Nwafresh, you will definitely make more money on GoTranscript if you got onboard, some 10-minute British calls are about $3.5 as people avoid them |

Re: Self Employment Opportunity: Transcribing For A Living In Nigeria Part 1 by samsard(m): 3:31pm On Mar 08, 2020 |
nwafresh:Payoneer and PayPal, choose whichever suits you. |
Re: Self Employment Opportunity: Transcribing For A Living In Nigeria Part 1 by nwafresh(m): 3:37pm On Mar 08, 2020 |
samsard: Nice.. I guess you don't give two fu**s about PayPal anymore. I'd like to try that GT. How's the working platform like? Any auto-trancripts like Qa? Are there so much calls? You've experienced the two, so which is much easier and less time consuming? Like for me, 10 minutes Qa call takes me 30 minutes to complete. How far GT? |
Re: Self Employment Opportunity: Transcribing For A Living In Nigeria Part 1 by samsard(m): 3:45pm On Mar 08, 2020 |
nwafresh:There are easy and hard calls, there always seems to be calls on queue, several hundred. From the much I know, there's no AI transcript, you download the audio and run it through Otter and past back in the editor. There's also 'clean verbatim' and 'full verbatim' type transcripts. Maybe Qa is easier, but GoT pays better and offers payment options. At the end, it probably boils down to just learning their system. I'd still like to have Paypal, I'm still learning their ropes although I have one 5 rating already. |

Re: Self Employment Opportunity: Transcribing For A Living In Nigeria Part 1 by samsard(m): 3:55pm On Mar 08, 2020 |
nwafresh:No, you can order their card after you've received $30 in payments or simply withdraw to your bank account directly. |

tenderfigure:If you be fast typist or editor and audio clear, e dey possible. "How much time does it take to transcribe an hour of audio? The short answer: The industry standard is four hours of transcription time for one hour of clear audio, or a 4:1 ratio – that is, one hour of transcription time for a 15-minute-long recording." |

samsard:in addition, you need to earn up to $50 to withdraw to Payoneer, withdrawal is not auto like PayPal, you would have to chat admin with your email every time I want to withdraw to Payoneer. And you have to be ready to initiate your withdrawal few minutes after the weekly rated payments have cleared which happens every 1am on Fridays. Now as per comparing the two platforms, these are my observations. Similarities of both platforms 1. Both platforms pay low, GT just almost insignificantly higher. 2. Both pay on 'thursdays' slight differences based on their locations. 3. Flexibility in choosing when to work. 4. Rating system is 1 to 5 5. PayPal can be used as a firm of receiving monies earned 6. Both usually have enough calls if you are dedicated 7. Both use speaker labels, QA speaker labels are easier and constant, while GTs can be very diverse and wrong tagging can cost low ratings. 8. Both have transcription tools, most well established transcription companies do. 9. There are lenient and strict QAs or editors. 10. There are more and easier jobs in the middle of the night/early mornings. Differences 1. GT trains you better to get external jobs, cos u would be a better transcriber. If I can consistently maintain a rating of around 4.3 to 4.6, your private clients will stick with you cos of your quality. 2. It's easier to earn on QA compared to GT, provided you master QA transcription platform properly. 3. It's easier to assimilate GT training and rules initially, but there a are a lot more to learn when you start. 4. QA deals only with calls, while GT does all kinds of transcription. 5. There is format specifications on GT, i.e full verbatim, clean verbatim, speaker change timestamps, or time interval timestamps. 6. Review of your work on QA is faster as it may take hours to even 5 days for your work to be rated on GT. Editors on GT usually run from bad files too just as transcribers. 7. GT transcription tool can be used for non-GT calls, and it's one of the easiest way to transcribe if its use is understood. 8. QA calls text are pre-transcribed by their platform, while GT does not. U can even get all the transcripts for a QA call by extracting the source file. 9. QA entry test will be like a child's play to pass for a regular GT transcriber. GT transcriber test is harder to pass. 10. You can easily earn more on GT by becoming an editor (QA) after achieving a minimum of 4.5 rating over 400 minutes of calls in a 60 day window period. Will share more as I remember. Thanks. 1 Like |

11. Ratings can be challenged on GT and upgraded on by admin if you actually have genuine reason. It can be as good as moving from 2 rating to 5. Some editors just have bad days and decide to take it out on transcribers 12. GT offers Payoneer as a payment method. 13. You get paid for all calls rated on GT even if your score was 2, but a penalty will be deducted which can even be up to 70% of what u earned on that call if you actually had too many errors. crystalwox: 1 Like |
