For the EHs in the house please say your prayers and connect with higher authorities you know. I just finished from a call with a friend and him and his brother received their letters of employment on Tuesday for EH positions. I was in the know when things were happening and am glad for them it clicked. Alot of this EH positions is being taken up through back channels but hopefully something good comes out for you guys. Keep hope alive.

The staff in refineries were agitating for transfer to other subsidiaries as there is nothing much going on in the refineries. They argued that their career growth is stunted, hence the agitation for transfer to other subsidiaries. Now, management is trying to sort their issue with some other internal posting before bringing in new EH. This is the info I got from an insider.

@ Bold, all this should have been sorted out before now. They appear unorganised , putting the cart before the horse. Funny thing is that reshuffling will still take place after the new hands gets in.

Stay at your job and depending on when you graduated - keep applying for graduate trainee opportunities that come up in engineering. You should also monitor scholarhsip opportunities that come up which will give you a chance to get a master's in Engineering

Keep trying and networking for engineering opportunities - as for graduate trainee some still have upper limits of 30 or 31 years old with some without any age limits, just year of graduation

Dear Lilangel, in chess sometimes one has to sacrifice the Queen to achieve a checkmate. You have indicated that the odds stack against you age-wise, so my suggestion is this:

1. Stop hitting your panic button

2. Remain in your present place of work, do it diligently, earn your salary then use your earnings to pursue professional certifications in your desired field of Engineering

3. Once you bag your professional certifications, this is where you now have to sacrifice your Queen (viz. your fair monthly salary of 151k) and look for a small but active engineering coy where you can serve as an intern or something similar (most likely with a much meagre pay of course). Sometimes being broke will make you question this decision but the amount of passion you have for the desired field should prevail. Just take it as trading salary for experience.

4. Ensure you look up the job description of vacancies in the field you wish to switch to as it will guide you in choosing a small company that can train you in such roles.

5. Grab every available knowledge as an intern and ensure your CV is robust with job competence, skills and achievements. This can tarry for more than a year.

6. Depending on your ability to learn quickly, I believe you can start applying for roles in that field with bigger and better paying companies after the first year.

Disclaimer: It takes a very passionate and determined person to take this step, if you don't have a thick skin, kindly ignore. However, please bear in mind that what does not give you joy now can never give you joy even if the salary is tripled. You'll just end up being a robot without any meaningful impact no matter how you try to feign commitment.

I am a graduate of chemical engineering with a 2:1 and cgpa of 4.01, I am presently working at an organization's as a digital marketing executive with a pay of 151k...I do not find job satisfaction in this organization becos i have being with them for 2years and no serious training has happened...I really want to find my way back to engineering this year becos I am getting irrelevant experience here...please where do I start from...Should I quit my job and be more focused?...I do not have my MSC yet, dont have any certification in chem ENGR...

Some are to resume on the 11th.

Regarding the trainee positions for STEM grads as I earlier posted, I received a lot of CVs but only 41 met the minimum criteria for the positions.

Majorly: info Tech, communications, Mech, Elect, Computer, and other strength engineering fields.

Your CVs have been forwarded to the appropriate quarters. The company (IHS TOWERS) will contact you directly for further steps.
