locodemy: Health wise, people will survive it. But I like the fear displayed worldwide. See one Turkish stock losing 47% in a single day. As in half of your investment wiped off in a single day. I laughed and my money laughed as well. |

chillykelly86: Who was the guy that bought FBN at 7 when it dropped from 7.70. FBN fell to 4.60. He automatically lost N3.10. Almost 50%. It is not easy losing money o. @chillykelly, at least you bought low unlike those who rushed in when Zenith was at 23. Always stay at the lower lows. |

robobo: All investors rushed into the US treasuries lowering the rates to all time low. The 10 year got to a level never seen in the history of US at 1.163%. At a point the 2 year treasury was losing around 16% because a large number of people rushed it. Rates crashed. Fed will have no option but to intervene and calm the market. You see that rate cut they said they will not do in this 2020, they will do it and even do it in emergency. Market needs 'opium' to get high. At least Mcy can run her commentaries. |

sellydion: The problem we have in this country is that we only think 'now'. See you calling for prayers instead of action! When Peterichy was sending warnings about coronavirus, they called him harbinger of bad news saying because he had sold. You don't need rocket science to extrapolate the effect on your economy. All you just need is a rogue traveller for the same problem in China to manifest in your backyard. You suppose to learn and dey play Chess o. It helps you think 5 to 8 moves in advance (even think your opponents likely moves) . At every point in time, you have a strong move to counter your opponents attack. 1 Like 1 Share |

However fact remains that businesses are affected, reduce vehicular traffic and flights, small business closures etc. The main oso abiola has not started. locodemy: But you are on cash na. Market will always go up and down. The truth is the bottom would have been reached if not for this corona virus. Don't get emotional about stocks you pick. I noticed that most people get too emotional when they speak about the stocks they hold instead of have an open mind to learn. Such people have no business investing in stocks. Emotions and stock investing don't go together. You must be ruthless when buying and you must be ruthless when selling. 1 Like |

Krisuba: My advice is for guys to wait since you couldn't sell. Those that bought high will definitely be around 30 to 50% loss now. If you know you bought good dividend paying stocks, wait it out. This one too will come and go. NSE will still remain. And if prices continue to decline, target to buy only based on DY. What do I mean? If you bought stock X at N10. And the company pays N1 as dividend. This is 10% dividend yield (DY) . If the stock continue to slide and it goes to N5, while you suffer 50% loss in capital, you know that the DY is now 20% presuming they continue to pay that N1. If you are satisfied with 20% DY, you can go in for it and load if only you have money o. If price continues to fall towards N4, you are losing but your DY will keep increasing assuming the dividend remains constant. You buy alot. That way, you will be enjoying a cashflow even when your portfolio is bleeding. But those I pity are those that buy stocks that doesn't give cashflow in event that the stocks stay depressed for long. You get nothing in capital appreciation and still get no dividend. It is like hungry bingo that fools a very slim and hungry man. He can't poo neither can he vomit. You end up becoming Aaron! Those on cash will be happy with a falling market because they can enter when they are okay with their DY of the stock they see. At this point, they get greedy looking for DY >25%. While those in the market will be praying for recovery, they will be praying for more tanking. Bedbug told her offsprings to stay calm, that whatever that is hot must definitely be cold. So relax, it will be well after a while. 9 Likes |

owoblow77: Some of this things are not too difficult to comprehend but oftentimes we still find it hard. The write-up from page 135 was clearly a typo error. UBA WILL pay an 80k final dividend and NOT 60k !! The 80k payment matches the figures the company quoted as its pay out ratio(DPR) and gross dividend figure in the NTS using the banks current OS. The write-up from page 135 was CLEARLY A TYPO ERROR and should be completely disregarded. Regards 2 Likes |

Chibuking81: The thing I was thinking aside the divergence in prices was a bank run in China and possibly a global recession as a result of that. I discussed this with my Ogas (Wanaj) and with CP (though recession only) . In 2019, China has had 4 bank runs. I drew a parallel to what happened in 2008 financial crisis where before the crisis started around March 2008, there was a bank run in the UK (Northern Rock). So I asked myself, why is the same thing repeating before 2020. And I ran a check on all indices worldwide. Most of them were at ATH. Most higher than it were in 2008. I said to myself if January 2020 comes with a bull that I had been waiting for, I will check the volumes. If there is no hoarding of shares (hallmark of bullish stage) but a huge volume, my dear I will run. I watched the volume in the first week, I saw huge volumes. I was not convinced until 2nd week. The volumes were huge. I had to leave the bus. I can't come and go and kee myself. Instead of bank run, it was Coronavirus. However the problems are still there in China which could trigger a run. Businesses closed. Some are reopening. These took loans for their businesses. What impact will these have on banks. NPLs will grow. Banks will be pressured. If banks are pressured, and state must intervene. Where there is no quick interventions, banks may collapse and a run starts. If there is a run in China, the creditors are in pressure. This becomes global. And oso abiola happens. Everyone straight to his village. This Virus is making it very likely. 8 Likes 1 Share |

I still expect market to tank. I buy during rounds of panic. Friday was a good panic. I hope I can get UBA at 3. That dividend yield will be 33% |
