Where do you reside? If you have been redirected to lagos kindly do as directed. Except for reasons like you are relocating to a near by state under the Northern Zone jurisdiction or temporary transfer . If you insist on submitting there you will sign an undertaking which may not bè in your favour. quote author=Stanleych007 post=87136877]Please I need urgent advice. I was at the VFS Abuja office to submit today and was told that I am meant to submit in Lagos VFS office owing to my residential address. I am almost frustrated considering the fact that I have already traveled from a distance with my wife and little child to submit in Abuja. I was given an option to submit only if I write an undertaken stating reasons why I need to submit my application in Abuja. Please can someone advice me on what option to take and if there’s been anybody who was in this same situation. [/quote] |

A friend of mine applied for visa but got rejected due to the following reasons 1. There are reasonable doubts about your intention to leave the territory of the Member States before the expiry of the visa. 2. The purpose and circumstances of the intended stay have been insufficiently demonstrated Should he Appeal or How would he solve this issue on his next application?? |

By God's grace, I received my visa today. Submitted 17th Feb, it got processed (sent to the embassy) on the 18th, got a notification to pick it up on the 28th. UPS Courier service delivered it to me Tuesday morning at home, 3rd March. Visa was granted. That was my timeline. 3 Likes |

Cyberknight: Thank you very much sir, I will advise him on what you've mentioned. Please last question- ideally should he save up a couple months' salary before applying? Or would a balance of #265,000 be suffiecient? |
Re: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by Champora: 10:27pm On Mar 03, 2020 |
I applied for a Schengen Visa in 2019 from Abuja, and in 2020 from Lagos. My province is in the south (Lagos) but I had gotten instructions from my manager/inviting organization as of 2019, to apply from Abuja. Hence I applied from Abuja without thinking twice and never got any queries about it. By God's grace, the visa was granted. Nonetheless, it was this year that I noted on the VFS website (I can't recall the link), that applicants from Northern Nigeria are to apply from Abuja. And those within the south, Lagos. For many people applying from the far far south like Uyo, honestly, Abuja and Lagos are about the same distance, and in some cases Abuja might seem closest. It's either you write that undertaking with relevant reasons, or you would have to travel back to Lagos. Sorry about this. Stanleych007: 1 Like |

Colourisblack: There are no hard and fast rules about finances, but generally he should have a balance showing that he is able to afford to travel to Paris, spend a reasonable amount of time there (maybe 10 days to 2 weeks tops), with reasonable expenditure, and return to Nigeria without appearing to have exhausted his funds. Remember that a leisure trip is basically a luxury, as opposed to a trip for medical purposes for instance, so he needs to show that he can afford this luxury. That having been said, his monthly salary of 265k is more or less the airfare for his Lagos to Paris round-trip, so he can't present a balance of just that. I advise you calculate the rough cost of your trip (use an estimate of an average of 50 - 60 euro expenditure per day excluding accommodation) then convert to naira and double it, at a minimum. I would be looking at a minimum balance of around 2 m and upwards, were I in his shoes,as a first-time traveller, trying to convince the embassy that I was really going for a vacation and would return. P.S. You've not mentioned where you live (in Nigeria or in France), but note that if the latter, your presence there as his fiancee is not a point in his favour. 1 Like |

Bhorbymills1990: Provide us with some context about you (your friend) and the application, so we can see if there is anything we can point out as an angle to be worked on. This concerns previous travel history, reason for trip, circumstances in Nigeria, finances, etc. Unfortunately, the Schengen countries use the generic catch-alls in a form to inform you about rejections, without specifics the way the UK does, for instance, so a lot of detail is needed to try to figure out what the exact denial reason was or could be. Don't waste time appealing, that takes a whole lot of time, and except its for something very important (like a spouse or student's visa), the purpose of your trip will definitely have lapsed by the time you get through the process. |

Cyberknight: Thank you very much for your informative response sir, I will inform him of all that you have advised. I live in London (and will be joining him on the trip), would this be worth mentioning in his introduction letter? If he was to deposit said amount to increase his bank balance would they question where the funds have appeared from? |
Re: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by Cyberknight: 11:36am On Mar 04, 2020 |
Colourisblack: At the bolded: No, he should not mention having a fiancee in Europe in his introduction letter, it's unnecessary and might prejudice his case. At the italicised: DO NOT DO THAT. That will definitely be seen as a means of artificially inflating his bank balance. My advice: Paris is not going anywhere. Let him build up his bank balance gradually and you guys can do something together over the summer or in October. 1 Like |

I just recieved my France visa and I saw an attachment on my passport that I was to report to the embassy upon my return. I can’t make it back to Nigeria on the appointment date. Can I go to the embassy at any other date upon my return and what is the implication for future visa application. |

Direct question to all if someone was direct to report back to the embassy upon return and the fellow didnt report back after arriving back to Nigeria is that any effect on next application? |
Re: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by ATPx: 10:36pm On Mar 04, 2020 |
ammyfab: No. You don't report to them embassy but rather to VFS Office, Lagos. Don't bother about the date (Plans changes and they know about that) When you return from France, report to VFS as early as possible with your passport and the show up slip. Regards |
Re: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by Cyberknight: 10:51pm On Mar 04, 2020 |
ammyfab: You don't necessarily have to go on the specified date as the previous poster said; just go as soon as you can upon your return. They just want to know that you went and came back. If it says report at the embassy, then you go to the embassy. I got such a notice on one of my Schengen visas once and I reported to the embassy. 1 Like |
Re: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by Cyberknight: 10:54pm On Mar 04, 2020 |
pufframmy: While I don't know of any specific case where this happened, it is reasonable to think that the embassy would not just be handing out those notices for no reason, so some sanction would most likely be attached to failure to "show up", as its called. 3 Likes |
