Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje with a newly employed teacher receiving his letter of appointment on Tuesday at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano

Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on Tuesday ban begging in the state.

Abdullahi Umar Ganduje said the action is to fully consolidate the free and compulsory primary and secondary schools education of the state with a clear integration of the Almajiri system to the policy and by way of addressing the lingering problem of the social menace of begging.

He made this known during the launching of Basic Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA) and Distribution of Offer of Appointment to 7,500 volunteer teachers, held at Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, Tuesday.

A statement issued on Tuesday by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Abba Anwar and forwarded to Solacebase said Ganduje explained that “This policy of free and compulsory basic and secondary education goes along with it integration of our Almajiri system into the mainstream policy implementation. Which suggests that English and Arithmetic must be included in the Almajiri schools curriculum.”

This, according to him would go a long in giving those kids another type of education, “….while they will continue acquiring their study of the Holy Qur’an, they would at the same time learn English and Arithmetic, that will give them an opportunity to continue with their studies to secondary schools and beyond,” he explains.

A total number of 8,000 newly recruited teacher volunteers under the BESDA program are employed and were given letters of appointment, “…they will be posted to Islamiyyah and Almajiri schools so that our Almajiri schools would be fully integrated under our new policy of education,” he explains.

In the statement, the governor warned that henceforth any Almajiri teacher with such pupils under Almajiri school arrangement must accept the new approach put in place by the state government, explaining that, “If you think you cannot accept that, then you leave the state!

When beggars are caught, the governor added, it is not only that beggar that is caught, but his parents and/or guardians, according to the governor would be taken to court for disrespecting our laws.

At the occasion, 8,000 offers were distributed to the newly recruited teachers who hold National Certificate of Education (NCE), all from the 44 local government areas of the state.

Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, commended the effort of the state government in the education sector, adding that what the state is doing under the new policy is exemplary. He was represented by a Director from the Ministry Mrs Liman.

Also, the State Chairman of State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr Danlami Hayyo reveals that, apart from construction of new classes and renovation of many, they were able to produce 16, 327 3-Seater chairs for the schools.

The program was attended by many development partners and other federal government agencies. Among the dignitaries who blessed the occasion were the Emirs of Bichi, Gaya, Rano and Karaye. While the Emir of Kano who is out of the country sent a representative.

A great news about Nigeria, finally.

And a really important one for that matter.

This makes me really happy.

Praying for those kids and the North

NOTE: This is not an endorsement of Ganduje in ANY way. The man is a thief and is a travesty he is still Gov.
But that a state as significant as Kano bans the terrible Almajiri system is EXTREMELY important. Am just happy for the kids

Who did this to the north?
President Goodluck Jonathan started this Almajiri school to help cut down the level of illiteracy in the north.
Tell me what he didn't do so that the north will be happy yet they hated him and prefered a visionless man because he is their brother.
Why are they now forcing down Jonathan's visions on their people
Tell me what policy their own brother has brought in place to better their region
God is watching them, let them kontinu
All this evil they are committing with Boko Haram and herdsmen will never go unpunished.
You can never cheat nature

We always love people that appreciate good things and criticize bad things when they see it.

Not a set of losers who want criminals back in power and continue to wail and cry 24/7 all about negativity in life.
They are known as children of hate, perdition and frustration.
That's why they will always be stagnant.
They never see anything good in life.
Blind followers.

Instead of coming together as sane youths to criticize adequately, they have turned it to annoying political jabs, filled with hatred, curses and tribal/religion shenanigans.
What a shame!
Even those of us that sent Jona back to Otuoke
appreciated some few positive things during his 6 years of cluelessness.

Nameo, God bless you.
And that happiness will never depart from your life.
Nigeria will be great again.

cool

wow... Sanusi's speech really ruffled them, good one to ganduje

let is be known, mujahideens that the Northerners copy wrongly are not children, they travel to acquire knowledge and not only study Quran alone, they study philosophy, astromy and arithmetic some even graduate from some of the earliest islamic universities, they work and partake in trans sahara trade

Quran is against begging, it is against child abuse of kids bellow 14, almajiri isn't done in any Islamic country except Northern Nigeria

Northerners should know Arabs boast of some best philosophers like Avicenna and al-Khwarizmi , mathematiacians with al-Khwarizmi being the one who introduced the number system we currently use worldwide, and physicians

•Coffee. ...
•University. ...
•Algebra. ...
•Optics. ...
•Number sytem
can all be credited to Muslims and Arabs research

This is anti Islam. We have to always give alms to beggars. It's part of our Islamic tradition. My beloved Governor, do not let the wolf cries of kafirs to distort the tenet of our Islamic society

Seconded once again.
One of the law we have to come together and abolish in our nation is the power of immunity that the evil party bestowed on us before they left.
It has done more harm than good.
The same thing Fayose enjoyed that he was able to steal more funds from the citizens he govern.

We are very sure that you didn't vote for PMB during the last election and very very certain that you did not vote for a world recognized thief also.
When people like you talk,
the people should respect your words and listen so that we can all work together and go along to a better country.
Not the charlatans who clamoured for impunity, looting and pilfering of our national treasury.
Those who support fraudsters and all evil against Nigeria.
The enemies of the state.
Those who voted for a thief!
For those ones evil haters, they will continue to be ignored or giving the necessary knocks and foolishness they bring to @ and other
sane Nigerians door.

We Rise.
Stay blessed man.

Seems this Governor is really doing a good job for the citizens he governs.
No wonder they came out to vote for him MASSIVELY, during the last election.
