The snake's gaze was fixed on Lawrence, it's dark tongue flitting into the air every few seconds, tasting the fear, the cologne, the sweat. In that head the size of a hand like thin fangs, ready to inject a fatal amount of venom deep into his muscles.....

Lawrence surroundings vanish from his mind. In that moment there is no past or future. Every capacity of his brain was focused on the reptile before him....., he would have drowned on the horror before him if Justice hadn't intervene by throwing a long stick at the snake that quickly retreated and crawl under the grasses.....

Lawrence didn't want to know if it was still there, he manage to stand up before Justice supported him and together they ran from the place, their head buzzling with possibilities the snake could be following them...

Dorathy ran behind Kess, her hair whipping back and forth behind her like a fiery tale as she flung herself over stones and grasses

The young man jumped into an uncompleted building disappearing out of Kess sight.., Kess took out his pistol before jumping in..., he knew the young man was there, hiding somewhere in the building...

The pistol is his hand, he walk into an empty space and then another room, just when he was about entering another room, the man's hand knock off his gun from his hand, what followed was a kick to Kess calves.., Kess reciprocated by throwing a punch at the man's face...

The punch sent the man's staggering, when he tried to fight back, Kess caught his hand, twist it not minding how the man groaned in pains..., then he kicked the man's legs and knock him down to his knees....

Dorathy quickly wore handcuff on the man's hand before he could regain his strength to fight back....

"Who are you...?"Dorathy asked anxiously...."Why did you run when you saw us...?"

The man glared at Dorathy but gave no reply..

Kess pick up his gun from the floor before searching the man's pocket....

"Oh God...."Dorathy exclaim in less shock when Kess took out the killer drugs from the man's pocket..

"Where did you get this from...?"Kess asked

The man glared at him before a hiss leaped out of his mouth...

Kess sniffle, flare his nose before turning to face Dorathy...
"Stand him up..."

Dorathy managed to stand the man up despite the man's struggle....

"Why do you have this..?"Kess asked again flaunting the drug in the man's face...

Pain erupted from the point of contact and blood pooped from the man's mouth....

The man gagged before a taunting smile surround his lips infuriating Kess more....

Rage took hold of Kess and once again he pulled out his gun, opened the man's mouth and shove the gun muzzle in...

"Kess...."Dorathy blare out at the sudden move....

Kess move the muzzle in the man's mouth making the man feel it before he wrapped his finger around the trigger..

"Kess stop..."Dorathy said when she realised the man was shivering....

"I swear to God I'll blow your brains out if you don't tell me what I want to hear..."Kess scowled....

The man gagged, his drools dropping into the gun, the corners of his mouth moved but nothing came out...

"I think he was going to the chiefs house..."Dorathy cut in...

Kess glare at the man, his fingers shook around the trigger and Dorathy fear he was going to shoot.., but quickly felt relieved when Kess pull the gun from the man's mouth forcing the man to cough....

Kess cleaned out the man's siliva from the gun with the man's shirt, kept his gun and quickly grabbed the man by the arm and push him forward...

It wasn't long before they got back to the chief's house..., Dorathy hold the man while Kess knocked on Dario's door again but this time there was no answer, he knocked again, no answer came..., just then it occured to him, he has been right all this time, Dario is guilty, either for the kings dead or something else..., something deadly...

"He's not answering..."Kess said with purse lips...

"He couldn't have gone out...."Dorathy said but Kess gave no heed to her words, instead he took the handcuff man from him and make him face him...

"Why were you bringing this to the chief...?"Kess asked

The man burrowed his eyes into his, and stick his head closer to his....
"Go to hell..."He said crisply

The message sent Kess insides seething with anger and he was almost at the verge of punching him again but he hold himself.....

"I will show you hell..."He said instead and shove the man into the backseat of the police vehicle....

They entered the front seat and drove out of Dario's compound...

His body and injured hand cut through bushes but he didn't care, he kept on running, his own footsteps sounding rough in his ears... .

Series of bullet rumbled behind him and when Justice screamed he knew he has been hit...

Justice shouted as more bullets dropped on his back penetrating into his body before he fell to the ground, his shirt soaked in blood...

"Go..."He shouted at Lawrence with his last strength...

Tears poured out from Lawrence eyes and he continue running, obeying the dying man's wish.....

"Idiot..."Riot, the leader of the gang said to Justice and rain more bullets into his body and Justice finally gave up the ghost..

Not sure where he was running to, Lawrence ran deep into the bush..., his legs running faster than his brain, his feet kicked a wood and he fell to the ground.., he rolled from where he was to a lower ground until he hit his head on a stone..., his bullet wound, the pain in his head quickly drag him into an oblivion of unconsciousness....

"Drop the gun..."The other two policemen shouted pointing theirs at him...

His smile slipped..."Of course..."He sneer before pushing the policeman forward, in that moment, he fired bullets on the three policemen before they could take a shot..

"Shit...."He sneered when the bullets from the gun finish....

He quickly threw the gun down, went to his bag, pack the rest of the clothes....

"My babies...."He crowled as he saw the guns underneath the clothes, he took one out and sow more bullets into the dead policemen....

"Stupid policemen..."He snarled and spat on one of the police faces....

He heard his phone ringing and he quickly walked to the car, pick his phone from the seat and answered the call....

"Samie where are you...?"A voice sounded from the other end...

"Who are you....?"A man queried cocking the rifle, hands wrapped firmly around the trigger and pointed at Lawrence face, waiting for signal to fire from his brain..

Lawrence couldn't breathe, couldn't swallow, he was stuck on the menacing aura in from of him....

"Who are you...?"The man yelled again, his finger curling round the trigger..just then his brain signalled him....FIRE...

STILL ON DAY 1







"Please don't shoot..."Lawrence shouted immediately......

"Who are you...?"The man reiterated still pointing the rifle at him....

"I got lost..."Lawrence said...."I had an accident, I jump out of my car and ....., and I hit my head on a wood, that is how I fell unconscious...."

He swallowed before his eyes glance at his injured arm, some kind of leaves were covering his wound and surprisingly the blood wasn't flowing anymore...

"I removed the bullet..."The man said dropping the rifle at his side....

"Thank you.."Lawrence mutter

"Sorry I pointed the gun at you...., I wanted to be sure you weren't a bad person.."

"I'm not a bad person..."Lawrence replied quickly

"Then how come you have a bullet in your arm...?"

Lawrence sigh, his head brooding over how he was shot....

"I was shot.."He said crisply

"By who...?"

"Some people are chasing me...."

"Who...?"

He bit slightly at his lower lip..."I.. I don't know..."

"You don't know or you don't want to tell me..."

"I don't know...."

"So you saying people you don't know who wants you dead.., who are you...?"

Lawrence swallowed forcefully as the words rang over and over in his head, he rolled his eyes around to be sure of where he is.., the place was like a hut with dust everywhere, it had no window and there was a strange odour protruding from it....

"Who are you....?"The man asked again...

"A very important person..."Lawrence said....

"A very important person..."The man reiterated...."What kind of important person....?"

Lawrence exhale, his wits warning him not to disclose his identity, who knows, the man could be one of the people who wants him dead, he needed to be careful...

"Where am I...?"He asked changing the subject...

"In the forest..."The man said in an unfriendly tone

His eyelids dropped...."And who are you..?"

"I'm a hunter...., I saw you laying unconscious on the ground almost devoured by a wild animal...., I scare the animal off and brought you here, I took off the bullet and cover the wound with those leaves to suck off any infection you may have gotten..."

"Thank you...."

The hunter sigh and nodded...

"I need to get out of here..."Lawrence said trying to get up..., he squinted when a sharp pain lanced across his head....

"You need to rest..., it's dark already, you can't get out of this bush tonight, there are wild animals out there...."

Lawrence exhale, his right hand touching his head....

"I'll manage.."He said standing up...

"Who exactly are you...?"The hunter asked again, this time with a more curious tone..."Why are those men after you?"

He stuck his nose in the air wondering why the man was so bend on knowing who he is..., he would have probably be curious if he was in the man's shoes...

"It's best you don't know..."He stated raising his face to him..., but the hunter expression clearly states he didn't like his words....

"When I saw you lying helplessly unconscious, I took you and saved you, the least you could do is tell me who you are and what you're doing in the forest.."

Lawrence swallowed forcefully....."I'm the prince..."

"The prince..!"The hunter reiterated walking closer to him...."The prince of where...?"

He drew his lower lips between his teeth...."What land are you from...?"

"Jalama..., after Saruza..."

"I'm the prince of Saruza...."He said hoping he hasn't made a mistake by telling him...

The man stare long at him before he burst into laughter making Lawrence wonder what was so funny by his identity....

"Prince..."The man said amidst laughter..."If you're the prince of Saruza then I'm the king of Jalama..."

"I'm saying the truth..."Lawrence cut in putting the hunter's laughter to a stop....

"What will the prince of such a great town be doing in the forest all alone...., you're funny....."

Lawrence suck on his teeth..."That's who I am..."

"Fine..."The hunter said...."stick to your story and I'll stick to mine..."

"What..., what do you mean you'll stick to yours...?"

The hunters eyes gleaned....."That I'm the king of Jalama..."

"Oh..."Lawrence mutter withdrawing his face...., he look around again, there was a lamp in the centre of the room and it was the only light in the muddy room.....

"I need to get going...?"Lawrence said standing up despite the pains he was feeling ..

"It's dark already.., you cannot leave except you want to come hunting with me..."

Lawrence sigh at the offer...."No thank you, I need to get home..."

"There will be wild animals out there..."

Lawrence swallowed, the thoughts of the wild animals sending chills down his spine....

"I'll pass...."He said and slowly and walked pass him before he spun around to face him again...."Thank you for everything...."

The hunter nodded, pick a torchlight and handed it to him....

"You'll need it..."

"Thank you.."He said, he stare at the man a bit before he made his way outside...., he breathe in the fresh air before he scurried off into the thick bush once again.....

Kess heaved in a deep breathe after Dorathy find a place to packed the police vehicle in the hotel packing space.....

"Are you sure you don't want to stay in the police quarters....?"Dorathy asked

Kess nibbed before turning to face her...."Let me think about it...."

"It's more cheaper than sleeping in a hotel...."

A light smile surround Kess face...."I know, and I don't intend staying in a hotel room forever..."

"If you don't like the police quarter, you can come live with me...."

Kess narrowed his eyes at her...

"I'm just joking..."She said and they both chuckle...

Kess reclined his back on the chair, his smile still etched in his face....

"So where did you go...?"Dorathy asked..

Kess turn his face to her and stick his hand in the air...

"I didn't see you few minutes after Chief Dario left the station.., only for you to come back after 40mins.., where did you go...?"

"Mmm....., so you were taking note of time..."

She raised a brow at him..."You went to the chief's house didn't you..?"

Kess sigh and lean his back back on the chair...."Yes...."

"So what did he say.., did he confess to be a sponsor to the making of the drugs..?"

"No..." Kess replied looking at her.....

"So what did he say...?"

"He didn't tell me much.., but he did spoke about the Godfather...., he said the Godfather knows who killed the king..."

"We cannot find the Godfather..., the man is a ghost..."

"That's why we'll interrogate that boy first thing tomorrow morning..., I sincerely believe we'll get somewhere with his confession...."

"That is if he confesses.., you saw how adamant he was when you arrested him, you even threatened to shoot yet he didn't bulge..., it will be hard getting something from him..."

Kess scoff..."He will talk, don't worry about that.."

"Really..., what are you going to do to make him talk...?"

Kess chuckle...."You'll see tomorrow..."

"Should I be scared?"

"Of what...?"

"Of what you're planning..."

"I'm not planning anything..."

"Okay officer..."

"Tomorrow officer..."

She smile and he smiled back before coming down from the car....

"Good night..."Dorathy said from inside the car

"Good night.."Kess returned and watch until she drove out of the hotel.., he sigh and head towards the hotel reception...

The path at Lawrence feet fades as it leads into the darkness of the woods,..., his feet follow the narrow strip of naked earth among the giants of root and leaf. He let his hands touch their skin as he pass, feeling their gentle spirits soothe his own..., The bare branches spiked into the sky - no sign of life to be found anywhere. It was so dark he was barely able to see where he was going. There were only small sounds of rustling bushes and the howl of the wind. He didn't know what laid in the dark forest, all he knew was that it wasn't going to be a peaceful journey.....

As he walked under the dark tresses of the trees his feet caressed the velvet flesh of the forest ground.... , he could feel the darkness drawing closer to him and pressing down, suffocating him slowly as he stepped carefully through the thick maze of woodland....

He stood for a bit to think upon where he was heading, he's a fool, he should have asked the hunter for directions.., he glanced at the sky, the silvery moonlight was slowed to a trickle by the full branches, and he had to squint, only to see a path of gloom and uncertainty ahead.....

When he decide to trot forward, he heard a gunshot..., he turn around, from his years of experience he could tell where a bullet sound came from and this certainly came from where he came from...., his eyes narrowed with shock as adrenaline choked the living daylight out of him....

"Oh God..."He mutter and began to run back to the hunter's mud house, his skin slashed through each leaves and tree branches as he find his way back to the hunter's mud house.....

"Samie...."Maria called out the moment he laid eyes on him....."Oh my God what are you doing here....?"

"Princess..."Samie called back, a smile playing on his lips.....

"As do I..."She replied and watch him walk away with Sulieman.., she exhale and made way to her room....
She was about closing the door to her room when a hand hold the door, infuriated she glare at the person...

"Are you crazy...?"She yelled on realization it was a guard...

"I need to talk to you...."Joshua said..

"You must be crazy if you think I want to talk to you,..I don't talk to peasants..."

"But you do talk to Aaron..."Joshua dared....."It'll be quick princess, if you refuse me entry to your room, I'm just going to walk straight to the queen and tell her everything I know about you and Aaron..., so choose.., Drama or entry...?"

Her brows snapped together and she quickly left the door for him to come in....

With a broad smile, Joshua walked into the room and close the door...

"What do you know about me and Aaron...?"Maria queried furiously

"Enough..."Joshua said, his eyes glazing at every inch of her body....."Enough to sign his death sentence..."

"What do you want...?"Maria scowled...

"You..."He mutter before licking his lips....

She scoff..."What do you mean me..?"

"You know what I mean princess, I want you to give to me what you've been giving to Aaron.."

"I haven't...

"Oh princess don't lie.., Aaron already confess everything..."

"That slowpoke.."Maria snarled..

"So what is it going to be princess..., are we doing this or not..."

She glowered at him...."Hell no.."

"Okay..."He said..."I guess I'm just going to tell the queen what I know..., guess who will suffer for it.."

He threw her a taunting smile and began to trot towards the door..

"Wait..."Maria said over her shoulder before reverting her angry gaze to him....

Joshua smile slipped before turning to face her....

"How much do you want...?"

Heart throbbing, Lawrence ran into the hut.., he almost collaspe when he found the hunter on the floor, a pool of blood surrounding him...

"Heyyy..."He cried out rushing to his side...

He sigh, a sigh of relief when he realise the hunter was still breathing but his breathe was faint...

The hunter swallowed forcefully as more blood pooled from his mouth...

"They..."The hunter stuttered...."They were here for you....

"Shh.., don't talk..."Lawrence mutter lifting him in his hand..

"They..."The hunter mutter..., breathe escape him and finally he died in Lawrence hands...

"Hunter, hunter..."Lawrence cried out shaking his body but to no avail...

He cried out loudly, then he dropped the man on the ground..., he sniffle and pick up some wrappers and covered the man's body..., he was about leaving when he saw the hunter's gun...., he quickly pick it up, check for bullets, it was loaded.., he stare at the hunter's body and his mind brood over Justice...., rage seethe his insides.., with flaring nose he walked outside with the rifle.., no longer is he running from his pursuers..., now he's becoming the hunter and not the hunted......

With added valor, he scurried off into the bush to find the men after him.....It's going to be a long night of horror...
