I have to clap for you for this one. I sometimes do feel disappointed with our men, we just have to manage them. I want my child to be independent from 16, earn little money working as a waiter or sales attendant, this is how hard work and responsibility is instilled from young age.

Btw,To be sincere, that is why we have lot of men child in this country, imagine a grown up married man still reporting to his mother about affairs in his home.

Sexylassie well said O’Jare, 20yr old that cannot plan, he should try paying his school fee and working in the snow, ShiooOoor!!

Its so unfortunate that's the society we find ourselves. Femanist how about wives that always run to their mothers at every slight issue in her home? Don't bring gender differences into this matter.

You want the boy child to become a waiter right? So what should the girl child do at age 16? A Waitress right?

@Dru23 you're privilege to spend most of your years abroad, a quick question? Would you rather yiur children grow up here in 9ja or in Yankee? lets have reasons to any of the answer.
I sent my kids here for their studies and it paid of handsomely, private school though, one graduated in Marketing and Chinese earns over £46k
My other son Graduated as an accountant earns well now taking his ACCA.
Our culture has its problems but we still have a progressive culture that makes us achievers, sending your kids home to study is a wise and good thing.

what has this got to do with feminism..na wa for naija guys

it is understandable why a woman can run to her mother over slight issues some times but for man who is suppose to lead his house that is a big red flag for any woman. if you call yourrself leader of the home as most naija men want to be called, why run to your mother at every given time, why dont you solve your problems like a leader you all are.

to your second question, yes. both of them can become waiter or waitress or whatever job they are qualified for at that age, i even support the acquisition of skills like carpentry, mechanic, tailoring etc if they cant find jobs that pay, the purpose is to teach personal responsibility atleast in countries in the developed world, you can see young kids of 15 or 16 working in wendy's, kfc, mcdonalds or doing online business like drop-shipping to earn cash and be independent before 18 it is a norm there, here in naija, we protect kids to the extend that they become docile an not able to fend for themselves when daddy and mummy is no more.

do you know why in reserve parks they dont allow visitors to give animals foods, because they become dependent and docile and also because they will stop their natural process of hunting and start to wait for humans to give them free stuff...
Well said Sexy

What igboman painted, is the real situation about earnings.

Like I said, wat planning are you talking about.

This biz revolves around people moving.

The only time you wudnt face any serious traffic in Lagos is BTW 11pm - 5am.

and if you work arnd DT tym, its a big risk to work @ nite for crumbs. Have you wondered why dere is always SOJI arnd 10pm upwards.

Cos few drivers work @ nite cos of d risk.

And if you are in traffic, you don't earn. In fact, you are losing.

You are not in the game, all you HV is second hand info. Don't discount wat igboman said up there.

I worked in lagos for 2months as part of my feasibility, till 10pm, at the must.
I know what l am talking abt, l give first hand knowledge and combine my London experience.

This is not absolute.
what do you expect in a country where basic things of life is luxury(food clothing shelter). Maslow hierarchy of needs comes to mind.

Chinese come with knowledge n loan from their govt. In Nigeria, getting knowledge is tall order. Someone will say knowledge is on YouTube. Have u met pple that turn off data on their phone before? Data is also not cheap.
They come here and make a kill because regulation is not stiff ( sell at any price, employ casual labour, pollute the environment etc.) Something not allowed in a sane climate.

Nothing truly comes easy. One has to be delibrate.
Excuses excuses, put that aside and get on with or you will have more excuses then a criminal going to jail.
SHINE YOUR EYES BRO, the Chinese that come to Niger don’t get loans from their Govt O!!

If I talk this morning, I'll step and destroy toes... See them using the 'nothing in life comes easy' card anyhow...

So it's only you guys that know how to do it!

One even said 'Chinese come to Nigeria and make a killing', like like seriously? Can you ever be more ignorant??

Why didn't you ask why everyone wants to leave Nigeria for greener pastures? Why do people celebrate and do big Thanksgiving when their visas come through??

Kai, make I no talk, I respect some of you well, dru23 included, but your reasonings beat me!

Your environment has shapened your orientation, nothing can make you understand an ordinary Nigerian.

Every parents primary objective in Nigeria is to give their children education to the highest ladder possible according to their capacity.

Kai... These people, make I no talk..
I am relocating this year, so I’ll soon find out but from what I’ve seen o,
The opportunities are incredible, it’s the people that are the problem,
I:E UBER starts a business here a driver gives each customer he picks up his card to do personal business and steal customers, UBER withdraws and the same character will say nothing works in Nigeria,
We are our biggest problem!!
Indians and Chinese do so well because they use themselves to run these businesses, to an extent it works with the other Igbo’s.

Plenty 20yr old dey drive for London l beg, we complain to much .
Excuse me sir.
I think you should read my post with understanding before responding, which your response isn't necessary.
- where did I mention that the guy is complaining?
I did what I did out of pity, not because he complained, not because he begged me for anything.
If I didn't have a conversation with him I wouldn't have known anything about him, just that its my style to know any driver that comes my way. I'm off the ehauling wheel, but whenever I see a Corolla involved in any issue I must stop by to know how I can help, have you done that before?

I hate it when we are talking about Nigeria someone will bring in another country as a yardstick.
- if Nigerian was very okay then why were you in London? (If at all you were there)
- can you compare Nigerian economy to London?
- can you compare Nigerian's fare to London?
- how many 20yrs old in Nigeria can affor a car of their own?
- do you know how much uber charged from international airport to my house, with the one hour he slept in my place? And he never complained, rather he was excited.

Throughout my service years in the military and as an instrumentation and controls engineer in the oil and gas industry I've been to more than ten countries (outside Africa) but I've not used it to judge anyone.

- in Brazil, do you know that the number one Schneider Knx programmer as at 2016 when I met him he was 18?
- do you know that one of the highest paid instrumentation engineer in Angola now working with one of the E & Ps is 20 this year?
- one of the OEM (in Australia) that certified me in Process Controls their best technician is below 20.
- not to mention the ones I met in military out there
Should I mention more?

This is Nigeria, let's see how we can help each other, that's the way forward, instead of using it against them.
The said guy will be going to PH on Sunday with my logistics officer, I was able to connect him with some friends, 3 companies awaits him there.

Thats the way forward.

If a driver can afford to pay 35,000weekly with
Money earned from uber/bolt.

Then such a driver with be smart enough to either go on Hp or borrow 700k to buy same nigerian used honda civic 05 you planning to give out on rentals and pay back in just 20weeks ( ie less than 5 month.)

Dont shoot yourself on the leg

And that's how the weak learn.. I was on prey few times ,but you learn as you go... drivers have prey on me few times. But I learn and try not to make same mistake, employer prey on my inexperience by offering me low wages at one point in my career.. But still I take as a learning experience... they are no excuses in life bro

It makes us strong, we stand the challenges of life and pass the test of time. Even the bible says "Man, thou art inexcusable".
I avoid anyone that gives excuses for their failure, you just have to keep trying no matter what, don't give up.

While what you doing is really commendable, it’d be super swell if you can learn a professional skill, even if it takes 2 or more years to learn. Learn a skill and you will never go hungry.

There’s no telling about the future of ehailing in Nigeria so don’t put your mind in it. Don’t be carried away by the money you’re making now bro. Please try to learn a valuable skill. Be fruitful.

Working on UBER platform for two months l never made less then 15k O, but then London experience dey!! Helped a lot.
When was this? This year, last year or 4 yrs ago?

The highest numbers od trips ive done on uber was 47 which was last week. My account was credited with about 31k+ on Monday which I used part to pay for my rental. The cash I got on me was about 10k, after filling up my tank on Monday b4 travelling outta state I was left with about 9k or there about.

Any driver with more than 50trips this period with the current traffic we have now in lagos should pls show us a snapshot.

Oga, in the name of Jeaua u will come back to Lagos Nigeria and drive.
