Please I'm new here, I will like to know how to go about my student visa in one of this Australia schools, I hold HND in civil ENG. How much can take care of the process? On my own I have budgeted 5m, will that be ENOUGH?

NB1912:
There are schools that give admission without English test. Regarding your study gap, what were you doing sinc 2014?

chidex28:
Nothing really...just some side hustle here and der. How about the 2.2?
chidex28:
Though last year and a year before. I got denied by canada
Adding 2 Canada visa denials along with 6 years of being idle after graduation, how do you convince the CO that you are a genuine student? If you had work experience in those 6 years then you might be able to write a convincing SOP to meet the GTE requirement.

Please note that I am not saying you don't have a chance, it's just going to be extra work convincing the CO that you meet the GTE requirement. Nothing is impossible unless you don't try.

Thanks. I proved home ties by showing I have a thriving business here and my partners will be managing it whilst I am away. I also provided evidence of real estate properties I have. No, I will not be travelling during this virus outbreak. Will defer to July resumption.

Would appreciate your further clarification on this. I am a research student and the grant letter did not state this. So, even if I get a letter from school confirming that my resumption now in July, visa will still be cancelled?

As of today in Australia, it is mandatory for everyone coming into Australia irrespective of the country to self isolate (stay indoors and away from people) for at least 14days. Failure to do this is a serious crime and consequences will follow.
How will you self isolate if you are just coming afresh and don't even have a place of your own yet?

My advise is this.
1. Get a deferment letter from your school till July.

2. Write to the home affairs office about your decision to postpone travel be particular about your inability to be able to self isolate for 2weeks if you get on board and attach an email of deferment from the university.

OR

You can still travel but be ready to be quarantined by the government for 14days as you will be deemed not to be able to self isolate as a new resident in Australia.

You would only have a problem at entry in July if the department is not aware of you deferment decisions. As long as they have your notice and acknowledge your decision through email, you have nothing to worry, you can as well print your email correspondence with the home affairs and that will be a proof at entry point in July.

Thanks. I think health insurance was about 8,000AUD - BUPA…….circa 20M in SOA.

Just email the school. You don't need to email home Affairs. The words in your visa states you must not enter after a date.so far the school gives u an updated COE... I don't think it's necessary to involve home Affairs ... I skipped mine and didnt inform no home affairs

I am still learning some stuff.

One of the conditions for getting a Certificate of Enrolment (COE) which is required to apply for your visa is that you must pay for health insurance that covers the period of your study. Some schools have preferred health insurance providers, in my case it is BUPA (a health insurance company). The term SOA refers to Statement of Account.

Hope the foregoing address your questions.

Thanks for your input too. Yes, the date by which I must enter as specified on the visa grant is years from now. However, in asking for the deferment, I will ask the school for guidance on whether to inform home affairs or not.

@ alao1981,
You don't need to mail home affairs.
Last year my wife's visa was granted on the 14th march and school already resumed 4th march. She deferred to July and Deakin gave her new eCOE with which she just kept as her current COE, that's all cos you will be needing that COE for some Jobs y in Aussie. Just settle down and planned yourself cos going with family same time, much is required apart from finance.
Best of Luck.
