WHO places Nigeria at high-risk over Coronavirus World Health Organisation (WHO) has placed Nigeria at a very high-risk in global economic damage over the Coronavirus in China. According to WHO report, “Case count of COVID-19 has surpassed that of SARS, which resulted in global economic damage estimated between $30 to $100 billion. “WHO has places Nigeria at a very high-risk. COVID-19 has continues to spread globally with a high risk of spreading into Nigeria” The Organisation called for the establishment of National Reference Lab in each of the six geo-political zones as against the three the country currently has. The Organisation has also debunked a rumor that has being shared on social media that the COVID-19 could be spread through broiler chickens. WHO places Nigeria at high-risk over Coronavirus Some health advise; “Avoid close contact with anyone showing symptoms of respiratory illness such as coughing and sneezing, avoid self-medication, report to the nearest health facility when you experience any of the above-mentioned symptoms. “Healthcare workers are always advised to observe standard infection prevention and control measures when attending to patients and take a travel history. “As the situation is evolving, this advisory will be updated as more information becomes available,” he said. Truth is Nigeria is at risk due to the fact that we have a reactive government instead of a proactive one, take the lassa fever menace for instance, how many states now?.Until we learn to vote leaders with sound intellectual, economic and ethical minds, we will always be at risk of any economic and health matter that arises even far from our boarders...Thank you to all health care providers you deserve better than what our government are offering you guys |

Bluntguy:Sir China with all the technical, human resource, that produces majority of the medical supplies we use are still facing an uphill battle, is it Nigeria that can't even produce enough face mask to cater for Lagos alone you think can handle this? |

RIHMEEK:Nigeria has medical personnel that can match the best in the world anytime, any day. No matter what anyone might want to say, Nigeria is not a high risk covid-19 nation. The same WHO, EU, the US and many others gave Nigeria the best commendation on how we tackled the ebola virus when it broke out. We will tackle this one too if it comes. Don't be surprised that what ravages China might be halted by the Nigeria you so despise. 1 Like |

Bluntguy:No doubt in terms of having the brains yes our doctor's can match any doctor from any part of the world, but if you don't have the facilities to go with the brains then it becomes difficult.. Currently our health care providers are overworked, the number WHO Doctors to patients ratio is 1 doctor to 1000 patients but currently Nigeria ratio is 1doc-5000patients, most of the medical supplies we use in Nigeria are imported from China and India currently those 2 have halted the export the Personal protecting equipment due to the virus, China was able to build a 1000 bed capacity hospital in matter of weeks can we do that?, China is currently disinfecting all means of public transportation every 4hrs can we afford to?, the are even disinfecting the money in circulation now.. The only thing that can work in our favour is the immunity level of Nigerians. If u are a doctor and u don't have PPE will u see a patient? 1 Like |

RIHMEEK:You seem to ignore the fact that just as corona is a virus so is ebola. There is no covid-19 in Nigeria yet but the federal government has taken measures to prevent it passing through our shores. I am not a great fan of this government in some areas, but give it to them on this one. More than 300 Americans were infected by the virus and they have all been quarantined yet no Nigerian has been reported to have been infected with it. You sound so expectant of this virus and will be surprised to hear that till the day it will be reported contained will not be seen in Nigeria. By the way which equipment have the Nigerian doctors been using since you said we don't have the equipment to contain a virus and at the same time saying we have been importing equipment from China? Truth be told, I trust my nation on this one. |
