When you are asking for almost N3 trillion naira in return for darkness you give out, why will the government rush to agree to your request.

Discos are declaring force majeure because they are not allowed to set their prices.

NERC forces them to in essence sell power at 30 % of the actual cost price, then there is the fact that most people don't pay their bills, and estimated billing even makes the matter worse, and even government agencies owe discos.

This means low income for the discos and by extension the Gencos.

Government could change things by allowing discos to charge the price they want, punish defaulters, pay the discos what they the government owe them, enfrce meter distribution, and so on.

The elephant in the room is that power is expensive, and it is going to cost lots to get to stable & steady power supply

Because they are willing to pay the high prices that they pay over there.

Nigerians want power for free, even though our income is very low.(oil is not the big earner we think it is)

You people with all this garbage mindset.

Bonny in Rivers State has 24hours electricity and all buildings including shanties have power, because they use prepaid meter. Nobody has time for you if you like pay, if you like don't pay. Nobody has bypassed their meters.

Ghanaians are not willing to pay more when they earn less.

The fact is Jonathan put Nigeria in a snare because everything for him was about corruption.

The DISCOS have nothing to offer and should we continue with them, we would have no adequate power supply for years to come.

They should be done away with, but doing away with them now may actually be more expensive than our annual budget.

In any case, we have to find a way.

Nigerians would rather pay for electricity than fuel for their generators.

FG should give you your money back? That is after you have been profiteering for years by collecting electricity bills from customers while you reject load from TCN, thereby ripping off the poor masses.

This Saleh Mamman is a disaster waiting to happen in the power sector.. you sacked the Rural Electrification Boss because she insisted no new village must be connected to the National grid except Electricity Generation and Distribution Increases, Now that she is with UN and they have replaced her with another Haboki, They have started giving approval for more and more northern villages to connect to the power grid, depleting the little capacity we have for industries

.

Tell me more sir.

Can you post some links too.

Thanks

I don't know if Nigeria is the only country where recommend prices are not adhered to, because it is successful in other climes.

Example a car manufacturing companies has dealership agreements, interested businessmen/women register with them. Most times the dealership is given a retail price ceiling for the products and they all adhere to the pricing set by the manufacturer.

But in Nigeria, the dealership after accepting the conditions of the manufacturer, would complain he can't make profit at manufacturer recommended retail price which he was aware of earlier.

Some companies have even gone ahead to print prices (Eg Indomie, and Coke, Fanta) yet the sellers always sell above the price. tongue tongue tongue

Share the details of the return and what you were demanding from the FG.

The FG sold to you and still funded you to equip yourselves but you all coped the money and still want to return the company and collect money. Even GEJ as daft as he was won’t accept such let alone PMB.
How is PMB less daft than GEJ?
As far as we can see, PMB is less educated, less articulate and understands issues less than GEJ.

Give you back your money? Who the heck it was that have been ripping citizens off in the name of estimated billings? In my opinion, the DISCOs are a big fraud. Have we cared to identify the true owners of the companies? They are the same dem-dem! Economic saboteurs! After causing heartaches for most of our citizens and sending some to their early graves they want to stylishly escape under the guise of Force Majeure.

Lol...

Submitting license back to FG got a lot.

*NERC ceases to exist...(aboki job loss. Na people wey wan create bokoharam agency go lose another one?)

*Power Supply would be stable... recently, there's been a debate about Siemens taking over our power systems... Germans nor dey joke.

*Business would crumble....the politicians of generators importation and mirage fuel subsidy ninjas become broke ass niggas niccur

Boko Haram would go extinct.... Don't really know how. It requires 7th degree Fourier Transform Analysis. But we all know businesses would be easy to do down South.

Generator importers are not in anyway behind power challenges in Nigeria. They don't have that clout to sabotage power across Nigeria besides since you started leaving outside your parents coverings, how many generators have you acquired? How many persons known to you acquired brand new generators in the last five years?

Government through their agencies are responsible for the situation we found ourselves and then businessmen started cashing in and out on it.

Please do no use the utopic state of affairs in Bonny to judge the rest of Nigeria! The electricity supply is like dash and is not run in a commercial way as electricity distribution is not the daily business on NLNG.

First of all NLNG provided all the electricity and meter infrastructure in Bonny. The cost of doing that for a relatively small island is tiny compared to the multi billion $ investment going on at the LNG plant at the time.

Also, what they pay for electricity in Bonny is next to nothing.

Those guys will just come up bogus several billions of naira as an amount they have invested in the power sector, that's besides the amount they paid when buying the distribution companies.

Discos' capacity to deliver is severely limited by dilapidated transmission infrastructure and FG does not want to unbundle this (transco) too; why? because some regions would automatically surge ahead of others, development-wise.

Nigerians don't want power for free. They don't just want to pay for what is not available. Make light available, enforce metering and punish offenders. Then see if nigerians will not comply

The mistake Jonathan made was putting in price controls.

If , for example, Obasanjo had put in price controls in the GSM sector, there would have been zero investment, and our GSM network won't be as large as it is.(and I won't be typing this from the comfort of my house)

If you want to wreck an economy, bring in price controls. No profit, no investment, and a lot of weird things happen

1.I use prepaid meter, and power isn't constant in my area.

2.We are not generating enough power for 24//7 light. When Lagos needs 10000MW alone for light 24/7.

3.I think Bonny is near a power plant. Power of proximity and all that.

They were never ready to invest in the sector
They wanted to be collecting bills with estimated billings so wen the prepaid Meter came they find out it was not what they anticipated
