We always complain of how corruption has underdeveloped Nigeria, but it seems it is an endemic problem in Africa. Africa is a continent of paradox - rich in mineral and human resources but very undeveloped and high number of poor people.


Recently, a 2-kilometers Baraawe International Airport, Somalia that gulped US$4.3million (N1.57 billion Naira) was commissioned and it is just a small building that houses the control tower. No tarred runway, not fenced and other equipment on site. The airport is just a little better than the airstrip in Obudu, Cross River State (just because of the presence of a control tower, which by the way if it has latest flight control gadgets).

From the photos, you can see men holding the signpost and a Somalian Minister cutting the ribbon to commission the "International" Airport. You can also see air-crafts on an untarred runway.

Why are African leaders this way?

I don't argue or bash people just for the sake of it.
But that airport is a shame.

By the way, I know 1km of asphalt in Nigeria is 165m. Up in Sudan, I know it's gonna be a bit lesser due to the terrain there.

Bros, you know nothing about aircraft landing and take offs. That's certainly not your forte. Modern aircrafts can take off and land with ILS. Go figure about it.
