I think the global financial system is a scam tilted in favour of western Nation ...the africa keep getting poorer and miserable why the American buy up africans resources at weaken currency ..if the American want to buy up a house in lekki wort 100m now he will wait with 100k dollars when naira hits 1000 he buys without any futher effort. but the lekki man that want to send his son to us to school @30000 dollars per session need 30m naira in 12 years to do that 12 Likes |

RealityShot: no dividend after mark down and the qualification date would be announced for dividend payment so after marking down for dividend payment nothing of such again but those bought before the qualification date and did not sell bfore mark down will qualify for dividend payment |

ahiboilandgas: That is a known fact. A way out is for a strong monetary union in Africa and reduced dependence on the dollar/other major currencies Lets look inward and develop what we have. We should reduce commodity export and increase the export of finished products It will take time , but it is doable 3 Likes |

Since 1990, the Naira has depreciated against the Dollar by an average of 13.5% per annum. The Naira traded against the Dollar for N7.90 in 1990. Thirty years after (2020), it’s traded for N360 per Dollar. Run the calculations and compound the difference. It’s obvious that foreign currency investments trump whatever investments/profit one is making in Nigeria, in the long term. Nigeria’s economy has no base, clarity, consistency and strategy. Not to create any panic, it’s better to diversify one’s portfolio to foreign currency. tunene66: 5 Likes |

pluto09: Agreed. Barring a large shock in oil prices, I don't think CBN will willingly devalue the naira. It seems this government is obsessed with defending the naira at great expense of our foreign reserves. 1 Like |

Unfortunately I have an issue with all these you guys are saying, as at 2016/2017 we had oil prices at $25-35 a barrel, naira was devalued in the name of floating foreign exchange... In my opinion CBN is not being sincere in having different exchange rates for the naira... I believe if both interbank/blackmarket have a single exchange rate (apparently nothing to defend by CBN), our reserves would not suffer as BDCs and importers would have no reason to look to government for forex, afterall you wont get any special value or rebate per dollar...well the down side is BDC business may end up crumbling... |

RealityShot: i laff in spanish!i should buy a stock at let say N19 and a dividend of let say N2 then after marking down the price goes to N16 does that make investment sense? If i cant buy lower into any stock before dividend payment i will never buy into such stock cos after mark down it will go down so what is the usefuness of the dividend, u gets N2 dividend and the stock went down by N4 doe that increase your wealth? but if i can buy lower like N14 and the price rose to N22 i can still wait for dividend then bail out after marking down. Pls note i cant buy stock and go to sleep, i monitor my investment and ensure my wealth increase every yr. 2 Likes |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by emmanuelewumi(m): 7:12am On Feb 19, 2020 |
aremso: What if it does not go down to N14 nor appreciate to N22? The most important thing is to know how to value an investment based on the expected cash flow from such investments, ones you have gotten the expected valuation from such investments the cheaper it becomes will be an answer to your prayers and accumulate more. Master your emotions. When the market euphoria send such investments beyond their valuations and the cash flow from such investments can't support their current prices you sell and identify other opportunities. 2 Likes |
