Tell him. Most times when ‘tradition’ or ‘custom’ is mentioned, people tend to see this as fetish, pagan etc...this is actually very good practice that must be sustained.

Marriages amongst my people are preceded by prechecks...no 1 is your blood link. If you are related in anyway no matter how distant, you’ll be advised to stop.

Checks are done on the family, even though this might not stop you from going further but you’ll be advised if there are strong suspicions about the family you intend to marry from.
