Foreigners arriving your domain means there is a good business atmosphere and potentials are being actualised.
This is a very good thing.

Some of those people are plain ignorant. Some of indices or signs that a state or country is developing is influx of foreign nationals that come with capital and expertise.

A country or state cannot fully actualize its potentials without foreign nationals coming in droves to invest in several areas. America is great today because of multi ethnic, multicultural society in that country.

I am happy that bulk of foreign nationals in SE are domiciled in Anambra, particularly Onitsha. It is a very good development.

Please stop this. This is not anything to be happy about. You're missing the point! I don't think the issue of their morality or views on race is the question here....rather what Ansmedia is trying to say is that Anambra state is relatively peaceful enough and has the business opportunities and environment to be able to attract foreigners to work and live! The state has to start somewhere! It's the Chinese today....tomorrow, the Americans and Europeans!

At the 2nd Sensitization Seminar of Stakeholders by NIWA within South East Zone, themed, “Reforming the Maritime Sector in Onitsha Priority Areas, Potential Projects and the Way Forward, held at C.J. Patterson Hall, All Saints Cathedral Onitsha, Anambra State.
Built in 1983, renovated and commissioned in 2012, by former President Goodluck Jonathan, the Onitsha River Port is yet to be fully operational, as some equipment have been provided at the Site.

"Our administration will in few months conclude the concessioning process for the effective take-off of the Onitsha River Port, adding that the Federal Government is equally committed to assisting genuine investors to access the Cabotage Vessel Financing Funds in order to boost investment in shipbuilding and repair.
NIWA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MOU, for provision of modern life jacket to ensure the hazards in maritime transportation is reduced to the barest minimum.

“The Federal government was committed to pursuing the expansion of the nation’s river ports system through the development of other river ports to be driven by the private sector, including development of Baro River Ports and Lokoja River Ports.
“The government interest in ensuring the safety and security of the nation’s waterways, informed the repositioning of NIWA to partner with the Nigerian Navy and other relevant security agencies in addressing security challenges especially in the Gulf of Guinea.”

Describing water transportation as the most environmentally friendly and most cost-effective mode of transportation, I, called on shipping practitioners and other relevant stakeholders to invest more in water transportation, assuring them enabling environment to boost coastal trade.

“Nigeria’s coastline of about 853km offers opportunity for high economic activities for cargo and passenger transport as well as fishing activities.
“Government is equally committed to assisting genuine investors to access the Cabotage Vessel Financing Fund in order to boost investment in shipping building and repairs.

“Investments in agriculture, mining, solid mineral and manufacturing would bring about the required economic self-reliance.”

I regretted the spate of abuse of the waterways, including erecting structures along waterways, vowing to put an end to such abuses.
“We will be constituting a task force later in the day that will be saddled with the responsibility of pulling down illegal structures along the waterways.

“People should stop creating opportunity for us to destroy their property. The law is very clear on the consequences of abuse of waterways.”

Earlier in her address, the General Manager, NIWA Onitsha Area Office, Mrs. Telma Obi, said that Onitsha Area office is encouraging all stakeholders who may not possibly understand how NIWA can help them navigate their interest the good of all.

Subnational Transparency: Anambra State Government Partners BudgIT to Promote Fiscal Transparency
By BudgIT

The Anambra State government on Tuesday 25th February has signed an MoU with BudgIT on Open Budget System that aims to promote fiscal transparency in the state. This initiative is with the support of the Rule of Law and Anti-corruption (RoLAC) programme funded by the European Union being implemented by the British Council in five states; Adamawa, Anambra, Edo, Kano and Lagos. Anambra state government went a step further, having signed up to Open Government Partnership (OGP), to finalize its OGP State Action Plan (SAP) 2019-2021, as well as the Anambra State Anti-corruption Strategy (ANSACS) and launched both after the signing of the MoU with BudgIT.

Over the years, BudgIT, through Open Alliance, has been at the forefront of a subnational transparency campaign that encourages and supports states to sign up to the OGP, to foster fiscal transparency, access to information, citizens participation and innovation needed for inclusive development and efficient service delivery for its citizens. With the step Anambra government has taken, it has become the 6th state in Nigeria to have an approved SAP.

Anambra is one of the 13 states in Nigeria to sign on to OGP initiative but the 8th state to develop a State Action Plan (SAP). This means that five states are yet to develop or approve a plan that captures the commitments of both Government and citizens to be co-implemented by state and non-state actors in the co-creation process under the OGP.

Gabriel Okeowo - BudgIT’s Principal Lead noted that BudgIT is glad to work with the Anambra state government and citizens to achieve a transparent fiscal system by supporting the state with technical resources to make its budget more open, develop citizens' budget and a web-based feedback mechanism for citizens participation as well as enlist the state on a national web portal (developed by BudgIT) where all states financial documents will be published for increased access and citizen's participation in the governance process.

BudgIT calls on other states to be bold in their commitment to an open and inclusive government that encourages increased confidence in government and foster development at the subnational level.

Thank you.

Transparency is a good thing. It keeps government in check and focused on spending public resources judiciously. One of the few achievements of Obiano vs Obi is publishing of Accounts online - something which Saint Peter Obi with all his self-professed love for saving state money never did.

He also gave kudos to the Governor of Anambra state, Chief Willie Obiano for creating an investment friendly climate in the state which has encouraged indigenes and non-indigenes to seek wealth creating opportunities in the state.
