Prepaid Meter users, pls i will like to know how much is a unit of Electricity. How many kw/h will 10,000 naira get you, most especially Ikeja electric customers.

Update: NERC approved new tariffs to 6 DISCOs in February 2022. Here are details of how much a units of electricity costs currently -

It depends on your Disco. All Discos don't charge a flat rate, maybe you will get the tariffs of each discos on NERC website, alternatively you can tweet IIkejaelectric

BEDC which is in charge of my area charges #31.26 per kwh for Single phase residential customers

A friend said he was charged 4000 for 74.8 kw/h unit, his DISCO is ikeja electric and he is a 3 phase residential customer. I think this is outrageous.

Minusing 5% of the 4k for VAT will leave you with #3800. Now #3800 divided by 74.8 is about 50.8kwh per unit. Which is on a highhhhhh side for a unit of energy for a 3 phase residential customer. Unless maybe the meter is owing some debts which Ikeja deducts each time he vends.

lol
Agents kwa? Will it be possible for someone to print an MTN airtime of #150 instead of #200 and sell? Having worked in a disco, no agent is cheating him, the disco generates the token your friend recharges, not an agent.
Sometimes some persons will be "aggrieved " on the basis of ignorance. When I was with them, one village that are on bulk ppm recharged #200,000 and it got exhausted sooner than they expected and they turned around and blamed my colleague that loaded the card on their meter. I checked the vending slip and I saw that everything was okay, no cheating, no debt deducted but it turned out they couldn't manage the energy(Nigerians know how to waste energy with 100/200 watts incandescent bulbs), but being villagers, they no wan hear Wetin I dey talk, dem still believe say my colleague scam them

Can you pls explain this? There is no way 4000 naira should be 74.8 kwh. We later bought else where and the difference was clear. That guy cheated my friend.

Yea. This is more like it for a single phase in Gbagada and environs.

I just recharged my pre-paid meter for the first time since installation in April/May.

I was made to understand that my first recharge would be at least 10,000naira as i needed to offset the units i had been using for the past 5months.

So, afer paying 10,000naira, i was given a slip containing the token. The slip reflect that i had paid a debt of 7,200naira, and that the remaining 2,800naira (VAT inclusive) got me 111.2units.

Diving 2,800naira by 111.2units gives circa 24naira/kwh. I think thats what i am being charged per unit.

I made this subscription last week Thursday, and i just checked my machine now and discovered that i use an average of 1.3kwh daily, and i am not even efficient with energy as i have 2 units of 100watts yellow bulb plus an 80watts deep freezer that was left on all through the weekend. For an area that boasts of an average of 14hours light daily, thats not bad.

So, if i divide 104.7 (my remaining units) by 1.3, that means i will have 80days until the unit gets exhausted. I am really enjoying this. Maybe i will just buy 10,000naira worth of units (almost 400units), topup and forget all about PHCN light issue for at least a year while i work out an alternate source of electricity for the period of power failure

I am reporting from EKEDC.

Cheers guys!

Just chill and buy the #10000 in December, since there will be tariff increment by next year and try to change the 100w bulbs to energy saving bulbs

No, 10k is supposed to be about 420units.

I guess you have debt on your account so it was deducted from there.

it is just like data but in this case, data is on 247. If you manage the energy , it can last you for months. What's the availability of your area? On an average, what's the average hours you get light daily?

Please house I need help concerning my prepaid metre , the EKEDP Eko installed my prepaid metre on the 9th of March 2020 and before they installed it , i was on estimated billing still they are owing me #11.969 naira on my bill as credit.

When they installed this prepaid , I went to their District with all my papers to inform them and also for them to stop billing me , which was done but just this morning I suspect the card finish because it was blinking red where it was placed.

Now I decide to recharge as a first time user, they said its #10000 which I did through a lady and she sent me the token number and unit of 81.7unit ,

I now ask her how come and what about the money Eko electricity company dey owe me ??
She said she will advice I go to the district to complain.

Now no power to even use in loading the token number on the Meter

Also I don't understand how the card just finish so quick, when in my place Agboju light is not frequent

I would strongly advice you send a mail to their HQ, copy cpc and NERC, get their mails on their websites respectively. I got a free meter, had 120k contested estimated bill cleared , EKEDC tried bringing estimated bill again in February after clearly confirming I had stopped E.B on my account.

Na so I carry the new bill took a screenshot copied NERC and and cpc again. I got about 25 days free after 48hrs of back and forth with this people.

Typically I usually got an Estimated bill of 6k suddenly it spiked to 25k.
I just renewed my first subscription last Saturday, those guys are bunch of miscreants. They have a few great staffs btw.

Goodluck

40 units is not bad though. Here in the FCT long b4 the increments that #2,000 would fetch u about 80 units. Now for that same rate u get 42 units.
