The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Note 8 were released in 2017 with Android 7 based on Samsung Experience. They were given updates till Android 9 based on One UI 1·0.
Now that Android 10 has been launched, a lot were expecting the updates to get to their phones. Now let's know if the phones will be given the updates.

Despite the fact that Samsung's support reps said numerous times in the past that the Galaxy S8 and Note 8 will be updated to Android 10, the South Korean company finally confirmed that these two flagships won't receive any new OS updates beyond Android 9 Pie.

What's worse is that we wouldn't have hoped to get Android 10 on these phones if not for the confusing information relayed to customers by Samsung officials. It's sad that neither of these phones will receive another Android OS update, but it's not unexpected considering they were launched on the market three years ago.

The folks at Samsung Mobile report Samsung confirmed that the Galaxy S8 and Note 8 will not be receiving Android 10 and One UI 2.0. Of course, both will continue to get security updates, but we don't expect anything major for these particular models.

There are probably a lot of people still using either of the two flagships, which will now have to upgrade to a newer phone if they want to use Android 10. Sadly, that's how things go in the Android world.

And it's not much of a big surprise though, because no Android smartphone manufacturer has given OS updates to their flagship after 3 years of it being released.

OP, your last statement is wrong. Google Pixel phones get more than 2yrs software updates. OnePlus 3T got 3yrs update too.

The Google pixel 1 released 2016 with Android 7.1 has already gotten Android 10 faster than some phone's that were released with Android 9.

About it getting Android 11, I guess we will know that soon enough.

Yes they have but even at that they're still previewing android 11. And they got through 3 major updates so it doesn't change the fact

The fact is that 3 major update is still the highest any Android phone has given
Lets wait to see if Pixel or OnePlus or Essential can change that
