https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=foLI3KGbMnk During the Summer of 2018, Bart D. Ehrman and Peter J. Williams joined as guests with moderator Justin Brierley on the "Unbelievable" show called "The Big Conversation," Season 2-Episode 3. The story of Jesus: Can we trust the historical reliability of the Gospels? Arguably, no individual has influenced the course of history more than Jesus of Nazareth. Today, over 2000 years since he lived, his story still influences the lives of millions of people. Yet, in recent decades many have questioned whether the Gospel stories are a true reflection of the central figure of Christianity. So can we trust the accounts of his life, death and alleged resurrection? Leading New Testament scholar Bart Ehrman is well known for his critique of the historicity of the Gospels. He engages with leading Cambridge University Bible scholar Peter J. Williams who defends the reliability of the accounts. Bart D. Ehrman is the James A. Gray Distinguished Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He came to UNC in 1988, after four years of teaching at Rutgers University. At UNC he has served as both the Director of Graduate Studies and the Chair of the Department of Religious Studies. A graduate of Wheaton College (Illinois), Professor Ehrman received both his Masters of Divinity and Ph.D. from Princeton Theological Seminary, where his 1985 doctoral dissertation was awarded magna cum laude. Peter J. Williams is the Warden (CEO) of Tyndale House and a member of the Faculty of Divinity in the University of Cambridge. He received his MA, MPhil and PhD, in the study of ancient languages related to the Bible from Cambridge University. Staffed in the Faculty of Divinity, Cambridge University (1997–1998). Affiliated Lecturer in Hebrew and Aramaic and as Research Fellow in Old Testament at Tyndale House, Cambridge (1998–2003). Faculty of the University of Aberdeen, Scotland and later Warden in the history of Tyndale House. |

LordReed:Almost everything. All I got was something about the expansion of space simple it didn't put it straight. |
Re: The Non-Christian Chatbox ( sticky ) by LordReed(m): 7:58am On Feb 29, 2020 |
Ausrichie: Well that's the gist of it. Most of the other stuff is technical. Basically, our universe is the result of the rapid expansion of a hot dense state. There was no explosion in case you are wondering. It was an expansion that birth what we know as the space time continuum. |

The female sense of sharing originated as familial sharing—care of the young, the gathering and preparation of food, sharing joys, love and sorrows. Funeral lamentation originated with women. Religion began as a female monopoly, wrested from them only after its social power became too dominant. Women were the first medical researchers and practitioners. There has never been any clear balance between the sexes because power goes with certain roles as it certainly goes with knowledge. —THE STOLEN JOURNALS 1 Like 1 Share |

"Do you know how to unite the people behind you, Child Carridin? The quickest way? Loose a lion - a rabid lion - in the streets. And when panic grips the people, once it has turned their bowels to water, calmly tell them you will deal with it. Then you kill it, and order them to hang the carcass up where everyone can see. Before they have time to think, you give another order, and it will be obeyed. And if you continue to give orders, they will continue to obey, for you will be the one who saved them, and who better to lead?" • Robert Jordan, The Dragon Reborn Remind you of some other story you know? Clarifying thought, Christians and Muslims have to pretend their god is perfect. Otherwise none of the things they say would make sense. 1 Like |

I've known for a while about how the big three religions were crafted from Egypt's book of the dead and other beliefs/philosophy. But it's interesting to see how Hinduism is a carbon copy of Egyptian religion. Like, there's no debating it because virtually every concept and deity is exactly as depicted in every scrap of Egyptian art/literature/etc. What's more significant is that Ethiopia basically colonized and "civilized" Egypt, along with India. But given Ethiopian Christianity, it seems any pre-Christian info will be limited and suppressed. People fixate on Europe's "Moors"/colonizers, but that's a closed case due to overwhelming historical evidence. They were obviously Africans from literally every corner. The phenotypes are all there. And lest we forget, all of their oldest churches depict Jesus and Mary as basically Sudanese. It's funny when you think about it. Millions of racists pray to There's an estimated 1.28 billion Catholics worldwide asking for strength from Sudanese baby Jesus. |

Clarifying thought, Christians have a "personal relationship" with a the mental construct they call god or Jesus which they have put together from bits of information from the bible and their preachers. This is why their god's attributes varies from person to person and congregation to congregation. There is no objective person they are having a relationship with, it's all in their heads. 1 Like |

LordReed: Mental construct, huh? Is this any different from what the egregore guy is espousing? |
Re: The Non-Christian Chatbox ( sticky ) by LordReed(m): 9:55am On Mar 14, 2020 |
elated177: Very different. A mental construct doesn't gain any form of autonomy, it has no power except what the person constructing it gives it and cannot form its own motives beyond what it has been constructed with. The egregore concept seems to be an autonomous thing/creature/being, having its own power and motives. |

THE KING SAYS: TO BE FREE OF PASSIONS AND TO BE CALM IS THE MOST EXCELLENT WAY |
Re: The Non-Christian Chatbox ( sticky ) by LordReed(m): 9:26pm On Mar 15, 2020 |
dontrulee: That king is wrong. Passions are part of what it is to be human. If the king is saying we should deny our humanity then that king is high on something bad for his health. |
Re: The Non-Christian Chatbox ( sticky ) by dontrulee: 12:41am On Mar 16, 2020 |
LordReed: The king is right. The excellent way reverts you to your primal innocence. it takes you above the level of humanity. what has your humanity gotten you to? The king says: To be free of the passions and to be calm is the most excellent way. |
Re: The Non-Christian Chatbox ( sticky ) by LordReed(m): 1:28am On Mar 16, 2020 |
dontrulee: The king is a dunce. Primal innocence is a ridiculous concept as primal connotes instinctive which is all about passions and adding innocence which connotes lack of discernment. So the dunce king wants you in an instinctive state of lack of discernment and is calling that excellent, what a clueless king. Our humanity got us the device you are using to post the nonsense advice from an intoxicated king. |
