The 1st slaves at the Cape came from Asia and Madagascar in 1653 around 11 souls and then later in 1658 slaves came from Angola (500 slaves) and Benin 124 people some of these were transhipped to Asia only remained at the Cape. Most West African slaves DIED OUT DUE TO COLD WEATHER AT THE CAPE only few who survived were ANGOLANS. That forced VOC to import slaves from EAST AFRICA (mainly Madagascar) AND ASIA. As you can see on that graph slave population dropped in 1658 from 404 to 32.

West African slaves from the BIGHT OF BENIN were known for being SUBMISSIVE to Europeans hence the Yorubas, Fon, Chamba, Hausa these were known as HOUSE NEGROES. They didn't cut it at the Cape DIED OUT and the surviving few resold to Indonasia .
