Hello dear nairalanders.

Please I'm going through a state of mental confusion.

Currently i have approximately 20 million and 300 thousand naira in my bank account.

I have two thoughts.

1) I am 25 years old but I'm not a university graduate, i only have ND (National deploma) from a polytechnic In Edo state, Auchi precisely.

I would have become a graduate years ago but after my "ND" years ago, i refused to go back to school and i decided to hustle for money.

Most of my classmates in school back then are all graduates but all the same, looking at my bank account now, i have no regrets.

So this is what i plan on doing.

1) Can i further my Education In any university in the United States with the money and plan on staying back after my degree, for the fact that I'm 25.
Will that be advisable?

2) should i stay back in Nigeria and use part of the money to build a house In my hometown in Benin and use the rest for business?

3) Is there a chance of going to USA and start all over again, look for job.
Will the money be enough to rent a house, foot some bills untill i see a job in the USA.

Note i choose USA only because it's my dream country, I'm not scared of the traveling ban because I'm 100% confident that it will be taken away few months from now.

Please i won't be replying any mention or questions.

All i want is to take note of good advice.

I already know a reliable traveling agent.

Please other suggestions are welcomed apart from mine.

Please go into mushroom cultivation. The ROI is a minimum of 300%.

Expand the current business that got you this far.
1. The U.S is a no no because of it unfriendly visa regime.
2. I ll advice you convert some of the 20m to dollars to hedge against devaluation.
3. Invest in dollar based mutual fund.
4. Get some landed asset in Lagos or Abuja.
5. Go back to school do a BBA & MBA.

Dont listen to anybody telling you to stay back in nigeria and start a business. Most of them advising you to do so have never made 500k of their own.

If I had 20 million right now, I'd stay in Nigeria. If I had 1 billion, I'd even stay more in Nigeria. The level of placement 20 mill will give you in 9ja can give you 100 mill in 2 years or less. Those of us in construction know this. So, personally, I'd stay.
If I don't even know what to do which 20 million, an easier way to double that is to just go to a big market in any part of the country and ... Anyway, no need to waste ideas. Make una dey move make more space d turn up. With the right capital, Nigeria's biggest assets is it's corrupt system and huge population. If you know, you know.

My advise for you is to stay back and invest that money in business.

I would suggest treasury bill for you. You make your cool cash every 3 months .

Mind you treasury bill is not crypto.

What do you mean by real skills? I’m assuming the OP will be intelligent enough to get the required skills in his STEM major. Study hard, build himself on the side, lot of hackerank practice test and other self-development.

You’re right. Employers won’t employ people without required skills in the first place. This is USA where merit is very important.

Mind you on the average, he will get at least $75k - $85k annually even with intermediate knowledge of coding or other skills.

You have a genuine case to move to USA. Am pleased with your choice of words and deeper understanding of life at this age of yours.
As good as your intention is, I will like you to ponder over these:
1. The money you saved is enough for a start up as a student in USA knowing fully well that you will subsequently and sooner get a menial job that will cover alot of your expenses.
2. How productive and demanding is the course you want to study in USA? The big world like USA looks for a solution driven skills and as such get a course that will place you in a vantage position.
3. Your family and siblings will be better for it. I am living witness to this. My elder brother is a practising medical doctor in Melbourne, Australia. So the difference Is like day and night.

Please my brother my advice for you is to go to Canada. 25 years is a good age to immigrate. You want ur permanent residency to be easy. It's not so easy in the U. S especially the legal way. But with 20 million and even less you can process express entry or get admission in Canada and follow through with your permanent residency and citizenship. Can you see how many times I've mentioned permanent residency.Why? Because getting that is VERY IMPORTANT. You can always go back to Nigeria after a while if Canada for whatever reason doesn't work for you. But trust me you don't want to be worrying about generator at 45 years. Do you really think that Buhari and Nigerian current leaders in general are ready for population expansion that is brewing in Nigeria. Is the country moving forward? Will things get better? Are we developing and making provisions for unborn generations. I don't think so

Split your money into two, invest half into stocks of a very stable company, NB , MTN, FirstBank, GTB etc and use the rest to relocate to US and start your new hustling, if you can make 20 million hustling in Nigeria, chances are you would make 100 million in US because US is for smart thinkers and not dull people.. incase if things don't work out in US you can always fall back to your 10million naira stock

PS: before listening to people telling you to do business, 90% of all start ups in Nigeria don't survive the 3 years mark, forex changes, bad government policy, fraudulent stafss and all would finish your capital

Your mind is made up on travelling and I support your view. You also sound like the money came from keyboard pressing. I advise you put N3-N5m in a business with fast turnover. Look for what you're most comfortable with. At the same time make your street connect stronger. Use N1m to travel build travel history, go to UAE, SA, Kenya.

Finally, look for strong connect to enter USA, buy confirmed job or use admission. Do not build house because you will exhaust that money. You be Benin boy, use your brain. If USA fail, pay school fees for Sweden and leave. Sweden 100% sure.

Also avoid beggars in whatever form they come in. Them go beg that money finish. Still first laugh you when you broke.

Did your hustle for the big bucks compromise or enhance the safety of lives and the sanity of Nigerians

Whatever hustle you did that gave you 20m at 25, why not continue with it if it’s legal. If you pump the N20m with you into the hustle, you will be making lots of money. In the next 4-5 years, you may be worth about N500m. Why throw this kind of prospect away just to go and start life all over again in another country?
