Re: DIY Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa - Part 2 by lasun01: 12:20pm On Mar 07, 2020
Hi expert in the house, i would like you hear your thought on the interpretation of this English as per Vetassess and the emphasis is on the word preceding- "The qualifications listed below are accepted on a case-by-case basis if preceding at least one year of highly relevant consulting work in that specific field of study".

My qualification happens to be within those qualification that would be accepted on a case by case basis. My query is that does the preceding means one year experience in related field prior to graduation because all Industrial Training that we have in universities within Nigeria is either 6 months or three months.

Thanks

Good day guys, I have a question in regards to the 489/491 visa and having gone through the thread, I can't seem to find an answer so I will appreciate if someone can help with an answer. My brother in law applied for the 489 visa in October 2019. Given that the 489 visa is no more, will he be granted a 489 visa with the conditions of a 491 attached or be granted a 491 visa with its attached conditions?
If ITA have been received before the abolishment of 489, the visa will come with 489 conditions otherwise he has to withdraw/cancel the application and apply for the new 491.
Re: DIY Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa - Part 2 by Bodacious1: 3:53pm On Mar 07, 2020
I think those checks can only happen when you get an invitation to apply for the PR visa. So all you can do now is pray for a favourable outcome with ACS (since you have already obtained maximum points in English).

Knight1:

Hi @Bodacious1 @tunlex01

Thanks for helping so far. I've submitted documents to ACS for skills assessment. I was wondering if there is any thing I could be doing while waiting for the outcome.

Like Health check, Police check etc.

Thanks

No, except the occupation is level 2 and below and you have a previous qualification like ND or trade test.
It can also help for assessment with ACS

Industrial training is never regarded as experience.

What's your qualification, university and occupation you want to nominate ?

Hi Guys,

Is it compulsory that the spouse (not the primary applicant) writes the English Test, even when there is no intention to claim points?

Not compulsory but the secondary applicant must provide proof of functional English for the visa application using any of the following
1. A letter from your university stating that your course was done in English
2. IELTS - minimum of 4.5 in each of the band or PTE - minimum of 30 in each band

Geophysicist is assessed by Vetassess and this body requires at least 1 year verifiable experience before you can assess with them.

Good evening guys,

Please I need direction on how to go about the Australian Permanent Resident Visa, the ACS payment and which one should I take first, IELTS is still pending... I wanted to start that of Canada when a friend advised me to try Australia as he did not want me to be stranded along the way due to the calculated points (age 36 plus, no Masters).
I read Chemical Engineering - first degree
Started work around 2010 a Customer Service Representative-9 months
IT Support- 11 months
Project Management- 1 year 4 months
IT Support- 7yrs plus (till date)
I am an ITIL, OCA and CCNA certified....
Preparing for my IELTS
I know from my work experience I should be eligible for (263212 ICT Support Engineer)-Skilled Nominated (subclass 190).
Planning to go with my family- (Wife has a diploma with close age)

Thanking you in anticipation,

OK4.

Check NSW 190 or 491. For NSW 491 you need to have at least five years of experience.
Maybe NT too but you might need to show strong employability prospect in the state. If you can get up to 95 points (including state points) then you might also consider SA.

Looking at the above you have 8 years of IT support experience. The issue is if you go for ICT Support Engineer 263212 assessed by ACS, your degree is not I.T related, hence you will have to go via the ACS RPL route which will deduct 6 years of your experience. You are then left with only 2 years.

Another option will be to explore ICT Customer Support Officer 313112 assessed by TRA. You might be eligible for SA 190 and 491. Also it is less competitive and you only require 75 points (including state points) as specified by SA.

Your best bet is to go with ACS even though you are going to lose most of the years of experience due to non relevant degree.
You can't assess as ICT Customer support officer with TRA because you don't have an IT degree which is a prerequisite....it's just gonna be a waste of A$1,000.

Hello house. I have a Bsc in sociology and I am CCNP Certified. Can 8 years of working experience in IT networking qualify me for the application?

How many years of work experience can ACS consider, if I do not have my first degree from the relevant field?

Please confirm the 75 pts is inclusive of the state points. I am currently doing assessment with TRA and they replied in their acknowledgement mail that processing time is 120 days. My target is 190 visa nomination with SA and I plan to write pte b4 the assessment comes out. I have been putting pressure on my brain on how to get band 8 in pte to be eligible for 190 cos I have the minimum years they require . if the 75 is state pt , then I can just target band 7 with ielts and also have hubby get band 6 . This is good news to me.

First I need to clarify the above statement. In order to apply for ICT customer support officer with TRA you need to have an I.T degree in addition to minimum 3 years experience else the outcome will be negative. Regarding your question I want to believe you are referring to ICT Customer Support officer. To clarify, the 75 points that I mentioned is inclusive of state points for 491. For 190 offshore, you need 95 points (Inclusive of state points) for SA to sponsor you. Other 491 options are QLD (80 points; including 5 years experience) and NSW (5 years experience). You will need to check their requirement.

Food technologist is a level 1 occupation.
You should confirm the following;
1. your University(ies) and how many years was your degree
2. The state your sibling lives and his/her visa status (is your sibling a PR)
3. is your experience in food technology?
