Using Of Internet In Nigeria - Why Not? by val2117: 6:12pm On Feb 25, 2020 |
I can do anything I want, using a smartphone and the Internet. I don’t even need to leave my room. But though it gives lots of opportunities, I’ve noticed that lots of people just ignore the Internet and everything that’s related to it. Why is that? Do you have any relatives or friends who refuse to use the Internet or don't understand how and why to do it? What do they say? 1 Like |

val2117:No, it’s good. The more people who read up facts on the internet the closer the country gets in completely eradicating ignorance. |

scoundrel: Agree. But my parents, for example, don't understand it. They say that better to meet and talk in real life. And I don't mind, that's true...but some business you can do much faster through the internet |

val2117:If they see their friends on Facebook and WhatsApp they’ll learn how to use the medium in under two weeks. They say that better to meet and talk in real life. The world is a global village now. In a small town where the nearest path to civilization is a long journey, and only one phone mast is the people’s means to enlightenment, I strongly believe the Internet is a better means to obtain facts than asking around or using outdated library books. And I don't mind, that's true...but some business you can do much faster through the internetMeh, I don’t believe so at the former. Technology is created to improve lives. Anything done faster online is not worth the pain of struggling for offline. Yes, many businesses are more efficient online and have a wider reach. I’ve read of teenage boys in bedrooms in European villages creating internet radio stations which reach a global audience compared to their 2,000 capacity hometowns. Take this forum for instance, the admin claims everyone around his locale is happily ignorant. If he aimed to serve only his ‘village’ he would retire to farming by now. |

scoundrel: Yes! And I'm so curious about what can be done so that they would not be ignorant. Why do they live like that, eh... how do you think can it be changed? |

val2117:People change only if they see the need to. The adults in his location are unredeemable. Any grown-up who feels the need to better him/herself will ask questions and search around for knowledge. Hope lies on their children being exposed through quality education. It is only education which will break the cycle of ignorance endemic in the society. |
