We could end up playing some matches with local players. Some clubs might not let players travel. |

andrewbaba44: Ebola reached USA, but it didn't go as far, perhaps because the virus wasn't as potent in those parts, the same way Corona virus is not as potent in Africa. Considering over 30,000 people have caught it worldwide and Africa can only account for 20 at most, out of which, not even up to 10 are actual Africans, does it not inform you that the virus is not as conducive in Africa? Or, you think anything the rest of the world has, Africa must have it too and in a worse form? |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by safarigirl(f): 8:42am On Mar 11, 2020 |
BascoVanVeli: Which matches? How many matches are we playing any time soon that we will need local players? Na wa for una o....you are really looking forward to the end of the human race. As far as you people are concerned, Corona virus will remain till the end of the year, by what time, half of the human race would have been wiped out. The only reason players will not be allowed to travel, is because the country they are in, has been locked down e.g Italy. |

safarigirl: You have a point , but this corona virus is worst than ebola, you can see for your self Africa need to be very protective, you say na only 20 don catch am, make we no wait till e go enter 2000, my simple opinion. |

safarigirl:That people come to Nigeria is entirely beside the point. That a person goes to a place rife with insecurity does not change the fact that insecurity exists in that place. Even in the North East people do not just visit, people live there! Does that change the fact of insecurity there? We know the challenges of insecurity bedevilling the country and its not just the North East. Security goes beyond the incidence like kidnapping or armed banditry. It is prevention, response, and curtailment. What is the response capability of our security agencies. Aren't our security agencies particularly SARS even a threat to our lives? Talking about bodygaurds even my boss has Mobile policemen attached to him and so it's is for many who can afford it. Is that the regular thing in the US or Belgium or France? Was that even regular in Nigeria like 10!/20 years ago. So because I ply(as I currently am) the Abuja /Lokoja road frequently without any incidence of kidnapping, I'd tell people that there are no issues of insecurity on the road when it is a notorious fact that that road is a hot bed for kidnapping. Nyanyioma is no endorsement on the state of security in this country. Hard facts exists to show that this country is not safe compared to others It's like arguing that Nigeria is not corrupt because other countries have incidences of corruption. The issue is not denial of heritage, or any other thing like say lack of patriotism. It is simple: Nigeria is not a safe place compared to other countries. That's why like tbaba1234 said travel advisories are issued. Dem no say no travel but you are given advise on where you going to. We all do seek for travel advise including on security when travelling to New places in Nigeria. So how Dessers own come become issue? |

safarigirl: Aunty no be fight I would never wish death on my worst enemy talk less of half the world. I just think it will be complicated. Look how many matches are played without fans around Europe. The whole of arsenal is under self isolation as we speak. Players might be told that they will have to self isolate when they return and that could amount to missing matches. So clubs might advise them not to come. 1 Like |

Mujtahida: He is too old to have never been. Dessers is not the only one, there are many more lost children like him, his is evenn better, at least his father isn't Nigerian. There are many whose Nigerian fathers will just allow them rot away in foreign lands. When I speak of denial of heritage, I know where I am coming from. If e never do you, you no go understand. |

andrewbaba44: Ebola is more infectious and deadlier than the corona virus (it is considered a biological weapon by some). The hysteria with the corona virus, I believe, is due to the unknown about the virus. Corona virus is not even as virulent as the initial SARS virus in 2010 or as infectious as the influenza virus. Also, have you considered the fact the the low rate in africa could be due to low testing. How many people in Nigeria, for example, would go to a hospital for flulike symptoms, except they are severely sick. |

andrewbaba44: Wtf? Is this even a comparism Ebola killed over 11000 people with just over 28000 cases, in Congo it killed over 1800 people with just 3000 cases, that's a mortality rate of 40-60% while corona has killed over 3000people with over 100000 infected, that's a mortality rate of 3% please don't compare the two Ebola is weyy deadlier |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by chrisooblog: 1:24pm On Mar 11, 2020 |
covid 19 itself based on ratio of fatalities to infected is not as bad as ebola however the frequency with which it spreads is a cause for concern. Europe within a space of a month has become the epicentre of the disease outside of china. so far most countries have been proactive in matters of contact tracing and screening of international travellers because we don't have a good enough health system to handle an outbreak God forbid within the general population. plus i'm not sure we even have so many test kits to handle such a surge. regarding the AFCON match for now we should take every precaution but should not panic. the next 2-3 weeks will be critical whether this thing would be largely curtailed or spread even worse andrewbaba44: |

Off topic. For those of us looking forward to a blend of champions league and EPL tonight, It's a disappointment yet again because Manchester City vs ARSENAL faces another postponement tonight Modified: it has to do with Corona virus though as staff and players came into contact with forest owner who was at Olympiakos game and had contacted the virus. So they have 14 days to remain indoor which completes on Saturday vs Brighton

CLUB STATEMENT: CITY V ARSENAL POSTPONED Arsenal fixture postponed Manchester City’s Premier League fixture at home to Arsenal has been postponed. The decision to postpone tonight's game has been taken as a precautionary measure on medical advice, after it emerged that personnel from Arsenal FC have come into contact with the Olympiacos owner, Evangelos Marinakis, who has been named as a positive case of COVID-19. Manchester City FC wishes Mr Marinakis a speedy recovery, and further information will follow in the coming days about rescheduled dates, but supporters are advised not to travel to Etihad Stadium for this fixture. |

junnyjake: Well she did not include any reliable source. Are we supposes to believe some random person's inner thought as true? As far as most of us are concerned, experts have asked 'everyone' to take precautionary measures. A disease that has over 100,000 cases is nothing but to be taken serious. It is sufficient to wipeout a whole community in a third world country with no adequate medical facility. And it is sufficient to cripple a whole country's economy. Look beyond all these hear says. Look at the bigger picture. Being laid back is what has gotten Italy and China to this present state. Infact the whole of Europe have been very laid back about the disease hence the high spread of the inflection. https://www.who.int/news-room/detail/07-03-2020-who-statement-on-cases-of-covid-19-surpassing-100-000 1 Like |

andrewbaba44: Andrew, Ebola enter Europe and America join. They didn't play one match behind close doors. Because it was minor case. Just as COVID-19 is a minor case in Africa. We don't need to close any door. How many people exactly would leave Lagos, where Corona is, to go to Asaba to watch the match? Match isn't even being played in Lagos where the virus is. We're not asking for MFM home games in the heart of Nigeria's corona case to be played behind close doors, but are asking for a match in far away Asaba to be 1 Like |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Mujtahida: 4:45pm On Mar 11, 2020 |
safarigirl:The immediate context is that he's not previously been to Nigeria because of travel advise not that his mother denied him his heritage. That is another topic entirely. We have no facts in relation to that. At best all we can do is make assumptions. Relating to one's heritage is state of mind. For some who have dual identities relating to one side means nothing. They do not even see that side as a part of who they are. For others it is important to them to be grounded in the duality of their identities. When I was in Zaria we encountered Yoruba (whom I heard are mostly from ogbomosho) who have been in Zaria for over a hundred years. Some have lost contact with their roots yet many will still maintain that connection. What the situation is in relation to Dessers, I do not know. All I know is that he is Nigerian on his mother's side and has decided to play for Nigeria. He stated that the reason why he has not been to Nigeria is due to travel advice and no more. |

Stop spreading ignorance Biko. And talking about Experts, I have informed expert opinions on this too. People who have detailed info and not the generilistic info circulating around the public. There is nothing to fear about this Virus in Africa. Nothing!!! Infact, for the fallacies you keep spreading and the baseless fear you trying to sow in others, your moniker should be All-for-Satan and not All-for-Jesus. AllforJesus7: It's confirmed that the flu is more fatal to the elderly and those with pre-existing health conditions. If you don't know this by now, perhaps, you've allowed fear reign over you. No one says this shouldn't be taken serious, all we are saying is: come down a little with the spread of unnecessary anxiety while you fight the disease. Who knows? There's money to be made off this. |

Because she is Republican. Tbaba, I'm afraid I diagree with you. She is a known voice and is informed. I know you take Alexandria Cortez very seriously but are here saying Candace Owens isn't to be taken seriously. Abeg stop politising the lady. What she said is true and well informed. It is infectious but have only killed old people especially in Washington. The last case I heard of was an 80 years old man. Young people are yet to die from this and if any is dead at all, the number is very very very very little. The disease is not a potent one abeg. It only spreads faster and quicker and is fatal especially to Older folks. Chikena. tbaba1234: 1 Like |
