This was my post yesterday after the match. I did not read any report or check any rules before I made this comment. It is what has been in my memory since reading the new offside rule in 2015.

See an ex referee and the EPL saying same thing.
Elamps you are absolutely correct on this. I'm surprised the consensus here seems to be wrong decision. He is literally between the keeper and the ball when the shot is taken. Also he moved his leg so the ball could get in, that is interfering with the play in an offside position.

It always amazes me how people who clearly don't know the rules of the game can be so strong-headed in being wrong. Even after they have been shown the correct info by Elamps. You can argue the rule is wrong but you cannot argue this particular enforcement is wrong.

How can it be offside when the ball never touch him? He made Zero contact with ball. He knew he was in an offside position and as such moved his leg away when the ball was rolling to his direction.
That he moved his legs is enough to fool the goal keeper.

Dey no know ball. They have been educated so i am sure some of them would have learnt something from the argument (even though they would not admit to it).

He moved his legs, but even more significantly he was in a direct line between the keeper and the ball. In that situation he does not even have to make any movement to be deemed offside. The rules state this clearly.

Nobody wants to accept a superior opinion here, It is what it is.

Folks, argue to learn and not to avoid defeat.

Lol is that a pistol in Mona Lisa's hands? Is that why she had the mysterious smile?

The problem was not the diamond formation itself but our lack of good full back play.

When playing a diamond you need good overlapping full backs that will give the team width.

One time crosses should be the rule, but yesterday we played with 2 full backs that like to kill the move first before trying to do something with the ball.

Shaw tried to offer some width but he is not a natural going forward, but AWB in particular tucked in too much and did not offer the width that could have opened up the game more.

Our 4 midfielders played well to varying levels, Lindelof was shaky as usual, and DDG is no longer indispensable. To be honest even though he is our most talented keeper he is our 3rd most consistent one. If he leaves i doubt he will be missed but i don't even think anybody will want to buy him for serious money at this time.
Which would you suggest
1. We get wide players
2. We get a new RB

I think we're not playing one time cross because that's not what they trained on or instructed to do. They always prefer to work the ball into the box or closer to the byline to cross. Probably because our strikers prefer to receive the ball at the feet.

Martial was just hugging the left side. I thought he would be happier there, but he offered nothing.

VAR was right on this based on the rules.

Sugurdadon was too close to the ball. He was even in the direction of flow of the ball towards the goal and the goalkeeper was in goal.

His movement or being there affected the goalkeeper's decision. DeGea was going to dive for the ball but anticipating a deflection he moved to his right, I saw that clearly from one of the angles from VAR which the retired ref also said in the video above.

However, DeGea didn't have to be in a position to save the ball for the rules to apply
. Nevertheless, who says DeGea with his sharp reflexes would not have saved that ball because he has made more serious saves. DeGaa himself told Ole that Sigurdson in that position distracted him

grin grin grin

De gea, the saviour. I still don't know how Sigurdsson blocked De gea's vision. grin

1) Rashford is our 1st choice LW and he is good enough at this time. We need to get Sancho for the RW.

2) We can't spend money on a RB again. AWB is decent overall and we have 3 younger RBs in the team that may be pushing him for a starting berth in the next couple of years.

In terms of the full back crossing it is not just about instructions. AWB to an extent and Shaw especially are not confident one time crossers. Dalot and Williams (when he plays on the right) are more confident/competent with that aspect of the game.

I also think we need a striker that sits inside the box, when Ighalo came on yesterday, there were many opportunities, Fernandez brought 2 in particular, including the one Baines cleared wonderfully. I think Ole would have started Ighalo yesterday instead of Greenwood, and dropped Mctomminay for Mata. In my humble opinion, Daniel James was sorely missed in this match.

Yes. Since Martial has decided to keep blowing hot and cold we need to get another CF. I would not spend on defence for now. A CF, a RW, 1 midfielder (if Pogba stays) or 2 midfielders (if Pogba goes).

Honeslty our defence is ok, if not for DDG Brian fart yesterday, it would have been another clean sheet, and Bailly has to come in at this stage, Lindelof is putting panic in our defence.
Sancho this summer is a MUST, we must find a sharp CF who according to OGS will break a nose to score, my brother look at Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota, whenever I see those guys score, I just weep, only Rashford scores with the kind of regularity they do and with commitment, the way they charge at passes, the way the shoot and put in their bodies, Only Rashford does that. A front 3 of Rashford, Sancho and a proper CF will be great.

But most importantly, DDG issue must be addressed, do whatever you like, if you GK puts your opponents in front, there is pretty much nothing you can do. Even this current Liverpool team will struggle against Everton if Allison makes it 1-0 against them in 2 minutes

With a very skillful RW, we will be fine. We will need back ups to Rashford and the RW too

He made one error today and made up for it with the saves in the second half.

Or... he could’ve chosen not to make that mistake at all. We started the game on the back foot and it’s all his fault. It would’ve been a different ball game if we scored the first goal.

Robertson is a much better full back than Trent but he's not from England, and he doesn't drop 100 crosses per game like Trent so the media wont hype him up and compare him to Marcelo and Alves.

Trent is a winger/withdrawn playmaker not a fullback. He just happens to start at 2.

He's very much like Marcelo in how they operate, only that Marcelo is more skillful.

100 quality crosses per game bruv.

You people tried the same trick with Valencia but his pullout game is wack like tuface.

Last season De Gea cost us UCL qualification with his schoolboy errors and he’s continued this season.

He didn’t make the mistake with his leg yesterday, he made it in his head. He’s on par with Pickford on most mistakes leading to goals by GKs. Man Utd’s GK shouldn’t be in that league.

Facts only.

De Gea's mistakes are almost always due to lapses in concentration. It's like he starts daydreaming while on the pitch.

Availability and consistency are the 2 most important qualities of a goalie.
