The phone was placed on the chest, but the left arm is damaged and neither the phone nor the cord is damaged. Something is not just adding up, forgive my queer mind though.

I have said this before and I will repeat it again;

This man may have murdered and maybe a lighter used to burn and char his hand to make it look like a charger accident.

Research has proven it over and over again that the volts contained in a phone charger cannot kill a human being. Even, how many times have we seen were an electric current killed someone? Our impulses are designed in such a way that a single shock will jolt you away in a split second to keep you safe.

If not that Nigeria is a very useless country and an irredeemable zoo filled with very hopeless people in large proportions, a forensic department of the police will be able to discover many fingerprints on this man's body.

What am I even talking about. Do we even have a police force not to talk of the forensic department? They are busy running after yahoo boys who brings money! Hopeless nation who their criminal, irresponsible politicians have stolen away there past, present and future.
The day I got electrocuted by an extension box, I got glued for about 2 seconds before I could pull my hand off. I pulled my hands off because I was in a conscious state unlike him.

Voltage cannot kill, it is the current passing through your body that kills.

Any current above 100 mA can kill. That is 0.1A.
Check the ratings on your charger then answer your question by yourself.
Please create awareness, most people don't know about this and it could cost a life.
finally someone with sense. I believe this its not the voltage that kills rather it's the current.

Phone charger that its output is 5volts did dat? Foul play I smell there...
Proper Investigation will reveal the actual cause of the death.
Re: Man Electrocuted While Charging Phone In Port-Harcourt, Rivers (Graphic Photos) by Oblongata: 9:38am On Mar 11, 2020
That is an injury from electrocution all right...

But it is not electrocution from charging cable

I suspect that extension cable, he possibly rolled on it, and rolled out of it after the shock, but the deed had been done...

I do not suspect foul play, who is he that a killer would want to go to that extent to cover tracks?

Well one would quickly jump to such conclusion but if u understand that it is possible for the circuit to fail to trim the 220v as given, then i believe u would have spoken differently!! "China for others" products could cause this...definitly not "china for china" products!

Current can kill yes.

I can't believe this until they show me the burnt cable that lead to Skin burnt , the wire guage in a phone charger cannot burn to that extent, if you pass high current through that wires the whole USB cord will be burnt..

Did you really put a 5V USB charger in your mouth?

Next time, put it in your anus while you are having sex and nearing explosive orgasm.

It can kill. What you did not realise is the circumstances that it can kill you. For instance, do you know whether there was a thunderstorm while he was using the phone? If the house is not earthed or the electrical earth is bad, if there was lightning strike as he slept, it can kill him especially if the charger is faulty or failing. This is the reason we are advised to ensure that our house have adequate thunder arrestor and good electrical earthing.

A mere 5v phone charger can't cause that type of damage.

If the charger caused that damage, why is the charger and phone still intact with no visible damage to them? The scene was staged.

From just looking at the pictures, the guy was murdered. He was probably suffocated with a pillow or poisoned and his arm burnt to look like he was electrocuted.

Nigerian authorities hardly conduct an autopsy on the dead during investigation, unless the dead came from a rich family that suspects a foul play. In a civilized society, all deaths are investigated and an autopsy conducted to ascertain the real cause of death.

Everyone who entered the room from the time the guy was last seen alive, should be a suspect!

Rip to the dead but USB cable with 5v current cannot cause electrocution, the story is not true, electrical engineers in the house should tell us if really a USB 5 voltage can electrocute one to dead

Where you plug the charger into the socket is a transformer that steps down 220v to 5v AC, then other electronics covert that AC to DC for your phone. In sub-standard chargers, the insulation is easily breached between the cables conveying the transformer primary (220V) and secondary (5V) so you could effectively have 220V AC all along the entire charger right up to the cable, which can kill.

Ordinarily, the electrical circuit should trip quickly at the fuse or distribution board when it detects a large inrush current upon the insulation breach, or when the victim is shocked. This has not happened means the electrical system was not professionally installed.

These two failings being present could have contributed to the electrocution but the victim could also have had underlying heart problems which made him succumb quicker.

There is nothing like murder here bro.

Look at the position of the phone, directly on top of his heart.

This is a simple scene to ascertain if he was electrocuted OR murdered.

Plug a phone with that same charger, if it charges... then he electrocution is out of it.

See the problem. 90% of the houses in Nigeria are not wired by professionals. Sub standard wires, substandard electrical equipment chai.

A lot of factors can contribute to this.

Cheap chargers
Poor grounding
The list goes on
