the wife inheritance is normally just audio. The major reason is that they want the wife to still be part of the family. they don't have any affair except they're attracted to each other it is just a little traditional stuff to lock the late husband away because it is believed that witches do take the form of the late husband to come and have sex with the widow but if she is be "married" off to his brother, the ghost wouldn't have access to the wife.
