troll.

Man is right... Hollywood is an area of LA... just like Lekki is an area of Lagos....been there before the film/entertainment industry arrived there and brought it fame. Going to Hollywood... there is a destination... and to the hub of the movie industry. Nollywood.... where is that?... or where is the center of Nigeria movie industry?... where are the studios? Want just a name... name a location or coin one... just like Seun did when he launched this now world famous Nairaland.

Nollywood is a $50 billion industry.
I can assure you, the name don't matter.
Exactly. A name is just an identification. To differentiate one thing from another!

What exactly do you mean by Nollywood is a $3B industry? Do you really believe that even if you take all the Nollywood movies ever made... their production costs.... and revenues... that it would amount to $3B? Who even tracks... or can track the number of Nollywood movies?...let alone the revenue? We need to stop repeating such nonsense.

I don’t think there’s a record where the movie industry was formally named ‘Nollywood’, names can come out of nothing, sometimes unconventionally, and then it becomes popular and preferably used. Same with ‘Afrobeats’.

The name isn't the reason why the Nigerian movie industry isn't taken seriously (though it's a phony name) but the real problem lies with the the same old, crappy voodoo storylines and poor grahyics.Indians seem to be doing fine with Bollywood.

You need to check yourself
Feel your forehead with the back of your palm your temprature must be rising, your skin is hot.....right? And you have a rapid heart rate, plus the headache, aching muscles and joints.
You are not well something is definitely wrong with you, maybe it's fever or maybe it's your body overworked by the stress of managing a minimally functional brain whatever the case see a doctor and stop ranting.

Yep.....When people like Dejumo Lewis talk, you listen.

This is Kabiyesi talking, afterall.

But I think the Nollywood name is pretty much here to stay, as people seem to be ok with it in general.

Hollywood is the name of a town in California! Which town in Nigeria is called Nollywood or Kanywood? You guys copy things abroad without knowing what they even stand for.
