Don’t be deceived, Nigeria is a good market for Toyota, I don’t mean used Toyota’s, I mean brand new.

Toyota Hilux used by banks, CBN, even Boko boys up north use brand new Toyota hilux.

Remember “Toyota Corolla ‘Bank Type’ “ how that car was massively bought new and used by banks.

If Nigerians (individuals and organizations) could buy more than 25,000 units of brand new corolla for 5years back to back, Toyota will consider setting up an assembly plants for corolla here. If we buy every models of Toyota 25,000 per model for 5years back to back brand new, Toyota will set up assembly plants here cos Nigeria will be seen as a potential market hub. That said, manufacturing plants will be another different ball game.

We have reps in Nigeria that can meet with you at your convenience.

We require a downpayment to buy and ship.

How can I get in contact with any of your reps?
Also, how much can I get Lexus RX330, 2007 or 2008 model?

This is what an average Nigerian always think of immediately a car is mentioned, thunder strike poverty aswear.

May fuel economy never be at the top of my priority list whenever me and my unborn generations seek to buy a car, Amen!!

Thank you, sir.
You've said it all.

It's unfortunate that people on this side limit their minds to far lesser than they can actually enjoy in life all because they always think about a few pennies to save.

Fuel is fuel and in Nigeria, we even have it cheaper than a lot of places across the world. Yet, people don't think about how to afford the best things that this short life can offer. They just start the conversation on the plain of limitations.

Good advice there. One or two things for all to learn. Cheers!
AngryIgboMan:
Its my wish that amdman will not go rogue one day like inspired autos and the likes.

Whom God has blessed, no man can curse.

Amdman, my advise to you is to stick to the small small gains no matter how little. Even if its 20k you made on each car sales. Nigerians love quality but cheap. If you make 20k times 2,000 sure clients yearly, thats a clean 40 million naira per year. Imagine when your client base reach 100,000 each year. O boy, na so Dangote take reach where im dey now oo. Sugar 10 naira times 100 million people daily. Imagine the profit after daily expenses.

Nigeria has population. Your prayers to God daily should be to open your eyes to a hustle that thousands of people will require everyday.... Nwanne, you go be donkonyo!

So amdman, remember this my advise. Stay focused on Quality and Cheap. Above all, pray everyday because many people on this forum alone will want you fail or even d**d. Don't joke with this.

Again, don't reply random pms. Always confirm received email does not have virus because a lot of fraudsters will contact you with greedy proposals say maybe 30 cars. Then they will hook a virus to your mail in a bid to take charge of it or even try to change your Whatsapp to another number. If you have not added 3 step verification to your email address and 2 step verification to your whatsapp, do it immediately now. Its very important.

Final thing, Inspired M went into oblivion because he became very greedy and started looking for big deals. A lot of Nigerians are middle class and I believe they are the people you should target always.

By the way, am getting two very classy rides from you any moment from now.

At times I always laugh at you people, a lot of Nigerian are realist, I Know it cost you nothing to wish , if you like wish Bentley, it's fine by me but do you need to decieve yourself.
Even a lot of rich people will pick fuel economy, cheap spare parts, easy maintanance of Toyota ahead all this your cheap talk especially if you have been really tormented before by one exotic brand of car before.

Funny enough, fuel is the least thing that bothers you in a car.

If you really want cheap based on those criteria you listed, there are even cheaper brand models that cater to that far better than the Toyota Corolla you folks always talk about, including fuel economy.

However, if you want to limit your possibilities, who am I to preach you otherwise?

To each his own reality... cool

Brother, go for the corolla or any car that you know you can comfortably manage. No need to reinvent the wheel, never mind the naysayers, Las Las, may only you go bear the brunt of the repercussions of any decisions you made.

Hello Guys, I have been following this thread from page one but never commented because there are 3 categories of people viewing this page.

1. People that really want to buy a ride but looking for real value for their money.
2. People that are getting close and almost ready but not yet sure which ride to go for and as well looking for a better offer.
3. People that don't even have up to 200k but playing to God to pick their call or should I say working hard to see if they can own their own car.

Obviously, I belong to the third category, I really need a ride not actually for fun but you need to take kids to the school, go to church and other things but it starts by watching pictures and working hard to be able to make up the funds so don't blame those of us that watch the pictures and price.

Fuel economy debate!

I have seen what you guys had to say about whether we should consider fuel consumption as a priority before buying a car or not. I want to chip in something. None of you are wrong but we must know something very important.

Life is level by level, there are some people who have outgrown fuel problems, there are also people who change cars yearly or every 2 years and their problem is not actually how the car consumes fuel because it can't consume what they cannot afford.

On the other hand, what about those of us who cannot afford even a Nigerian used car at least for now, what makes you think it will be easy for us to spend let say 5k to 10k weekly fueling a car. My brother it depends on your level, I will rather stick to a ride that will take lesser fuel for now but my problem is that any car in that category is always expensive compared to some luxury rides.

I will disagree with my guys saying that going for a fuel economy car is poverty, that's not true. Trying to live above your level will actually do more harm than good, a wise man will always live according to his level not actually buying a luxury car that you can't even fuel and maintain comfortably.

Finally, the choice is always our's go for any ride that pleases you and to be honest, I have seen some Acura SUV at 1 million + here that made me shake my head and say God when but am always confused to see this Corolla 2004-2008 at the same price or even above. When it comes to the physical look and luxury those Corolla is nothing to be compared to the Acura SUV am seeing here but since I don't know anything about cars maybe some expert will know the reasons why Acura SUV is this cheap.

Oh! I forget to say that I am planning to buy my own ride but my pocket is still blind and watching this thread and what you guys are saying will help me make the right choice.

Thanks to you guys especially Amadman, you must be spoiling business for some greedy niggers. One love.

Hello bro. I admire how detailed and thoughtful your submission is. Usually, i love to sit back, read and learn from more experienced folks regarding the age-long tradeoff between fuel economy and luxury of cars in Nigeria. But i am now compelled to lend my own voice.

First, my own definition of a luxury and pocket-friendly car is a Honda Pilot 2004 and above model or an Acura MDX 20404 and above model. Of course, our comparator will be the almight Corolla.. cheesy. My research so far has been centred around them, so i have a little theoretical knowledge about them.

This fuel economy issue is usually blown out of proportion by us. As long your Acura is bought tokunbo with no issues reported, the fuel consumption will not be significant at all.

Let us do a little maths. If we were to buy the Acura and Corrolla from Amdman, the difference between both 2004 models will be around 300k in favour of the Corrolla. Then lets say the cost difference between weekly fuel purchases is 2k extra for the Acura

So, it will take 2 years of having to buy fuel on a weekly basis before we expend 208k from that 300k extra we would have spent in getting the Corrolla.

Lets look at the maintenance. Assuming we spend an extra 10k on the Acura (in relation to the Corrolla) for bi-monthly general maintence, it will take us 2years to expend 120k. Total of 328k.

So it will take a whole 2 years of enjoying your Acura before the overall cost of ownership equates with that of the Corolla.

Now, lets look at the luxury aspect. It is a very subjective thing, so i will speak from my own aspect. Luxury begets productivity. If i am well comfortable, my productivity will be very high. All my travel time will be spent in my car, and thanks to Lagos traffic, travel time will run into several hours. So i deserve to get maximum comfort during those traumatic hours.

Finally, lets look at societal perception. E get the kind car wey you go use enter area like this, everybody go dey hail you anyhow, dem no go know sey brother Kazeem Corolla fit buy the motor get change sef. But my own full ground remain...lol. even for express sef, danfo go dey fear to scratch you gaaan coz sorry fit no end am...lol. Corrolla just dey everywhere. It is just too common jare.

Summarily, i will choose luxury over fuel-economy anytime because the Nigerian bias has made fuel-economy expensive. You will find yourself spending more in the short time as against the luxury option where you will spend it in the long term at your pace.

God wey give us money to use buy car, go give us money for fuel.
