That's why i said its not certain yet.
My brother in law has been driving the car ever since he got back from NYSC last year, and he just got a job last week but we're not sure if he's taking the offer because its in the North. The pay is fair for a bachelor and cost of living is relatively cheap up north but my wife who is the sister is concerned about the security there. And there's another option of selling the car as well. I used that motor when shishi no dey and him too rock am well well, he maintain am but the body don dey turn Legidiz.
I'll let you know whatever they decide on later sha but please don't enter into an hire purchase deal wey you no go fit get small time for yourself. I will rather advice you to continue on rental. 25k max

Tell him to take the offer, the North is safe all those news we see on tv and read online are all audio and business pattern.

If you yourself go to the North you wouldn't want to come back to this Lagos again.
He should park the car at home and give the offer a try for like 2months then see how things go.

My 2 cent though.

You do make a solid case but that is why you as a partner-driver have total control of your earnings.

You can make your rental in 5 days and do whatever with the remaining 2.

Granted, a hard-working partner-driver needs some time off, but if he/she plans the job well, there won’t be any need for permission to rest.

I’m more worried about the exposure on the 20 year old ehailers than their speed. Bros talk true you no fire motor die when you be that age?

I fire ooo I no go lie but not for the purpose of making money.

I asked him to take a day off every week then spend like 5 hours in a cyber cafe for this purpose. He agreed to that.
The problem with this ehauling driving is; it disconnects you from the world, the least time you have you spend sleeping, even in your dream you see your partner asking you to hustle up for the weekly remittance, or like one of my friend, you can get trip requests in your dream, nsuto mkpo?

Brother did you say 100k? This is serious.
I have a problem here, why consider what he isn't considering?
If his family was important to him I don't think he would've done that.
You know what? Don't stop the good work but avoid bad workers, they're like the DEVIL, even if you remove the letter D the answer will still be EVIL, you can't make anything good out of them.

Someone was trying to advice an intending partner on this forum many months ago to scramble the idea of considering marriage as a condition for service. He said that married men may come up with lots of family stories for not been able to remit, that was so true.

My logistics officer is a married man with children, I met him as an ehauling driver, he's on this platform as well. you have to see how this young man sacrifices for his family. He's ready to take any task just for the sake of the wife and children, he doesn't joke with his family same as any task assigned to him. He drives every week from Lekki/Epe to PH, Warri and Benin without complaining. When my woman spoke with him he said "whenever I see my wife and children happy when I return home, the excitement in them welcoming me alone gives me joy, whether I eat or not, whether I have money or not, my joy is filled, it makes me a proud husband/father". He added "yes, my family is my greatest priority but I need my job to keep them going and I need them to keep my job going, whenever I think about them it gives me the strength to do more because I don't want them to suffer. Can you imagine this kinda mindset from a young man that is still in his thirties dru? As I'm typing this now he's preparing to hit the road to warri.

Right from the day he made that statement lots of things changed positively between him and us...
100%. But advice that young to watch his health closely oooh and be more conscious about his safety. Stress kills my brother and if anything happens to him God forbid its the same family he loves so much that will suffer.

True, every man should work hard to make his family comfortable but remember you need to stay alive to have them have the best in live.

May God bless every hard working men out there and also keep them safe and healthy!

If it's me, this will be my decision because of his good record

- get another trusted driver that can maintain the business till you return, you must sign an undertaking to this effect
Lol... Mind you it's just a short leave and not a long one, getting good people weather partner owner or driver can take time. This business is not official work where a co worker can occupy for a while when another goes for leave. It's different bro.

Right from the day he made that statement lots of things changed positively between him and us...

Yes those are the issues I face o ..But again I try to be reasonable with them .A few of them in the past think they are doing me a favor ...At the end of the day as a business man I have to weed out the bad ones before I hire them.. I have a tokunbo car sitting down for months now , and am just taking my sweet time before I hire anyone .....
Funny enough I had one driver that wanted a car. We arrange and set up time and date for interview.. The guy didnt show up or call .. So we call him the next day and ask him what happen? He said he had to go and hustle etc and he will come the next day.. The next day no call no show ... about three days later he hit me up on what's up so say he is ready.. I just deleted him from my whatapps and move on .... And pretty soon people like him will say there are no jobs out there. If you can't handle small job and folllow proper protocol, than how can you handle bigger jobs..

Just to give you an example , when I was in college I had that will work his tail off .. The job could be paying $15 dollars an hour ,he will take the job seriously and be the best at it .. He had amazing work ethic and from there he got a job with a big company traveling around the world... Some Nigerian youth are too lazy and feel entitled. This is why am very careful in helping people. And the married ones can be the worse for jobs, some of them can't afford to have one kid, but they will born three kids and they can hold down a job and take responsibility. And now if their wife leaves them and follow a responsible man ,they will say that women are evil etc.. Omo things have seen ,can't be unseen

A friend has a really sweet Elantra that he intends to drive himself but doesn't know if the car can handle the stress associated with the business..

Yes it can handle the stress very well since he will be using it himself. Elantra has a good drive train. He should just ensure he's checking the exhaust net underneath the passenger seat, it tears most times hence increase in carbon consumption.

Yes stress kills and we need to take care of our health etc. But landlord, Bill collector, school fees, hospital bill and things required to be paid ,will not want to hear stress kills when is time to pay o. Your landlord will not want to hear stress kills o, your mechanic will not want to hear stress kills if you can't pay .. I can't go to Radauto and tell them I can't pay them because stress kills .. If stress kills no man should be married or having kids. It is better for that man to be leaving alone..

And if stress kills too much ,it means a person is leaving beyond his means.. Having 1 child is stressful, than have two or more and no funds to cater for them is what will kill person.. We need to take responsibility for our actions.....

Its why its a beautiful world...we disagree to agree.

Was on my way back from the Niger Delta today with one of the popular public transport system with lots of years in the business. Guess what? The driver was sleeping seriously while on steering. I was at the front seat and was also very tired and dosing off as well because I couldn't bear it, I noticed the slightly zigzag and eractic movement so I'd to sit up and then engaged him in discussion... He said it him self he was sleeping!.

No imagine the risk this driver is putting his life and that of his passengers and other people at even including his company and their property.

Now, the last aircraft crash that happened, was it last or there about. There was lot of report it was due to inexperience by the pilot. All lies.

The truth is, most employers dont provide the enablung2 environment for their workers rather are just after their business and profit.

Most or even all of these public transport companies don't have rooms for their drivers to rest after a long trip not to talk of even a bathing room or a toilet or even self a HMO should they or their family members fall sick along the line of duty. Go to their park every night you'll see them sleeping inside their car/bus the once that the day was good for them spend the night in either their concubine's house or with a sex worker with few hours sleep in the night and the next morning they're on the road driving putting people's life and property at risk.

Can we boldly call a 20yrs old boy a grown up man in nigeria? @Dru23 that boy is still a child oh this is not United State of American where a child of 20 is regarded as a man oh... Over here in Nigeria we still have men in their 40s still living under their parents' roof they still chop and say "mama thank you ma". So that child is still a boy.
I won't allow my child of 20 take a driving job, it's high risk to him.

You need to see the way these children drive on the road. Esp these coro boys, doing 80kmph on a busy road. It is that not madness? The annoying one is they will never allow you enter their front but the way they will enter you enh!

This is the reason why African is backward.. If this is the way things are done. How do you expect the youth to progress, your actions are the reasons why the youth are dependent on their parents even till when they get married....

Good morning guys and ladies, please let me just seek people's opinion here.

So I'm thinking of taking a car on hire purchase, say a Toyota Corolla 2005. Let's say the HP price is #2.5 million, direct tokunbo. I want to deposit #500,000; and remit #25,000 weekly to the owner for 80 weeks.

Now here is the catch. I want to give an e-hailing driver for #25,000 weekly rental. The #25,000 weekly rental the driver remits goes directly to the car owner; while I handle all repairs and servicing from my salary. Also, any week the driver defaults, I pay from my salary.

Is there something not okay with this arrangement? Am I doing anything wrong? Do I have to tell the owner of the car that I will not be the one to drive it? Do I have to tell the rental driver the car is on hp?

This still doesn’t make drivers employees everywhere. The law of the land in that region has stipulated that, somewhere else, that might not be the case.

Uber has termed drivers as independent contractor, that’s how the company wants to view them. You want a different tag, take them to court.

I have to clap for you for this one. I sometimes do feel disappointed with our men, we just have to manage them. I want my child to be independent from 16, earn little money working as a waiter or sales attendant, this is how hard work and responsibility is instilled from young age.

Btw,To be sincere, that is why we have lot of men child in this country, imagine a grown up married man still reporting to his mother about affairs in his home.

Bros please don't do this o.

Use that 500k go buy land and see the difference after the 80 weeks.....the money spent in fixing the car during the 80 week period, the time + headache (from managing the driver) + downtimes as well....what would be the value of the car after 80 weeks.?

Think about these please.

Its so unfortunate that's the society we find ourselves. Femanist how about wives that always run to their mothers at every slight issue in her home? Don't bring gender differences into this matter.

You want the boy child to become a waiter right? So what should the girl child do at age 16? A Waitress right?

@Dru23 you're privilege to spend most of your years abroad, a quick question? Would you rather yiur children grow up here in 9ja or in Yankee? lets have reasons to any of the answer.

what has this got to do with feminism..na wa for naija guys

it is understandable why a woman can run to her mother over slight issues some times but for man who is suppose to lead his house that is a big red flag for any woman. if you call yourrself leader of the home as most naija men want to be called, why run to your mother at every given time, why dont you solve your problems like a leader you all are.

to your second question, yes. both of them can become waiter or waitress or whatever job they are qualified for at that age, i even support the acquisition of skills like carpentry, mechanic, tailoring etc if they cant find jobs that pay, the purpose is to teach personal responsibility atleast in countries in the developed world, you can see young kids of 15 or 16 working in wendy's, kfc, mcdonalds or doing online business like drop-shipping to earn cash and be independent before 18 it is a norm there, here in naija, we protect kids to the extend that they become docile an not able to fend for themselves when daddy and mummy is no more.

do you know why in reserve parks they dont allow visitors to give animals foods, because they become dependent and docile and also because they will stop their natural process of hunting and start to wait for humans to give them free stuff...
