Kenya’s national carrier, Kenya Airways, may have been put under the microscope lately as the country’s parliament continues to rub minds over the fate of the struggling national airline. But that hasn’t stopped the accolades from trickling in.

And this time, the recognition is coming from Nigeria; a country Kenyans can’t help sparring with every once in a while on social media even though there is no doubt about the cordial relations between both nations. And those relations were, once again, put on display when the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) honoured Kenya Airways for its exemplary services.

The NCAA recognized Kenya Airways for delivering top-notch services with few hitches for the past half-year.

The NCAA’s Director for Consumer Protection Adamu Abdullahi revealed that out of the 244 flights the airline operated in Nigeria for the past half-year, only 68 had been delayed, 2 cancelled and 1 had a ramp return. No other airline had posted better numbers in the first half of the year even as the Authority did record one complaint against the national carrier of East Africa’s largest economy.

On the sidelines of the recognition, the Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Capt. Muhtar Usman, also used the medium to warn travel agencies that have failed to list with the NCAA of a potential delisting by the end of the year.

In an earlier development, officials from Kenya Association of Travel Agents (KATA), who are on an official visit to Nigeria, held a meeting with the Kenya Airways Country Manager, Hafeez Balogun, at their offices in Ikeja, Lagos.

The meeting is believed to have revolved around how Kenya Airways, as the link between East Africa and West Africa, could come in to promote partnerships and collaborations between Kenya Travel Agents and their counterparts in Nigeria via their respective Associations.
