The ineffectiveness of this govt! So Nigeria has finally turned into a police state like play like play! We will now have soldiers controlling traffic like there’s a state of emergency in place? A serving general pulled a gun on a road marshal and rather than court martial, we decide to bring more of the brutes to the road. How will a junior military officer still stop a general from driving against traffic? Y do we like putting the cart before the horse in this country? We have a Maj. Gen as president, and he can’t even control his army! Even as ineffectual as GEJ was painted to be, these military men respected themselves during his time. True true, the Bible is right when it says "the people groan and suffer when the wicked rule"! Sai baba 2 Likes |

The military are a disgrace to the nation. A very irresponsible lot ,who get high intimidating and flouting the law.The number one tragedy of Nigeria . I had the same problem when I was working with CCECC as the Head of Safety,on the Lagos- Badagry Expressway project. They beat up some of my boys.I defied some of them by denying them passage. They only threatened hell, but didn't assault me. That's why Amnesty International and the US are always calling them out. |

BeeBeeOoh: Military generals don't go about carrying guns. Only ADCs and orderlies do. The Nigerian military officers are not police officers. All the examples you gave are about police officers. So like the poster you quoted said, let them name the general. General without convoy. |

itsme01:Obasanjo laid the foundation for everything wrong in this country today. The days when soldiers were sent to destroy civilian communities by the government, the days when senators were bribed by the president to do his biddings, the days when election results were written in someon's living room, the days when president and vp tried to outloot each other, days when 4 house of assembly members could impeach a governor, days when the president withheld allocations for any state whose governor he didn't like, militants, sharia law, etc. Please never mention OBJ and good governance in one sentence. On your second paragraph, Osibanjo .is the kind of leader we need no doubt, but you can not solely give him the credit for things that went right when he was in charge while still blaming the president for things that went wrong at that period. when something good happens, you guys praise the minister or whoever, but when an APC local government chairman does something wrong, you blame Buhari. Good leadership is not a function of tribe bros. There are excellent leaders in every tribe |

godofuck231: ^^^ Ok. Point taken. The question is whether the fellow was authorized to be in that lane at that point in time. Is it that all law enforcement agents are allowed to use the emergency lane anytime? LASG has had several cases (too many to count) of military personnel using the Bus Rapid Transit lane when they are not allowed to do so. This contempt for traffic rules by soldiers happens across the entire country. If this so called general was authorized to be in that lane nobody would challenge him. It is that simple. Some people do not want the rules to apply to them simply because they think they are better than everyone else. The world doesn't work that way. 1 Like |

Re: FCT Traffic Gridlock: Army General Pulls Gun On FRSC Operative by godofuck231: 7:35pm On Feb 20, 2020 |
VolvoS60:what I can explain here is that the military in Nigeria is everything when ever the police fails the military stands to quarterback, seeing an ordinary car not even a flag vehicle running one way something might: be at stake, this is the FCT not just lagos, most: of these men can't tell you the kind of orders they are given, but: they have to deliver time is always no man's friend especially in the military bad things happen when they turn up late, it's the way they are wired . in Afghanistan the us navy seal team six was wiped out after the admiral took 3 minutes or more to walk to a secured sat landline to speak with the team leader, after then the sat had hovered past the position directly ontop of the mountain, from there forward communication was bad, 3 minutes! |
Re: FCT Traffic Gridlock: Army General Pulls Gun On FRSC Operative by VolvoS60(m): 12:47pm On Feb 21, 2020 |
godofuck231: ^^^ No sir. The military is not everything "whenever the police fails" as you put it. They are government workers. When you strip everything down to basics, they are government workers - just like government nurses, teachers, engineers, doctors etc. The only difference is in the details of their job description. Their job is to neutralize internal or external threats to the security of this country. I will let you be the judge of how well they have delivered on that assignment against the rebels in Nigeria's North-East. I don't buy into the theory that military personnel on the roads are doing us a favour by not telling us the "important" orders they are following - orders which require?! them to break traffic rules the rest of us must follow. This impunity must stop. This belief that soldiers/airmen/seamen are above the law must stop! The military hierarchy in the last administration believed that it wasn't necessary for their procurement methods to undergo the same scrutiny that civilians go through. You are aware of the result - the grand corruption in the purchase of kit and equipment that cost the lives of the rank and file - in their thousands. This is a big part (though not the only part) of why the war against Boko Haram remains unfinished - some senior brasshats believe they are above the law and can get away with anything. If they are so worried about time lost in unnecessary traffic, what stops them from collaborating and exchanging ideas with civilian authorities to solve the traffic problem permanently across Nigeria's urban areas? No - they won't do that because they consider themselves superior to those goddamned bloody civilians. Its far more convenient to drive against traffic or in the emergency lane and then claim to be "staff" when challenged. We need to stop making excuses for lawlessness. 2 Likes |

VolvoS60:giving ideas to civilian government of town planning and strategic civil egonomics isn't the job of the military, plus don't: forget that this is not a developed country where the police is 2 minutes away this is a third world country fully , shiit happens and the system will not protect you, if not the supreme courts wouldn't be giving overnight verdicts on state elections and the road lanes would have been cleared for security agents on essential duty |
